You can use it for the first part of a mesh or keep it and turn it into a focus point for later.
Deleting it just means you will have to re-insert a cube later anyway.

Your skill and knowledge of Blender are fantastic, of that, there is no doubt in my mind, but in and of that, you seem to think that everyone can do this and the fact is that not everyone can. I've learned so much about the routine of sculpting this just from watching you work. You don't happen to teach any premium classes or anything, do you?

If it helps, you should slow down the video and attempt what you see here. I started by watching more beginner friendly videos, and now I can show off my first model ever attempted and the models I've made for my game now.
Then again, I do better with "what you see is what you get" tutorials like this.

Simply extrude subdivide and use grab bevel and cut tool but it is quite efficient idea wow

Something tells me that the main reason you know how to do this is because you've retopologized many sculpts already. Do I have to do the same to become this good?

repetition/practice is how you learn so yes. if you've done this for as long as this artists has you'd be just as good. they've been doing this for years and years

Knowing the polyflow is quite helpful yes. Careful when he extrude the arm out. He did it intentionally and exact amount of edges to work with the fingers. If not , your polyflow will probably go messy.
