Based on my personal experience, it really depends on where your candida is located that affects how you react to sugar. My primary symptom is fatigue. When I eat simple sugars (banana, apple, milk, etc), I don't react strongly. However, when I eat complex carbs like oatmeal, chia, beans, I'm guaranteed to feel tired for a couple days. Pretty sure it's because I've got candida lodged in my large intestine. The simple sugars get absorbed in my small intestine, while the complex resistant carbs make their way to my large intestine and provide fuel for the candida bugs. On the other hand, if you have candida in your small intestine (SIFO), then you will react strongly to simple sugars.

How important is diagnosis really? How about everyone just skip all diagnostic measures and just pretend they have both SIBO and Candida. Just treat both of them aggressively, one after the other.
I either caught some virus or ingested mold had extreme symptoms for 3 months, a lot of stress followed so sick ended prednisone for 3 weeks n been worse ever since in terms of gut issues. I get candida after swimming in a chlorine pool. I itch all over for 1 or more days and crave sugar. Now I take a thorough shower beforehand to soak my skin and afterwards I scrub really hard and use Vit C cream . Now it is 95% better. The real test is in winter when the skin is dryer and more apt to absorb the chlorine.
I didn't realize that sugar didn't fuel SIBO 🤔 I thought it did. I'm dealing with both SIBO & Candida overgrowth unfortunately though. This video was so helpful too especially about the causes of motility issues, thank you
It dóes feed SIBO. MAST’s shotgun sequencing publication even saw a 63-fold upregulation of glucose metabolism in an average SIBO biome. The thing is that your small intestine absorbs it very quickly, even before the E. coli and Klebsiella species can get to it, so the net effect is somewhat vague.
I believe that I have both sibo and candida, too. Can I ask you about how you are dealing with it? I feel lost because everyone is talking about the solution if you only have one of them! But I have them both and I don’t know what to do! For example, people who have candida must take probiotics, while people who have sibo must stay away from probiotics! Can you please share your experience and thoughts with me?
@@alaamansour2476 I completely understand your frustration and struggle because it was the same confusion with me! I have since learned that probiotics can actually help SIBO a lot! It's the pre-biotics that you might want to avoid in the beginning phases of treating it (basically- avoid having too much fiber and carbs until the SIBO is reduced enough). What works really well for me is to take the probiotics separate from my supplements/herbs for attacking the overgrowths. I always feel better when I take the probiotics. I like to take it at night an hour before bed. Are you aware of biofilms as well? I can explain more if you want me to later, in the meantime I will share the main things I've done to greatly reduce my SIBO and what I believe to help the most. 1) a good probiotic 2) with meals taking either Betaine HCL OR diluted vinegar mixed with water and rinse mouth with plain water after, HOWEVER you might not tolerate this at first, so be careful and maybe start by taking just a super tiny amount and I would also take oregano oil or oregano tablet right before. For me this helped prevent the bacteria in my stomach from hurting my stomach lining in response to the hcl or vinegar (people with overgrowths likely have it in their stomach too- i use to get stabbing pains in stomach witout the oregano. But i needed the vinegar or HCL because my body wasn't making enough acid which acid is needed to prevent sibo and digest food) 3) taking a biofilm disruptor (Like biocidin OR and enzyme based formula or both, i like to take both ) 4) Digestive enzymes with meals, preferably one with a wide range of enzymes 5) eating more protein and healthier sources of fats and omega 3 like quality fish oil, unheated virgin olive oil etc I like to take a shot of them every day lol unless its a part of my meal 6) take magnesium, adjust the amount as needed. I take a capsule 3 times a day it works best when I spread it out. Take vitamin C adjusting as needed but start low with the vitamin c don't do too much at first, it can painfully flush out your whole system in high doses lol i also think a good quality multi vitamin 7) ideally you'll target the infections 3 times a day with something. For me I got good results with a few things: oregano gradual-release tablets because the tablets travel through the entire small intestine without breaking down fully until they've traveled all the way through, I had to take it with meals so that the bacteria won't eat my food or cause pains while eating. another supplement called Candidase from Enzymedica is incredible. They even make an extra strength one. Candidase should be taken on empty stomach between meals for it to work best. 8) proper sleep and deep breathing, it sounds cliche but my infections always got worse when I didn't sleep well, didn't get enough fresh air, and didnt do deep breathing. Must get in the habit of taking multiple deep breaths throughout the day, at least 10 at a time, three times a day and before meals. It helps your entire body function SO much better. It helps before bed too it helps me sleep but sometimes I'll use an affordable low-dose melatonin from a store. Magnesium should help improve the sleep too. 9)gentle exercise, increased as tolerated. I now believe in our body's ability to heal if put in the right circumstances, if money were extremely tight and one is able to prioritize sleep, deep breathing, relax/manage stress, walking or exercising, and greatly reducing carbs/fiber, eating plenty protein, eating natural food, and taking HCL or vinegar water or even bitter foods with meals. Eventually when you start doing well, gradually adding fiber that you tolerate. When I'm doing well, I tolerate many fibers now perfectly fine. It's when I don't sleep well, or get to bed too late, that's when I struggle most. Or when I eat too much carbs and not enough protein. Some other things that have helped me are amino acids, because they help give you instantly absorbable protein that your body uses to fight the infections. Liposomal glutathione because Candida interferes with our ability to make glutathione. Glycine + taurine always helped too, they help fight infection and help the liver which needs lots of support. Chlorophyll is amazing too it can protect against so many things, that one I plan on taking for life. I also had to cut out gluten and dairy, they tend to cause an insane amount of inflammation for many people. My practitioner also has me take a dairy-free immunoglobulin supplement that also has n-acetyl-d-glucosamine in it. They help heal the gut lining. I know this all seems like a lot. My nutritionist has me on a low fodmap diet to starve the bacteria + candibactin protocol for 2 months. (After 30-35 days on the protocol we will be adding pre-probiotic). My gut stool test showed gut dysbiosis, a low immune system score and high chances for candida/ sibo (but obviously didn't confirm if I had it). And I was also diagnosed with ibs by a GI doctor for my symptoms of chronic diarrhea, bloating and some GI pain. In your experience can this treatment be successful? I'm super paranoid because I have been dealing with this for over a year.
Don’t add a pre biotic or pro biotic. Why feed you body more bacteria when you are trying to repair your gut? Also. Find a new nutritionist. Good luck to you.
@@healthyinformation Hi! It changed my life. I'm never lucky with mysterious body issues (history of pcos, etc) so I didn't have much hope for this. My nutritionist put me on candibactir AR and BR (one bottle each until it ran out which was about a month). I combined this with a low fodmap diet (very strict. the carbs were so low, and certain fats obv very limited due to high fodmap ingredients and essentially only protein which left me with a crazy 800 calorie a day diet which I don't mind actually) Three weeks later, and I was almost completely healed I honestly couldn't believe how fast it worked. I had been dealing with this issue for almost two years, not knowing what it was and immediately starting to sweat in the car just at the thought that there was no access to bathrooms everytime I left the house. I'd also struggled with very slow digestion so I'd limit the amount of food I'd have and my stomach was always hurting. Although the abrupt bathroom trips were the worst and super stressful. 10 months later I don't really think about it. I try to take probiotics when I remember ( although haven't in a while) and make gut friendly choices so it doesn't happen again. Here and there I'll get a few weird days. Maybe one extra bathroom trip here and there or a weird reaction to a specific food. Plus an on and off sensitivity to a few foods like apples and raw broccoli but this is barely noticeable to me. When I'm menstruating, I go full on IBS. I obv don't actually have IBS (the treatment working proved it was a bacterial issue) but I call it IBS. I know a lot of women deal with similar symptoms during that time of the month but it didn't used to be the case before this whole gut thing happened so I assume my gut is just a bit sensitive still during that time of the month. But it's okay. I whole heartedly believe this happened because I took birth control, although maybe I was one of the people that were impacted by covid in a way that harmed my gut. (got covid for the first time before vaccine) Sorry that was long! Hope that helps!
Well, it just sucks if you did everything wrong and you took the Cipro for a month you took their proton pump inhibitors you got candida diagnosis and Cibo and seafood. Don’t even know where to start. Don’t eat any sugars or package foods and I’m very limited on foods now, totally fucked up my system. Thanks. Stupid doctors and western medicine but sad is none of them even believe that Steve is real or candida. My GPs have looked at me like I’m crazy. They tell me that my symptoms were not real functional doctor even that functional doctor does not know how to fix it. He’s never even heard of H2 S. I want to do your program and see if I can get anywhere doing that.
How much salt do you take for constipation and how do you take it do you add it to water in the morning? Curious how much I should be taking I have really bad constipation and motility agents don’t help
I honestly wonder with myself. 15 years ago I had candida and a bacterial imbalance disorder at Dr.whittakers office out here in ca. Sadly he isn't in town anymore. Loved that place. Some of my symptoms are similar to then. Very frustrating. Just sent back tests so hopefully I find out soon. Last time I fixed it with flagyl and a probiotic and no junk food.
Hi I have been prescribed movicol & lactulose by colorectal surgeon. Are there are prescription laxatives or stool softeners that I can have prescribed that don't ruin the microbiome? Thanks
Thanks for yet another informative video! I have a question. I don’t react to sugar but I react BADLY to yeast and anything fermented. Could this be a sign of Candida or maybe something else?
Reacting to yeast and fermented foods is very common in SIBO as many people with SIBO have histamine intolerance. Definitely worth looking into, maybe keep a food diary and see if other high-histamine foods give you similar reactions?
@@ellieoakes2111 I’ve already ruled out histamine intolerance but I didn’t know that many people with SIBO have issues with fermented foods. Thank you!
Biogenic amine intolerance such as histamine, tyramine, cadaverine, putrescine, spermidine, spermine is the very likely cause. Otherwise it could ne an actual allergy to certain fungus. You can test for these at an allergist.
Interestingly, the reaction is always 2 weeks later . of course I steer clear but on holidays have slipped up. It all started after I took doxycycline for Lyme Is my body somewhat ruined from that !? I'm ready to do some serious cleanses
My fart smell like rotten eggs.. Seven months off of antibiotics for h pylora. My low right side always hurt me. Four hours after I eat like gas pressure But I do not get extremely bloated.
Great video! What are the (physical) symptoms of Candida (and other fungal) and SIBO? Are skin rashes (e.g., eczema) at particular regions of body associated with any of them?
Eczema is more likely to be Candida related but could also be sign of parasites. Google how to take castor oil for parasites. Two days in a row is best
I use medicinal cannabis for pain and insomnia (I have ME/Lyme) but my bloating and motility seems to be worse. Have you any first hand knowledge as to whether THC impacts motility? Thank you, I am very interested in the FODMAPS freedom.
If its oil, in my experience it slows things down, I get constipation now where I used to be running to the bog. Sorry tmi, but yeah it works that way for me 😊 magnesium helps xx
I see you use medicinal cannabis for pain insomnia I have both. I used to smoked pot last year of college and a few years after college and then I had to stop because I literally got the worst insomnia I was going crazy. Same thing happens if I do it now makes my pain worse just like it activates your senses it activates my pain does not help with insomnia. I accidentally took my roommates edibles thinking they were A different kind of chocolate bar during Christmas I had never seen before I slept for two days straight but I was miserable. Can you tell me what I might be able to try for sleep and or pain that doesn’t make me feel all drugged out? Is there a specific type that you take that helps? Thank you so much I have trigeminal neuralgia and fibromyalgia
That is my question as well. I have always read, gathered from videos, that a white coated tongue (especially at the back of the tongue which is the large intestine) is candida. Yet when I have tried recommendations to improve such as taking pro and prebiotics, depending on the product, I see no improvement or feel a bit worse. The feeling worse part is supposed to be reflective of SIBO. As the video indicates it can be very confusing.
I still don’t know after watching this video?????? A blood test said candida and high zonulin. So what is that???? I am assuming follow a candida diet.?????
What if you don’t have Candida (tested negative, don’t have the typical symptoms of thrush, don’t have one of the root causes listed and found Candida diets/treatments ineffective). But you react strongly to sugar? Are there certain bacterial strains that feed off of sugar? Particularly ones in the large bowel rather than sibo?? Sugar typically causes me brain fog, headaches and body odor. Can this be a symptom of large bowel dysbiosis too.
I have the same question, research suggests that certain pathogens such as ecoli feed off glucose so I don't think it's a stretch at all. Ecoli has been named as one of the primary pathogens found in people with SIBO.
I still believe there is no way to separate them out,the only way to do that is by trying different medications one at the time and seeing how your body responds.
So I have had 'IBS' for over 20 years now. my diagnosis was the doctor pressing the lump in my intestine, 2/3rd of the way from my belly button to my left hip. The lump NEVER moves location. but sometimes goes quiet and soft. I don't think it is IBS. I honestly cannot remember that far back about antibiotics, but back then I was a normal omnivore, but to be honest, mostly living on kebabs and pot noodles. Now I am plant based and fast, lump is still there. I am only now coming round to a possible IBS/sibo/sifo/candida confusion. pretty much as of today. I am attempting to make efforts. I took bile (already had it for gallstones caused by massive omnivore weigh loss on extended 'fast' (economic fast rather than my current intentional) overloaded my gall with stored cholesterols and such. I even partook of a little bit of honey and ACV. I will have a mix of probiotics in the next few days including the acid one. any insights on my current journey? not seen a doctor in about as long except for when I went to hospital for the stones. diagnosis. edit: used to be a massive sugar junkie. but been sugar free for a few years now...except bread and fruit.

(got covid for the first time before vaccine)
Sorry that was long! Hope that helps!
@@mariananikolopoulou534 got it, yes, this sounds like many of the testimonials I get from my clients as you probably heard in my videos
Systemic candida does not respond to most programs. Reply and I’ll steer you in the right direction
I have white coated tongue from 6 years with alot of bloating, very little appetite
Is low appetite a symptom of candida ??
Yes
I’m watching this cause in ate cookies and my symptoms went wild
Would sugar from fruit give away candida? Or is it primarily simple sugar??
Ive tried ginger and artichoke to no help. The #1 motility agent is ive found so far is moresea salt and more h20.
Did you try garlic?
Good start. Your candida is likely systemic in which case a different approach may be needed
How much salt do you take for constipation and how do you take it do you add it to water in the morning? Curious how much I should be taking I have really bad constipation and motility agents don’t help
has anyone experience chronic tenesmus with this as well as other horrible symptoms but tenesmus being the absolute worst ?!
We have had excellent results with our clients with a combination program at our center. How are you doing now?

Hi I have been prescribed movicol & lactulose by colorectal surgeon. Are there are prescription laxatives or stool softeners that I can have prescribed that don't ruin the microbiome? Thanks
Would think best to take more fiber rich foods than prescription
Research Research I'm such a mystery
Have reactions to gluten and sugar now for 12 years
Interestingly, the reaction is always 2 weeks later . of course I steer clear but on holidays have slipped up. It all started after I took doxycycline for Lyme
Is my body somewhat ruined from that !? I'm ready to do some serious cleanses
My fart smell like rotten eggs.. Seven months off of antibiotics for h pylora. My low right side always hurt me. Four hours after I eat like gas pressure But I do not get extremely bloated.
I tested for sibo but it was negative.
Sulfur rotten egg smell is usually hydrogen sulfide sibo
@@dprice81 But I don't get bloated. Just gas on my right side
Did you also have badbreath ?😢
@@tamianicoledoingme3007do you also have loose stools, undigested food in stools etc

Lol, I had H.pylori and took PPI,s and antibiotics. Issues weren't good when I came off the antibiotcs, so I probably have both.
How are you now? Same thing happened to me and now every meal sugar or no sugar gives me gas
Those are the primary reasons for candida overgrowth. Liquid oxygen and supportive nutrients can help
That's interesting to know. Thank you for replying@@lroyjohnston5560 I will keep going with the magnesium as it's the only thing that helps me. xx
Yes cannibis is known to worsened motility
@@ErickGarcia-cj2ufI didn’t know it worsens motility that’s not good I heard that Kratom does but I didn’t know that cannabis does
What about white coating on tounge which, when I scrape my tounge goes away but comes back after some time, is it bcoz of sibo or candida?
from what i know, that is a Candida situation not sure you get anything like that with SIBO, as that is more of a yeast infection symptom
@@WilliamJones80 yes bro same situation with me I feel maybe we have both sibo & sifo

I still don’t know after watching this video?????? A blood test said candida and high zonulin. So what is that???? I am assuming follow a candida diet.?????
Candida and leaky gut
How do we get a hold of you

Hola

Great info!! So glad I found this channel
Thank you so much 💓
darn it I think I have both! lol great!
i think I have both. >.
Excellent Info.
I still believe there is no way to separate them out,the only way to do that is by trying different medications one at the time and seeing how your body responds.
What is PPI
Proton pump inhibitors. They block stomach acid production
See a naturopathic doctor or get a homeopath.
@@Ane127 Many thanks. It is hard to explain this but I am a full on solar punk, Already got further using the combination of available science and AI.
Narrowed it down to an imbalance of Smithii, so far among a few things I will not mention on the internet at this time, I took another double dose of bile, just as a pre attempt to give a bit of a natural flush knowing my bile situation has been bad in the past. a perfectly reasonable surfacant that gut flora is used to. This seemed to have a bit of a direct immediate effect on motility with some rather old stuff leaving.
I waited a day for it to advance down the system and let nature do with it as it pleases then followed it with some plant based probiotic pill and 2 probiotic yogs,
so far in my guts have been their sleepiest ever, I can still fell my lump but its very in quiet mode and the rest of my guts just feels calm, I feel a bit more lucid and really quite hungry. my transit time before this was around 14 hours. I am still awaiting last nights meal...
Only real issue that I call an issue is I have had a lot of pressure in my head and quite a head ache, but since clarity of thought is improving I am riding it out with pain killers for now and presuming it is toxin cleaning or a last stand of anything unpleasant my slightly overlarge army of good bacteria and cascading events is causing.
But I personally have never come across the two words 'naturopathic doctor' strung together before this conversation, so I can now plug that into my worldview and see what comes out! Much appreciated!
When you say antibiotics are you referring to more broad spectrum systemic antibiotics or rifaxamin? Or both?
Any antibiotic will cause opportunity for fungus to increase by killing the competition, except nitrofurantoin for uti
Either one. What did you take?
