Video answered my question of what the actual LEDs look like. Soldered to the board as expected. And now I know how to replace my motors if one ever fails.
This and another video helped me solve our gauge issue on a similar mustang (6-gauge). They don’t make these clusters anymore: you have to fix it yourself. Thank God for the internet.
HEY? have you ever fixed a daytime dash light? my 2008 gt500 has the daytime light out for the temperature gague only. the rest are working and it looks funny? any thoughts?
Removing the gauge pointers for 2007 GT the same as you do in the video ? I have seen it being done by rotating the pointer anti clockwise a couple of turns ?
After 7 years of having zero functional instruments I finally stopped my live action adaptation of Planes Trains and Automobiles and fixed it. The indicator arms are held on by friction so you are just lifting the arms up with even force, I used very small curved nosed needle nosed pliers. Using my $10 electronics soldering iron I was able to get the motors to come off with a lot of work. Applying a pulling force then quickly heating up one pin then the other on the same side. On reinstall even my somewhat sloppy solder job was fine and go everything back on and working without any magic smoke. For setting the gages I plugged the console into the car and turned the power on and placed the indicators at the zero. I then went and topped up the fuel and made sure it was pointing to full, then took a quick trip using my phone's GPS to hit highway speed and made sure my speedometer was accurate, temperature was right in the middle (normal) so I figured that was good and as for the tac, I honestly couldn't care but It seems correct. In short the solder was the worst due to my poor tools, everything else was fine.
If the speedometer needle is stuck at the bottom but if I move it to the correct position it works fine for a bit and the drops back is that the motor?
Hello sir. I just finish fixing the cluster but. Rpm needle instead of going up it goes down...The other needles working perfectly fine..can u pls help?
Have you come across the issue with the cluster sounds not working? Specifically the turn signal clicking noise, seat belt / ignition start chime? Mine works intermittently.
If you turn the ignition on the gauge cluster will start getting signals from the car to raise the fuel level and volt gauge. You can just plug it in and you will hear the gauge needles resetting to zero and then install the needles carefully and then check the calibration by unplugging it and plugging it in again.
I have a 2006 Mustang, the instrument lights on the right half of the cluster do not work. I removed the cluster and inspected the circuit board. There is a burned out component that I can not get a number from. Can I get a cluster from a salvage yard and install it? How is the mileage stored? Is it in the gage circuit board or the cars computer?
Hey I’ve recently replaced the gauge cluster cover and in doing that I kinda messed up the gas and rpms. Could you help? Also the coolant temp and oil levels never worked properly. Could all of that be repaired? Went to Ford and they tried to get me to buy a whole new cluster
Yes we can rebuild it for you. Here is a link to the service www.automotivecircuitsolutions.com/products/2005-ford-mustang-gauge-speedometer-instrument-ipc-cluster-repair-service
If you don’t own a de-soldering gun, but own a soldering iron, you can still get them off by opening the old motors themselves by the clips. Heat up one solder point while pulling and they will come off one by one. To put them back on, heat up each point individually to shimmy them back on. Good luck soldier.
While this can work if you're careful, we have seen people rip the pad and trace off the circuit board using this method. It's better to us a cheap solder sucker or desoldering braid with flux.
Quick few questions on this. I have an 05 mustang a few months ago I had an issue with the RPM gauge not reading correctly and eventually it fixed itself but the gas gauge has just started acting up and is no longer reading so I’m leaning towards this being the issue I will have it diagnosed at the local Ford Dealer before going any further but my question to you is if I were to get ahold of another mustang gauge cluster and replace it with the one I have would it still read the correct mileage or would I need the ford dealer to reprogram the correct mileage to it? Or is the mileage stored in the ECU? Thanks again.
The mileage is stored on the gauge cluster so replacing it will change the mileage. I'm pretty sure Ford will not adjust the mileage on a used cluster, they will only change the mileage if they sell you one. That's why it is always best to get your parts rebuilt instead of replaced.
So my Tachometer just started going haywire. I clicked the link in the description to get a repair from you and I just had a few questions. On your options once I selected cluster repair it asked me to pick a color. My mustang has the option to cycle through about 6 different colors. If I got the repair with you would I be stuck with 1 color?
Hey man my cluster works fine it just takes a couple seconds for the gauges to work after the cars been turned on, my main concern is as I’m turning the car on the cluster makes a weird buzzing noise, just like the buzz that comes from the stepper motors. Does that mean I need to replace
Curious as to how many volts you used to power up the cluster. What kind of power supply where you using? Is there a good one you recommend on amazon? Thanks. Looking forward to tackling this project
12-14v for all automotive clusters. We currently have and use a few of these amzn.to/3m5P3LK . Great programmable power supply with 6 different voltage and amperage presets.

Hello, I apologize for the late response. Please do not desolder the stepper motors with just the soldering iron. The traces are very delicate on this cluster so it's very easy to pull them off the circuit board. Thanks for watching.
@@AutomotiveCircuitSolutions too late lol. I already messed it up... But thanks for the reply. I asked some guy on eBay if they can fix it. They said that they will be able to. So hoping that works.

I have a question, I have read that if you change this gauge cluster that the car will not start until the cluster is programmed once installed, also a security programming must be performed. is this only true if the cluster is different form the cars original cluster or does this have to happen at all. Ive changed other gauge clusters in cars and have never had an issue with it before...do you know anything about this? Thank you for your time - Greg
letthewinderaseme I believe in this particular model the cluster doesn't need to be programmed for the car to start. But if you change the cluster your mileage will need to be programmed as it is stored in the cluster. That's why it's always best to rebuild instead of replace.
You do that by changing all the little LEDs to a different color. We can do that for you if you would like to send it in let me know I will send you the details. You can email us at autocsolutions@gmail.com

It's either a stuck float in the tank or a sticking stepper motor.
