Every Man A King was written by Frank and Mildred Arena for Huey Long. Huey Long did work with them on the lyrics. He gave them the main line "Every man a king, every man a millionaire". Huey Long was present when it was written and did have some input. When the song was completed he paid them 500 dollars (which was a considerable sum in the 1930's) for the rights to the song. He then gave the song to his friend Dr Castro Carazo to orchestrate. Huey Long could give the co-written title to anyone he wished, he owned the full rights to the original score. Frank and Mildred Arena were my maternal grandparents. I have the original "working" music score sheet with corrections and a signed statement from a witness who was there.
Huey was the first man to fully realize the power of Music to translate a message into a common cultural language to sway the electorate. He was the man who had the money and the vision at the time to buy the best sound equipment of the day (1933) on flatbeds and haul them around the South using Country bands when necessary(often) or large Dance bands when that fit his audience. The man was a megalomaniac and a Psy-ops genius at manipulating the masses. An American original.
+Franz Kafka But he was speaking to the masses, not the Jewish Old Guard in New Orleans. Obviously, you've never read T. Harry Williams' definitive work, "The Biography of Huey P. Long?" If Long can be called a "dictator," he was a dictator by consent. Not so FDR and his hirelings Will Bill Donovan, Ben Victor Cohen, Henry Morgenthau and the other members of the cabal that planned Huey's murder.BTW, the Hollywood character ,Willie Stark(Broderick Crawford), was nothing like Huey P. Long.
I read Williams and the Ivy book too while on jury duty on Tulane Ave. The man was ahead of his time, no doubt about that, and Roosevelt was justly afraid of him and his crazy clown act in the Senate. Huey never forgot Winn Parish and the poverty he endured as a child, tho unfortunately he brought those table manners with him as well. Would that he had survived the poor aim of his bodyguards- the world would have been a more interesting place at least, Louisiana probably the better for it. I have an autographed portrait of the man in my kitchen. You?
It's mostly rejected that his death was the result of his bodyguards returning fire. You can look at an interview with Long's doctor during the two days prior to him dying.
Franz Kafka My great-grandparents Mildred Schuler and Frank Arena wrote that song for Huey P. Long as his victory song. He didn't write crap, he bought the song from them. Wish they didn't, because I would still be getting royalties. Brandi Booth

Yang is much more 'libertarian'/right-wing than Huey was. His programs went far beyond UBI. Not sure if that was even a policy of his. Might've been, but he wanted to push for so much more.
Huey Long would of been a Left-Nationalist today he would of not liked Bernie Sanders nor AOC, Diversity isn't what Huey wanted, Huey would be described as a Left-Nationalist.
wow I never knew Huey Long was a fan of Kaiserreich
That description is butthurt gold
Press F to pay respects to Huey Long. He was the hero we needed, but perhaps not the one we deserved

Now thats unrealistic.
The piano player was Dr. Castro Carazo who cowrote the song with Senator Long. Dr. Carazo was the director of the LSU Band and, later, my friend.

This pretty much says it all.
