Thank you Seymour Duncan. My custom flying v with a Jazz in the neck and Custom in the bridge haven't let me down since 1988. My friend Mike Morin of Morin amps built it. I was homeless and destitute at one time and that guitar goes to my dear sister's house for safekeeping.
Funny coincidence, I bought a 59 Humbucker two days ago and had never seen this video till now. Very cool to know that gem of sweet sounding goodness was wound on the original machine.
I have one Seymour Duncan pick up on one of my guitars. It’s one of the best pickups I’ve ever heard in my life.
One thing I have learned about Seymour Duncan is that the description of the pickup always matches what you hear when it's installed. Seymour Duncan is my no. 1 choice with a few models from DiMarzio at a very close 2nd.

Seymour's PU's are the best bang for your buck. I've had Seymour's and Tom Holmes and Lindy Fralin. To me, Seymour's has no problem going head to head with any of them.

It's also why in ANY. Gibson relic or copy I redo I use only his passive pickups . I enjoy late 60s to late 70s guitar sounds , his pickups give me the sound I want . The only others I occassionally use are Lindy frailins in a strat copy
I'm moving more towards ALL Seymour Duncan's in everything I rebuild . Especially with the new signature line ...like greenies , lynches , 78s , etc .
I'm probably going to set up a rear bridge greenie humbucker and a set of single coil lynches , with a suhr noise cancelling backplate and stiffer springs , EVH de tuna tremolo , and a Callahan bridge piece . I'm still thinking in what to do with a tele copy I have .

Yeah, but that's ONE pickup. They have SO MANY OTHERS that sound amazing without that price tag. Even their budget "Duncan Performer" series pickups sound great. Can't argue with a $30 s-sized humbucker that sounds excellent.

Has Seymour Duncan played around with neodymium magnets? if so, what's the consensus?
I sort of equate Seymour to mr. Les Paul in many aspects for obvious reasons . He's a great man in his own right .
So all SD pickups are hand made/hand assembled in California by real people... I didn't know that, and based on the price I'm really surprised, I mean a JB is what, $70? That's really low for such an intricately made electronics part manufactured in the US

It’s pretty much all hand made. I think most are machine wound though. However machine wound is high quality
Zephyr pickups my friend... it's like $595.95 per humbucker and $395.95 per single coil. .______.
i have a blk winter and a jazz in my Hamer...ive never liked the JB to muddy to my ears...i think the best pickup SD has ever made is the SH5 i have one in my SG.
It's funny but I have a 59 on a tele neck and I don't dig it, I find it to be muddy with overdrive, it's being replaced by a phat cat soon as it arrives in the post!

I,m not shooting them down..... I,m just saying that they,re not what they used to be... I still use seymour duncan twin tube classic pedal and it,s the best i,ve ever had..... makes the industry standard tube screamer sound basic.....
All i,m saying is in the late 70s-80s seymoure had more hands on over everything.... same as what bare knuckle are doing now.... but have grown to the point where it,s all machine made now..... and left to other people to finalise....
The only thing I don't like about SD is that they put their name real big on every pickup in that tacky Times New Roman font.

Yes Ben that's true but it's on just about every humbucker and single coil which is by far most of their pickups. And I know you can specially order them without the logo but it still stinks. :)

They can probably add a handwound human factor to that winding machine by having it perform slight torsion twists to the wire itself just thinking

is it just me or is that background music the most irritating, contrived, crappy elevator rock music ever to be strummed? i can just see a bunch of mid 50's german tourists boogeyin along to that in some crappy 3 star hotel in tenerife.

I think it adds to the cool factor. Most companies would be ashamed to do so. Duncan has bragging rights

Seymour Duncan.... There not the firm they used to be... I had them in the 80,s (JB and Jazz set) and they where decent back then..... The last set I got was back in 2007 ( Pearly Gates and Alnico 2).... I orderd them off the local rep in Liverpool,U.K. and after waiting about 5 weeks, he brought a set of alnico 2,,,, Then when I told him they where the wrong ones he took the alnico 2.s back and another four weeks later brought a Pearly Gater and Alnico 2.... when I took them to the local guitar teck to put in for me ... they where awful.... could,nt understand why until we checked the DC rating.... and then read the box..... The idiot had given me two bridge pick-ups.....
After that I got Bareknuckle pickups.... The Mule and PG Blues.... These are what Seymour Duncan used to be.... Attention to detail , Well made, and most of all.... They put the customer First,(and not the sale.) Hand wound to the specification you want... and did,nt have to wait 9 weeks for the wrong ones.....
I,ld recomend them to anyone looking for an authentic hand wound pick-up now....

Come on dude - you can not shoot Duncan thanks to one crappy rep! If they were the right pickups and were not what you expected then maybe..
If you’re in the UK, its probably better to stick with local or European pickups for better service. Seymour Duncan pickups are great but boutique smaller companies are good too.
