I’ve always loved visiting creepy places. I didn’t expect to move into one. When I rented my first office, I thought it would be easier to move to the Belvedere when the lease at my old apartment was up. I moved in here a VERY skeptical person. I struggle with believing some of things that have happened in my apartment...things I haven’t talked about publicly in fear of being thought of as crazy. I know there are people who believe the concept of ghosts, spirits whatever you want to call them is ludicrous and will explain away everything in this video as building noise, etc. I can tell you that I went insane trying to rationalize the strange things that have happened in my apartment (and still do). I did street noise tests, found out the apartment next to mine is vacant, checked pipes, everything I could and cannot come to a reasonable explanation. I’ve had friends come here who are non-believers who have experienced activity and go off their rocker when they can’t figure out what is happening. I don’t allow ghost hunting in my apartment. It caused things to escalate the one and only time I had friends in doing EVP sessions. I am STILL hopeful that maybe it is just pipes or people having hushed conversations on the street 10 floors below my closed windows at 3:30 in the morning and somehow it echos out of my bathroom. If I hadn’t produced this video I’d call it fucking bullshit. It is fun to watch though. I have full versions of all the ghost hunts featured in this video at patreon.com/thisisdanbell. Believe...don’t believe...let’s just have fun watching it together! Enjoy!
Wee Wee had a lot of male siblings before she was born. It causes the female of the litter to want to mark their territory because they had so many hormones from the brothers. Your dogs are SO loving those walks tho. Dice is a perfect breed for rat hunting. Terriers never give up. They're sure cute. We have 3 dogs from the middle east and they're bigger so we had to put up a fence around the yard. Stray street dogs. They love to run. I used to board dogs and I sure miss the little guys running around the yard. Waiting to be alone in the house to watch this at midnight...so damn cool.
@@doma7572 Ah, yes, the useless person that feels themselves above everyone else.. It must gratify your worthless soul to feel you are above 339 thumbs up. Have YOU anything of interest to say about the video? No? .. didn't think so Welcome to someone else being rude about you.
It is rather nice. But it's sad that many other places, especially in America, ultimately are abandoned and left to rot. Unless they have had a big cultural significance or were turned into a tourist attraction
It's because people like Dan help keep it going. But even he has his limitations about the city. Every 30 minutes he hears sirens. If anything. If the city is that shit. It is all a waste of time to keep it nice.
Yes. My old school called Ross School in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. Used to be used for a hospital in the war and then a school later on. It stayed abandoned for abit but a few years ago they renovated the whole inside to apartments. And kept the outside the exact same. It’s gorgeous and I am so jealous of anyone who gets to live there haha
Dan is really living in the Backrooms. I've heard stories and history about this hotel before, but to actually live in it for months must have been entertaining to say the least.
What I find interesting is how some parts of the hotel are so well maintained and the others just aren't, like the name plates for the famous people in the frames. They just let them fall off and don't care. Or the 'dead mall' area with the really old curtains. But the lobby, elevators, etc. are still so beautiful.
Dark Greetings, Dan...Stoked to see this during the spooky season. I can confirm that this hotel is haunted af. Was here with Dan at his office, we were walking down the hallway after trying to summon spirits in the stairwell...we got massive goosebumps at the same exact time in the very place that he suspected was haunted. It was intense.
Dan, bud, I don't think this place is good for your mental health at all. I'm watching this and I'm scared af already. Sending you a lot of positive thoughts!
that office complex is straight backroom worthy, no signs of life, still as ever. the small spaces with acoustic tiles and carpet floor give it an anechoic(sound reflection proof) chamber effect. all of the tight blind corners would make me feel as if the lost island smoke monster was both receding around corners as i walk forward an also following just behind, all that and being by yourself. I'm not superstitious but that would be a challenging trip for me to the office in the middle of the night. If i left my laptop or phone or whatever there, it would remain there till tomorrow.
haha.. same. You would not catch me dead in some lonely office in the middle of the night. The light would also stay on until the morning, I would be terrified to turn it off. The mind is a crazy thing.
The Belvedere sounds like it has quite the history, the Rey Rivera death (disputed suicide), Thomas Sutton Jr's suicide, Lawrence Perin's Suicide, Bernice Weber's murder, an unidentified bride's murder in 1918, the homeless worker killing you talked about, another unidentified man's slaying in the 1920's, Harry Hassett's suicide, William King Jr's suspicious death, Leigh Marlow's accidental death, 2 unidentified girls' deaths in an elevator accident/ trampling in the 1930's, Sam Shapiro's murder. Pretty wild stuff. Another fun fact unrelated (kinda) to the Belvedere-- the Milwaukee Ambassador Motel (where Dahmer killed his first victim in Wisconsin, Steven Tuomi, 2nd actual victim after Steven Hicks in his childhood home) was also converted into Apartments, the room which the slaying occurred is still rented out.
I don’t believe in ghosts and haven’t ever been convinced otherwise but I still greatly enjoy Dan’s supernatural content. I appreciate how everything is presented more or less in a matter of fact style without the usual carny tricks you see in 99% of paranormal media. Personally I enjoyed all the liminal spaces and history.
That thing you got going up the stairs is a mist that's moving with purpose. I honestly think whatever is there is negatively impacting your mental health. They can influence that.
Can I'm a panoramal ghost investigator and I totally agree with this as has happened toso many wear protective crystals and pray and put the around your room to warned off any negative entities it really does work!!! I'm an empath sensitive and see any spirits I have cleansed homes and helped rid them of unwanted negatives
@@deeznutt666 He agrees with my comment, so there's that. It's common knowledge that entities can influence you, and your mental, and physical health. They also affect people with mood disorders even more since they already have something they're living with. I was physically attacked in the last house because the more active it got, the more anxious I got, and it just kept escalating. I had to move, and guess what? Not a single anxiety attack since.
He had mentioned it sounded like someone falling down the stairs… It probably tripped over the stuff on the stairs lol That’s why it now walks w a purpose, not to trip and fall again… I’m half joking… But I do agree 100% … it’s probably best for him to move.
Thank you Dan for this video, it is a beautiful building and so is your apartment and love your fur babies. There are so many footprints infused in that building that I want to ask ( from a bipolar) do you ever think that that place messes with your moods, psyche ?
@@ThisisDanBell Thanks for your reply Dan, I have dealt with my bipolar for many years and many dangerous years before being diagnosed correctly, I have also always encountered many types of spirits and it can be such a mind trip as if they smell it on you. Well Dan, I can’t believe this video popped up for me. How long have I known you ? 30 years? As you know we live 3 blocks from The Belvedere. About 7 years ago, on a bitter cold February evening. I was eating in the owl bar alone. There may have been 4 other patrons in the restaurant. I saw an elderly man playing with his hat. Standing just beyond the pizza oven but before the bar. No one seem to of noticed him. He looked totally real. Then I saw him turn and walk through the door beside the bar. Several years later I was in there with Bob the owner at the time. I told him this story. He marched me over to the bartender. The bartender said to Bob - “I told you I saw him !” He apparently saw the same spirit but on a different night. So nice seeing you again, even if it’s just on video. Hugs Neal
@@ThisisDanBell We are fine. There is also a spirit there on the 12th floor, they call the strawberry lady. When ever she is around, the scent of strawberries is prevalent.
30s and 40s would have been seperate hot and cold taps. That bathroom looks just like the bathrooms in my grandparent's house, which was built in 1955.
Holy shit, that sound at the end. I'm watching this at midnight, in the dark, with headphones and the conclusion is absolutely perfect. Now every sound in my room is suspicious.
Nice to see Rick is still out there goofin' around! Some much needed levity in this eerie video. How do your dogs fare with the activity in the apartment?
This was cool and scared the heck out of me. All the paranormal shows on TV are unbelievable they just go to far and all this evil crap sratching and biting everyone...do not believe it for one minute, plus they are so repetitious it is ridiculous. NOW YOUR VIDEO ROCKED!!! You can tell it is real and not exaggerated, it is awesome. Boy would I love to see that place in person. Just awesome, thank you for a really great video!! This is truly a ghost story and I love it!
It is all energy . If you focus on your energy and tune in with your surroundings in deep thought many things and new eye openers a wait you. Energy is a wonderful .... phenomenal thimg.
33:50 onwards is especially creepy. You can almost imagine the residual energy is still there from all the people who have visited the hotel over the many years it's been there. I'm a strong believer in residual hauntings. That energy never goes away. It's almost as though time is linier and past events of someone sat in their hotel room 100 years ago, adjusting their chair on the old wooden floors and playing music repeats itself under the right atmospheric conditions.
The little dogs running through the hallway is so cute. Nice when places allow dogs, they make a house a home. Also, they are great spirit protectors 🤣🤣
While I wasn't there, so I can't judge, I do think the "mist" is a bug, something like a ladybug or Potatoe bug crawling across the lens. Just based on the movement you can almost see the "waddle" effect of a multi legged bug as it traverses across the lens. Those IR Ring type cameras are notorious for picking up anomalies because they use infrared instead of visible light. I'm a skeptical ghost hunter myself, and 90% of things can be explained. It's those other 10% that keep me hunting.
The jumper landed on the second floor behind Truffles catering. I was working there when it happened. We smelled him for a week before he was found. It was awful. As for ghosts - that’s a fact! That building is hella haunted.
I think it’s hard for people to understand unless they spend some time in here. I worked here in 96 as a busboy in the owl bar. There were people who refused to go upstairs after dark. That 13th floor is creepy at 2 in the morning after it emptied out.
@@ThisisDanBell true. I worked at Truffles in 2006/2007 and we used to hear and see all kinds of creepy stuff. Rey Rivera was found directly behind our offices in the 2nd floor. Gary, who was the concierge at the time, was the one who opened the door for the detectives and the first to see what was left of him. Ms. Irene, who managed the Owl Bar when I was there, always told me about the ghosts who haunted the Bar and the 13th Floor. I did see what a man in late 20s/early 30s attire in the Owl Bar one morning and that was enough for me to rethink all of my life choices up until then. And the area above the 13th Floor - the old servants quarters - was terrifying.
@@ThisisDanBell P.S. This was a great video. It brought back a lot of memories and I really think you did the stories of the building justice. Do you think Belvedere & Co. would ever let you investigate the ballrooms/banquet rooms?
@@VickieWithAnIE71 i’ve been up there recently. it’s really unnerving. we used to go out the hatch onto the roof back in the late mid 90s when the 13th floor was actually a bar. so much fun. those little servant rooms though. yikes.
@@VickieWithAnIE71 I’ve asked her about it and she didn’t seem interested. She lives down the hall from me. Very nice lady. She just doesn’t want to hear about ghosts. She said she’s afraid of them. She has that owl bar poppin though. Good food!
This video was so good. One of my favorites! The history, getting to see that beautiful place, and the evidence you captured! Great work, Dan! Oh & at 52:04, someone says "yes" in the mic after you said "I hope this thing is picking up the sound." 😱
Dan you have been missed. I have lived in an active house for the past 12 years, I was once a skeptic, not now. There are 'energies' that we can never fully explain. Love your beautiful dogs. Take care...Susan, (Brisbane Australia).
OMG. I used to frequent the Owl Bar at Belvedere when I lived in Baltimore. The place had a wonderfully old vibe and attracted some very interesting patrons. One of the last times I went, a person in a very uncanny valley full female latex mask sat down next to me...and just sat there in silence. No, it wasn't Halloween. I always wondered what it would be like to live there. Thanks for the video!
@SepherixTheDragon This is the problem with paranormal/extra-scientific investigation of any kind. It's a catch-22, people complain about a lack of good evidence and then when there is arguably good evidence it's all of a sudden too good to be true and discounted as fake.
@SepherixTheDragon I've seen that device used in other videos, and what it did here was totally consistent with the other examples. I don't think it's the dead using it to speak, but I don't really have any reason to think that it was contrived.
@SepherixTheDragon It's a "Ovilus" it's described like this "The device contains a database of words and syllables, and after a question is asked, changes in temperature or magnetic fields caused by spirits can draw an auditory response from the device." So the "voice" is entirely synthesized using a database of pre-programmed words. So all it actually proves is that it there are environmental changes with patterns matching those expected by the device's programmers. The sceptic in me says that the algorithm is weighted towards "spooky" words, it could also be listening for peoples voices and weights words that seem relevant to what it hears, which would explain it saying Dan's name and "devil" immediately after Rick said it.
10:04 - what im hearing is, someone could make a killing opening up a little convenience store... Just the essentials and maybe a section of microwave meals... hell, could even do it japanese style and have the microwaves and little seating area so you can come down, eat and go back.
@@gloomysunday9836 Yeah....it won't be myself because I wouldn't ever want to live anywhere near Baltimore. No offense to Dan or anyone else that lives there, but the politicians who run that place aren't improving the city anytime soon.
I wondered where you had got to. I thought maybe you'd left youtube for more commercial reasons. I didn't realise you were struggling with your mental health. I am so glad I get Dan Bell notifications again. Dan, if you ever feel like things are getting out of hand again, just remember how many people love you. 💑
Guarenteed great night/day when a new Dan Bell video drops. So happy to see you uploaded this, been a fan for years and will be forever more amigo, keep up the grind, thanks for the years of quality content Dan,
My company hosted a Christmas party in one of their ballrooms back in the late 70's/early 80's. It's a shame to see how it's fared. Impressive video, however I do think some of the noise is the building itself, it's old and despite renovations, it is still sitting on an old foundation. It's almost a microcosm of Baltimore City itself in many ways.
10/10 Dan! That place is extremely haunted. Like it has literal poltergeist activity. Very active and intelligent. Who knows what’s beyond our realm of understanding.
Jeez man, no wonder you've been out of it lately. Living in a regular suburb and then visiting my hometown where Indian reservations are at. You forget the paranormal exist, you don't see them but you can just feel something is there. It's really unnerving. The amount of history this building has just reeks of animosity, I'd love to visit, but to live? I'm really glad your finding a new place Dan, hope you like your new one.
I used to get my hair cut there. There once was a Japanese restaurant and sushi bar. Also a short lived Russian nite club. The Ball room is beautiful and Grand. If those walls could talk. The first floor banquet rooms and lobby are classic. The thirteenth floor has terrific view and was always a cocktail lounge. Don't fear the ghosts they will do you no harm. At least most of them! 😂 Lol
This is what any paranormal investigation should be: immersive, professional, and covering every possible logical explanation that could debunk the supernatural. Excelent work, Dan! I have a question, were there any TV on at 38:26 ? I clearly hear a male voice saying something after your friend says "Ooop, it just killed my video again!"
This video is so amazing, I watched it at 4am in bed with no lights on, on my phone lol. I can't wait for someone to make a time stamp list of activities in the video, the tablet was absolutely crazy how did it do that????
I loved this video! One of the scariest ones from you I think. Very well put together. Love you Dan. Keep representing Baltimore. 🧡. I am born and raised in Baltimore and it’s nice to see you shed light on a different side of history and culture through all your videos. I have learned so much! 🧡
Amazing documentary Dan!! I could watch content like this all day every day!! I picked up so many little weird things in this. Definitely a whisper just after 52:02 after you say 'I hope this is picking up the sound'. And when you were showing us the pictures of all the people who had stayed there....you spoke about the woman who did the voice in the exorcist. Why does she have an upturned cross on her nose?? 18:30 :-/ P.S I wanna live there!!!!
Yesss that is strange I searched and couldn’t find ANY other pictures on Google image search of her with that upturned cross on her nose can someone else please also provide input on the upturned cross on Mercedes McCambridge’s nose in this portrait??
This is one of your best videos...holy sheeeeeet! I heard a woman's soft voice a few times during the last scene in your room. Anyone else hear it? I watch a lot of paranormal vids online hoping to see proof of something, anything. Some are so fake. But, not yours. A real treat, no tricks. Happy Halloween 🎃
Dr. Raymond Stantz: The whole building is a huge, superconductive antenna that was designed and built expressly for the purpose of pulling in and concentrating spiritual turbulence. Your girlfriend lives in the corner penthouse... of Spook Central. Dr. Peter Venkman: She's not my girlfriend. I find her interesting because she's a client and because she sleeps above her covers... FOUR FEET above her covers. She barks, she drools, she claws! Dr. Egon Spengler: It's not the *girl*, Peter, it's the *building*.
The sounds of moving furniture behind the walls - TERRIFYING! Living in a not too old townhouse, sometimes I hear footsteps in the stairwell, quite distinct, but I always make myself convinced it is coming from the neighbors next door, as their stairwell must be attached to the same wall as mine.. But is it? Not so sure! However, when you KNOW that there is no one there, behind the wall, and yet you hear heavy pieces like dressers or such being dragged across the floor.. Man, it is scary!
I lived in a hundred year old apartment building in Lakewood, Ohio not too long ago. Never really had anything creepy happen there other than the plumbing fking up at least once a month. I did locate a "phantom doorway" where there was a latch for a door that had clearly been painted over in the hallway between my living room and bedroom. Don't know why tf I always found that creepy. Don't even get me started on the basement of that place. I don't scare easily. That basement was Silent Hill scary.
Dan: (lets dogs loose) Me: And they're off, both dogs quickly gaining speed! Approaching turn one, both dogs come to a screeching halt; the black one sprints back as the white one stands there... Sorry-- I don't know where the hell all that came from. 😀
@@nikkireigns I heard it in an "off to the races" type voice. Like the guy calling the horse race. "Big Rd up the middle with Darwin's nose just a half a length behind..." "Snowballs Toes, needs to tighten the reigns (reins properly in this usage) if they are going to close that gap and take first place"

Nice to see an old place like this that isn't unused and moldering.
It is rather nice. But it's sad that many other places, especially in America, ultimately are abandoned and left to rot. Unless they have had a big cultural significance or were turned into a tourist attraction
What's the rent?

I've heard stories and history about this hotel before, but to actually live in it for months must have been entertaining to say the least.
haha I thought of the back rooms too!!!
SAME!!! LOL SO CRAZY
Huh? For months? He STILL LIVES THERE.
You seriously can't listen huh? He was talking about the 2 OFFICES HE RENTED AS WELL at the hotel.
What I find interesting is how some parts of the hotel are so well maintained and the others just aren't, like the name plates for the famous people in the frames. They just let them fall off and don't care. Or the 'dead mall' area with the really old curtains. But the lobby, elevators, etc. are still so beautiful.
It’s a big wedding hotel. One of the fanciest in the city (or at least it used to be) so they keep the lobbies and bars up immaculately.
Yea cuz people can SEE those parts the others are rarely seen by any random public.

that office complex is straight backroom worthy, no signs of life, still as ever. the small spaces with acoustic tiles and carpet floor give it an anechoic(sound reflection proof) chamber effect. all of the tight blind corners would make me feel as if the lost island smoke monster was both receding around corners as i walk forward an also following just behind, all that and being by yourself.

Hugs Neal

That ghost was using the bathroom and you were interrupting and filming it.
Rude.

I always wondered what it would be like to live there. Thanks for the video!
Jesus, those voices from the Spiritbox gave me a damn heart attack. That's some of the creepiest stuff I've heard.
@SepherixTheDragon This is the problem with paranormal/extra-scientific investigation of any kind. It's a catch-22, people complain about a lack of good evidence and then when there is arguably good evidence it's all of a sudden too good to be true and discounted as fake.
@@acaustik8763 Agreed
@SepherixTheDragon completely agree, as soon as they came on I smelled bullshit.
@SepherixTheDragon I've seen that device used in other videos, and what it did here was totally consistent with the other examples.
I don't think it's the dead using it to speak, but I don't really have any reason to think that it was contrived.
@SepherixTheDragon It's a "Ovilus" it's described like this "The device contains a database of words and syllables, and after a question is asked, changes in temperature or magnetic fields caused by spirits can draw an auditory response from the device."
So the "voice" is entirely synthesized using a database of pre-programmed words.
Oh Dan, I hope you get out of there. Very uneasy feeling about that place. Don't want it to drain you!

My company hosted a Christmas party in one of their ballrooms back in the late 70's/early 80's. It's a shame to see how it's fared. Very cool! I used to do Historic preservation cleaning when I was taking college classes. I’d love to have a crack at some of that old furniture.
