There he is!!! People are asking me to review my Predator Revo, which I'll eventually do. At 2:21, you can see the difference in the shade of black between the shaft and the butt of the cue. The Revo is basically the same thing which is the first thing I didn't really like. It would've been great if the shade of black was the same as the butt of the cue.
This changed my mind from buying revo to switching cue to Mezz and Ignite combo lol. After playing for a bit, definitely enjoyed the hit and feel. However I find myself missing more, especially the rail shot, because I was used to playing with 11.5 tip (modified Z) for so long. Will take time to adjust but it’s a fun cue combo
I got rly obsessed with mezz ignite after watched your review that later I got my very own ignite, second-hand of course. it's by far the best carbon fiber shaft I tried, among which I own a predator revo 12.4 and a pechauer rogue, and my friend's cuetec synergy. it's got the most instant feedback, the firmest hit and lowest deflection (at least to my feeling). The shaft is a bit heavier than others, so every stroke is effortless, just gently send the cue out and let it do the rest. and the cue ball will get there as you intended. Can't believe it's so underrated. Thank you for sharing your honest review. I'm happy about it. Please keep posting interesting clips like this!
Hey Oliver I habe a question for you please. I have never had a Carbon shaft, just qood. Whats the Difference between these shafts? Its like the wood one or its better? Do you preffer this shaft over wood? Thanks
@@arijano82 @Arijano A Hi Ari. Your question was quite hard to answer. These carbon fibre shafts are of different qualities, e.g. in balance, diameter, material, taper etc. Also, with different butts and different cue tips, they would differ quite dramatically. Your way of stroke would also affect your preference of one over the others. After a few months of playing with these shafts , I ended up with Pechuaer Rogue as my main shaft, and a Revo 12.4 as a spare. Main reason is that the Rogue shaft hits more like a wooden one, which allows me to "over hit" the cue ball with less energy goes into it. In other words, it's easier to execute positional shot. Revo on the other hand will allow me to do the same with less effort, however it's trickier for me to control my stroke therefore the cue ball. My suggestion is that, if you are unhappy with your wooden shafts, Revo 12.9 would be a good starting point. it's stiff, accurate, low deflection, allows you to execute extreme shots easily. but the most important thing in this game is your technique, way more than any equipment. BUT always try before you buy. Hoping this can help. 😀
@@arijano82 Well, in this case I'll describe my feelings to each of the shafts for you. BUT remember the feeling is quite personal so you may not feel excactly the same as I did. Revo 12.4 is the stiffest, with the least deflection. However it doesn't allow much of " error " when hitting the cue ball because a minor inaccuracy can be magnified to a huge miss-hit to the object ball. Ruthless, if you may. If you are an advanced player with above average cueing, the shaft will make you a better positional shot maker. Revo 12.9 is more suitable for an entry level palyer with a bit more deflection than the 12.4. It accommodates imperfect cueing better, and with larger diameter your stroke power delivery is easier. Mezz ignite is quite unique, as it comes in 12.5 in diameter, and its taper is different with Revo. The stiffness and deflection are similar to REVO. BUT it comes with mezz's joint, which are not compatible to other cue brands. Rogue hits a little bit softer with a sound similar to wooden shafts, which I like. The shaft is made of mixed fibers other than pure carbon fiber, which has wider range of imperfect cueing tolerance. My suggestion is to buy used shafts instead of new ones, to minimize your cost of trying. Hope you get your perfect cue soon~ 😃

I have a question. I have the cuetec carbon 11.8. But i want a new shaft with a bigger taper. Only not to big. Cuetec only has 12.5 and i was thinking about a 12.2 like the ignite 12.2. But now the question, do they play very different? Because i dont know wich one to buy. Im scared the ignite will play very different because im so used to cuetec now. So it will be the ignite or the cuetec 12.5. I hope you know the answer
The ignite will play different. The Ignite is lower deflection than the cuetec and offers more feel and feedback. The taper is also different. Ignite taper is stiffer while the cuetec has a longer extended pro taper. The cuetec brand new has a sniper tip which gives a softer hit. While the ignite has a zan tip which is more crispy and sharp hit. I feel the ignite also offers more power. If you’re use to the cuetec and don’t want change then stick with a cuetec. My personal opinion, I like the ignite better but everyone has their own preferences. Thanks for watching my videos

I wouldn’t want you to waste a lot of tome with a similar video but could you attempt to state an order for the deflection for all the carbon shafts you’ve tried? I would be just curious how they all ranked in your experience
Weight of the shaft can vary depending on joint. When I ordered from Mezz USA I specifically asked for a heavier one in United joint. I haven’t tested the other Ignite shafts with the new joints. I’d imagine they wills be similar.
Just curious, would it be possible to use the Ignite carbon fiber shaft with the butt of a Voodoo cue? I’m new to actually buying my first pool cue, and like the design of the Voodoo cue, but wondering if it’s upgradeable over time? Or do I need to stay within the same manufacture on part upgrades?

Is there any notes or pointers of what one should get or do to their shaft when they first receive it?
@@christopherm7741 Mine is a 7ft Diamond Pro Am table. Single piece slate. I chose a Diamond over a Brunswick because I like how the Diamond table plays. I believe price was around $6000 delivered and installed at the time (prices has went up since then). Triple slate tables are generally bought because of transportation purposes such as setting up a table in the basement or upstairs. Congrats on ordering your new cue. There isn't much to do with a new carbon shaft. The beauty of carbon shafts is that they have much less maintenance. The biggest thing is to NEVER sand or burnish carbon fiber. All that is needed to clean the shaft is to use the provided alcohol wipes.
Suggestion: With deflection tests, the most “objective” way I’ve seen is to use a pivot/bridge length test... Basically you finding pivot point by hitting with X tips of English and adjusting bridge length until the cue ball hits the object ball and basically stops in place, spinning in place. Just a thought. If you need to see how to do this, I believe Dr. Dave has a video doing this.
@@TheBilliardCorner it'll provide (what I believe) to be more repeatable results, especially when comparing between shafts. Personally, I'd pair it with an OB blue to demonstrate your stroke is the same on both shots LOL but I'm crazy... ;)

Sounds like you prefer the ignite overall vs the revo...rogue or black? I thought the black was up there for u also
I tend to reach for the Ignite more for the power on 9ft tables. The black is high up on the list though. Offers greater feel and feedback.
I wouldn’t want you to waste a lot of tome with a similar video but could you attempt to state an order for the deflection for all the carbon shafts you’ve tried? I would be just curious how they all ranked in your experience
Has there been an update to this review since Mezz is now offering other joints? What is the weight of these shafts??
Weight of the shaft can vary depending on joint. When I ordered from Mezz USA I specifically asked for a heavier one in United joint. I haven’t tested the other Ignite shafts with the new joints. I’d imagine they wills be similar.
Are you going to do more of these types of reviews like jacoby black shaft and others
Yes :)
Cheers! Will there be a chance to test the shaft "Defy of McDermott" ? Congratulations for your excellent channel.
Went to the shop to buy it, tried it out and put it back. Did not like it at all...
Most likely no because the pin on your Voodoo cue is different.
@@TheBilliardCorner I haven’t purchased any cue’s yet, but was thinking the Jacoby shafts look to be more universal with pin connections. Are the links in your video’s to product pages Affiliate links? Would be good to know if they are so that you get something in return for your helpful content. Also thank you for replying so quickly. I’m definitely interested in carbon fiber for it’s anti-warping benefits.
@@christopherm7741 Most are Non-Affiliate except for my chalk videos. Glad you enjoy my content :) Seyberts or Pooldawg are great websites to buy from.
@@TheBilliardCorner Quick question, which model Diamond Table do you have? Is it single or triple slate? And price range for that build? I’m still up in the air about a Brunswick table over Diamond.
Also I just ordered my first cue Mezz ACE-184 with Ignite 12.2 shaft that came with a second shaft WX Alpha Shaft.
Also was the first clip of you shooting with a Revo or something cuz that sounded really funny but the next few clips sounded fine...
All Ignite in this video.
Hello good morning. How can i order the mezz ignite thru online? Thanks a lot.
Check out Mezz Official website
Do you prefer ignite or revo shaft?
I prefer the Ignite at this moment. Revo is still a great shaft though :)
Can you do a review on the meucci carbon fiber shafts. Thank you.
How about revo shaft 12.4 vs ignite
Wish you could have made a video on the ACE cue looks beautiful.
The Mezz Ace cue was a fantastic cue. Fit and finish was top notch! Sadly sent it back to Mezz in Japan because it was a demo cue.
How can I get one from Japan?
hey dude I reed youre coment on Briana's video and glad you enjoy her video ;)
Do you prefer ignite or cynergy?
I have yet to test the Cynergy. However, Ignite is my current favorite at this moment.
Could you do a review of the defy shaft 12.5?
Mighty car mods fan too!!!
EYYYY!
Great suggestion, I'll take a look at Dr. Dave's (The OG) video!
@@TheBilliardCorner it'll provide (what I believe) to be more repeatable results, especially when comparing between shafts. Personally, I'd pair it with an OB blue to demonstrate your stroke is the same on both shots LOL but I'm crazy... ;)
What is your favorite carbon shaft?
link of where you buy this cue please

Do they have 3x8x10 modified?
They do now. I just ordered one in 3/8 modified and it will be here tmrw. Brian from JJcues has Ignite shafts in a whole bunch of joints now. Straight from Mezz too. Good luck.
can you make a video about MIT BLACK ARROW carbon fiber shaft...
The black arrow should be banned from anyone buying it. The worst pool shaft on this side of heaven. Brutal.
is that a mcm super turbo poster behind you?
Yes it is!
The ignite can control the natural and very flexible ball bearings..
So how do you like your shaft???
Now that your video is 2 years old, which shaft is your favorite?
Ignite been my favorite Carbon shaft
@@TheBilliardCorner how would you rank all of them?
Is the grip on that butt leather or irish linen? I rly like that cue...
Yup linen wrap
Hm this cue??
With predator revo which better?
Depends on what you like, all preference. Can't go wrong with either.
I wish mezz would offer this in more joint sizes. If they had it in 3/8x10 I'd buy this in a heart beat.
They recently released them in 3/8x10
@@TheBilliardCorner
Sweet. Thanks for letting me know.
@@michaelrobinson6629 no problem
They now have all joints.. Got mine from Brian from JJcues online. Tmrw I'll have an Ignite shaft for my 3/8 modified cue. Can't wait!!! Good luck.
I just purchased the Defy shaft with a McDermott cue. Getting it Saturday. Always liked McDermott, just wish I could've found some reviews for it first. But oh well.
why would i get this one for over 500 when I can get the revo for cheaper ?!!!
Crisper hit, 12.2mm, solid United or Wavy joint, unique taper, Incredible Japanese build quality...lol
Where can I buy ?
mezzusa.com
Try the Viking siege it what I use in my opinion Viking cues are the best in the world but there carbine fiber shafts truly the works I have try the cue Tec the predator and the mucci Viking got there nail down if I get a chance try one and there made a 100 percent in America
U sorry should have proof read it lol
@@zachreddish4208 I've been leaning towards the Viking Siege, but I have had limited feedback, so I'm now trying to find more feedback. Are you still liking the Siege over the others? Are there any specifics compared to the others mentioned that you can comment on? Thanks very much!

mezz made in Japan, amazing quality
Yup
You find revo or ignite better ???
I prefer the Ignite at this moment. Revo is still a great shaft though :)
@@TheBilliardCorner just one haha
Honestly, if you want us to hear the hit of the cue, you shouldn't be hitting another ball after striking the cue ball. Just hit the cue ball into a rail so we can just hear the sound that the shaft makes.
Good idea, will try that next time
🎱👍
The only cue that I want but I cant afford it🙃huhu
Subie wave ;)
I think the hit sounds horrible...i really dont like the look of a black shaft either...ill keep my predator z-3
Hm?
I follow you from Iraq I want to post me cue good Quality
Yak yak no thanks u beat a hand spliced snooker cue sorry guys it's a defo no no from me.
Hi dude. How I wish to have such kind of Shaft. Can I have your spare shaft? Heheh
Mezz... (to me) very expensive cues.
Expensive but extremely high quality :)
"The hit is similar to wood which is a huge plus for me"
Everyone just use wood and save $500. Don't be fooled by carbon fiber, like the cycling world is
How is the cycling world fooled by carbon fiber? Sounds like you're spouting some BS right there.
Personally I had a fully-lugged steel frame prior to riding a Trek Madone 5.5 and the difference was so drastic in power transfer that I never looked back (in spite of the extra ass-soreness from such a stiff frame!).
@@explosivehotdogs thats the point you if your not racing you don't need a sore arse when riding a bike. Titanium or stainless steel is light as f and better for most people who own a carbon bike but that's not what the bike industry tell them that. Carbon shafts hit is firm sure, power is better also but do they play as well as a wood shaft for feel NOPE! Carbon break or jump cues makes absolute sense just like a racing bike in carbon. But a playing shaft you need some flex and feel just like say titanium for someone who isn't racing but likes riding a bike. How many pros have now stopped using carbon fiber shafts ?
@@gclh22 I personally loved my carbon fiber machine, sore arse and all : )
