  • This is not necessarily a “review” but more of an experience I had with the bushings.
I’m not sure that they functioned how they were intended, but that may be on me to an extent, hence I didn’t feel right calling this a true “review.”
That being said I did my best to give my experience wand thought and I hope you enjoy!

You gotta add a washer or two under the bottom bushing so the preasure from your thunder trucks press down evenly. Lesson learned from Paul Schmitt

First off congrats on the 1000+! Always a fan!
I've got the Bones Hardcore Hards (the black inner ring). Haven't had this problem yet. Only like using them on my Thunders because the stock Thunder bushings feel a little too squirrelly for me which is probably due to the bottom bushing not being barrel shaped. A Thunder truck with Bones Hardcores does feel more than a little sluggish on the turn though which I am reminded of everytime I go from my Indies with stock bushings and back to Thunders. I see no point in using them on my Indie trucks as I really like the stock bushings and if I didn't I could just buy some of their replacement bushings.
If my Hardcores do blow out I'm not sure I'd buy them again. In fact I'm not overly enamoured by Thunder trucks at the moment. The draw for me was always the lower truck and the lesser weight but having recently started skating some Indie Forged Titaniums that are both lower and lighter than standard Indies I think I've found the perfect truck for me.
But anyways if one wants a nice and stable bushing with that 'going back to the centre' feel to it Bones work. I'd just make sure to get a higher durometer one and not tighten it beyond what you need to for the lock nut to engage.

I feel you on the Thunder/Indie dilemma. I enjoy the responsiveness of Thunders and the lower height but lately the wheelbase has felt wonky depending on the deck. At some point I’ll try Indys again but definitely would need the Titanium or Hollows (something light!).
      Always enjoy your comments g.

@@Skatebetter cheers! I don’t really dislike Thunders as such. The lower height and weight on the Hollow Lights I have definitely fit some decks better than the Indie Standards I had and they were always easier to pop. But those Titaniums I have now are for me the perfect medium between the Indie turn that I like more than the Thunder one and the lower lighter Thunder.

@@RikRiorik I’m super curious about the Titanium trucks- the price point isn’t super inviting but they seem to be growing in popularity!

@@Skatebetter Same material on the hanger as a normal Indie but the axle is some sort of titanium alloy. Base plate is forged and that's where the (53.5mm) 1.5mm lower profile than your standard Indie comes from. It's not exactly the same as my 52mm Thunders but it's still a good compromise.
But yeah I hear you on the price. I can get Forged Hollows for 879 Swedish Crowns which is roughly $100 but the Forged Titaniums clock in at almost $150. Quite the difference over a few grams. The difference between a standard truck and a Forged Hollow is only like $12 by comparison. Thunder Hollow Lights go for about $110-115 and those are more or less the same weight (a little lighter) than the Titaniums of the same size.

Thunder does make a variety of replacement bushings now. The 100 Duros (Navy Blue) are a big improvement for me. I got a set of the 96s (Red) but haven't tried them yet.

I skate these on Indy stage 11s awesome bushings they're tougher to pinch but the rebound to neutral is great once you get used to it, mine squeak when they're new. I use hard because I tried mediums and they were easier to pinch but wheel bite was an issue. I have thunders too and I'm in the same boat, just skate the stock bushings and buying stock bushings lol.

Nothing wrong with an experience video like this. It was kind of awesome to know the cause of the problem. Aces and Bones Hardcore are a match made in heaven for me. Thanks for the help. I'm getting a set of Thunder 151s or 149s soon. If I have issues I'll just stick to their bushings.

Definitely curious to see how/if they work for you (the trucks and the bushings)!

    • @RikRiorik

You’ll be altering the lean of the hanger though with the Hardcores at least if you run with the AF1 Aces. Their stock bushings are taller than all other bushings.
Me personally I have a set that I switched out the AF1 bushings for some Indie Yellow 96A bushings but placed two of the Hardcore bushing washers between each truck and bottom washer to get thengeometry of the truck to stay as unaltered as possible.

@@RikRiorik Shoot man. Good point! I screwed up and I didn't specify. I used the Ace Classics with the Bones Hardcores and that was the great match for me. I'll make note of what you said with the Ace AF1s. Geometry shouldn't be altered.

    • @RikRiorik
      @RikRiorik 2 года назад +1

@@TheReal_DeanD It would be great if Ace made their own harder durometer replacement bushings instead of the whipped cream ones that currently aim to do the job. Wouldn’t have to jerry rig the set up then 😂.

Krux bushings are similar in size to the stock Ace bushings on the Classics; I run the Krux hards on my 44s and they work very nicely.

I run Indy Titaniums with Bones Hards on all 3 of my setups. They are vastly superior to the Indy bushings, including hards, and for the most part have cured death wobbles for me.
