The back story on the project. I was discussing tools with C-Lo from the Rockstar Husqvarna Team during press day at the A2 Supercross. Every factory technician uses an 8mm T-Handle more than any other tool and they carry them to practice and the races. This first Ti T-Handle is for testing purposes. Can we reduce the weight of the tools the techs must carry all day? Feel is very important to the techs, if it tests good we will produce sets to sell. 6061.com is an MX'er and we found the right person to help with the project. Thanks again 6061.com!

Factory Wrench Tools I bet it does well. Especially since it won’t get as hot/cold in the hands. Imagine, you could have 2 of these on your person and it would weigh as much as one steel one.

A few things worth mentioning, please read before commenting:
0:44 Should've just parted off the socket in the lathe instead of turning it down until it split
1:15 Gloves on the lathe. I know where I can and can't put my hands in order to stay safe. Use good judgement.
4:58 I rarely machine titanium. Most of my tooling is for aluminum. 3-flute end mills aren't intended to machine titanium. That's why it's chattering a bit.
8:32 This may look dangerous, but it isn't. There's a foot rocker pedal that is extremely controllable on this press brake. It moves very slowly.
8:53 The titanium one is quite a bit lighter, but it is also made out of sightly smaller diameter material.
-Titanium isn't nearly as "stiff" as steel, so this has more torsional flex. It's not bad, but it's noticeable compared to steel. It's closer to aluminum than it is to steel in rigidity: Steel-29, Titanium 16.5, Aluminum 10.

Love watching these videos. As a fellow MX'er myself, here's a suggestion for a project: Make a proper fuel jug for race gas. Everyone knows race fuel loses octane over time, and that's especially true if it's stored in HDP (high density polyethylene) jugs. I'd love to see a 2 to 2.5 gallon jug made out of some good stainless (316 would be nice). While you can buy stainless jerry cans, none I've found are designed to empty very well. It would be a thing of beauty to see one with a funnel shaped mouth for complete emptying. Add a proper vent and you've got something every racer wants. If I had your skills, it'd be a done deal already!

55 gallon drums just aren’t very track friendly, so you need a smaller transfer vessel for fueling.

I made one of these to carry in my riding backpack but instead of a socket on the end I made a 1/4" square with a ball detent like a typical ratchet. The ball detent was very tricky but it works great and allows the use of any 1/4" drive socket.
    Something to consider

Fellow Mx'er here. I don't need to purge with argon to weld this? I'd like to try this. I made my own t-handle years ago (Cr-mo) and have made a lot of similar custom tools in stainless, carbon steel, and upon occasion, Ti. In the past I've cheated and put a 3/8" drive on the end, instead of making a whole set of T-handles. Likewise, I've made a lot custom sockets to fit various machinery and usually will machine a custom socket out to use an interference fit to press in a spare junk socket and weld that in. Especially useful when I have a tight location castle or spanner nut that requires special torque working on CNC lathes and mills.
