The tip does have a difference when feel and spin but doesn't have a huge (it's minuscule) difference when it comes to how low deflection a shaft is. Dr. Dave has a video testing the theory, ruclips.net/video/nx4r0NSsxqo/видео.html I do want to my own testing sometime to see what results I get and compare them to Dr. Dave. I do agree that the joint doesn't make a difference when it comes to deflection, most of my comments that related to the wood over the plastic joint were more about feel. I didn't mean to infer that the joint types played a role in the deflection testing. Well I do hope you liked the video and thanks for watching!
@@PoolAddiction hey I have the shaft and it has made a significant difference in a lot of categories. I'm happy to chat if you want me to try anything out with it.
Whenever you get around to it it would be great if you could do a review of the TIGER Products Fortis carbon fiber shaft. Its comes in 12mm and 12.5mm but I prefer the 12mm. The people need to hear its feedback sound. It’s unlike any other carbon fiber shaft out there in terms of response and playability. Love your videos man, keep it up.
I'm a bit late to this video, but I have a question about the numbers at 22:56. Am I reading this correctly that the custom shaft with the wood rings had nearly *half* the deflection of the standard GO shaft? (nearly a fourth on a medium hit!!)? *And* it hits more like wood than a REVO? That seems too good to be true. If those numbers are correct I need to be shipping a donor shaft over to Goran as soon as humanly possible. Bonus question: now that you've owned the shaft for a year (although I'm sure you've been playing with lots of different cues over that time), how is it holding up? Are you still playing with it regularly?
Hi, Nate thanks for the comment. Yes, those are the results that I got. I am not sure why they were that different between the two, GO Customs said there shouldn't be any difference. I tested both of them on the same day. The only difference is the joint. That said, I am human and can't replicate the same exact stoke every time and that has to be factored in but I wouldn't think that would cause that big of a difference. I think they had different tips too but again shouldn't be a huge factor unless you add them all up, I'm not sure. I don't look at the testing until I am editing so I don't see where the ball hits on the rail until then which helps me be unbiased. I don't still play with either of them, I have been playing with the Hsunami for over a year now as my main shaft. They are both good shafts but I don't play much with them anymore. Thanks for watching!
I definitely plan to, hopefully this sometime this year. I have another shaft review I’m working on now. The ignite might be the next shaft review I do after that one. Thanks for the comment and watching!
great review ... I think it's funny that you say you keep your BeCue Prime M ... I have that too and I think it's much too soft and the hit is also very modest. I think the Go Customs SL 12.0mm is much better as well as the Ignite, which are very similar, stiff, crisp hit, very LD.
Thanks! I love to hear what other's experiences are with these shafts. I know some people live and die by the Revo and others like another like the Go. I did enjoy the Go but I just like the Prime M more and that's me and the way I like to play. You mentioned the crisp hit of the Go, for me it was a little too crisp. I do know what you mean about the Prime M being a modest hit but I don't mind that. The shaft's feedback and feel goes a long way on what I like in a shaft, of course it has to hit right though. A lot of CF shafts have a tink or tonk type noise/feel and in my opinion the Prime M deadens that better. You mentioned the Ignite. I hope to get my hands on one of them this year a do a review, I have heard nothing but great things about them. Like I say with all of my reviews is everyone is a bit different and we all tend to like different things with they way the play and the equipment they play with and I always say find what works for you and stick with it. Thank you for the comment! I love comments like these, it adds a lot to the conversation about a part of the game we love.
Could I get like a 3/4inch ferrule put on a GO customs shaft? Or a full core carbon fiber shaft instead of a filled one like the one you just reviewed?
The only part of the shaft that's wood is the joint area where he used the donor shaft I sent him to transplant the joint ringwork so it would match my cue. The wood only goes in about 1.5 - 2 inches. The rest of the shaft is the way he normally makes it. Every company does something a little different when it comes to what's inside the shaft. They all tend to use some kind hardened foam in various spots of the shaft to give it their low deflection qualities as well as what the company thinks will make a great playing shaft. As a result they do tend have their own unique traits. I would love to cut cross sections into some of these shafts and see how they are made but man that would be expensive! Thanks for watching and the comment!
I hit some CF shafts other guys let me put on my cue butt and liked them a lot. I did notice some differences in how the hits felt like cynergy vs revo etc. I didn't know whether the difference had more to do with cue tips than it had to do with the characteristics of the shafts themselves. I do believe tips are a factor but each company at says that they use their own technology when it comes to the internals of the CF shaft (type of foam used and exactly where they place it within the shaft).
