Thanks man, for my first time ever installing a graphics card this was straight forward and infinitely helpful. I had the 8+6 pin connector so I was a little confused, this cleared everything up. Very much appreciated! Have fun with your freshly installed GPU guys :)
Thank you for this video. I took out my graphics card to upgrade my fan and couldn’t work out why I appeared to have too many power leads available when I put it back. It required 10 pins with 2 unused. Your video let me put it back with confidence. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for going into detail. I'm a new PC builder and most of the other videos glance over the details. I wasn't sure if I could leave the extra 2 pins unconnected but you made it clear!
thank you man for this video. getting ready to do a build and was trying to figure out a 2 PCIe 8-pin + 1 PCIe 6-pin psu and I learned more from you than several of the big channels. I think it's going to work and I can breathe now!
I haven't worked on zotac 3070ti but i have used 3080 ant 3090. Both models only had 2 x 8pin power connection. I am not sure if your card actually has more than 2 x 8 on connection. For such a card type psu should be having individual pcie cables. Some psu come with 2 pcie cable with 8pin x2 per cable. The second 8pin being a pigtail. Higher end psu might have 3 separate cables. So depending on the number of cables you adjust. But such a card requires atleast a psu with 2 separate pcie power cables.
Wow, this actually helped a lot thanks! I got a 3060 ti from amazon for retail and I was scared to see that it needs 2 connections from the psu unlike my 1650 but this video cleared my confusion. Have a good day!
Rtx 3060 oc edition has 8 pin and also some version had 8pin + 6 pin which is an overkill. Rtx 3060 ti can be 8 pin + 6 pin with a max of 8pin + 8 pin. Even rtx 3080 needs only two 8 pins. So i am not sure about your 12 pin requirement unless you are talking about FE cards from nvidia directly
@@2FarTech yes maybe its 3060Ti FE version by NVIDIA which has 12 pin requirement - they provide the adapter with it - this is what I read in google results
Yes. That's what i wanted to say. Even if its 12 pins, it comes with an adaptor. I have all the premium cards in the rtx 3000 series except 3090 now. But no FE.
Thanks for this video. I built a system with a GTX570 10 years ago. It has 2 6 pin connectors, I just bought a GTX 970 & it has a 6 pin & an 8 pin connector. I looked in motherboard box & the connectors you show are in there.
Thanks Kamilia! I don't know why the Indians can do it and no-one else can. I look for Tech videos from Indian Tech gurus before I click on anyone else and once again you prove me right
Am using R9 280x it requires 1 6pin and 1 8pin and my supply only have 6 pin ....Can i Use Sata to 8pin Connector or 6pin to 2x 8pin to power my card? Plz respond
If your psu had 1 x 8pin, i would have said go ahead and use 2 x sata to 1 x 6 pin. But a psu with 1 x 6 pin is actually limited on the total power available typically. For example HP workstation psu comes with 1 x 6 pin. If you use an AMD graphics card in the pc and use sata to 8pin and play a game, the chances are the psu will shut down. How do i know this? I build 100s of pcs in different configurations and tested such cases. Now if you are lucky this might not happen to you immediately. Then there are 2 possibilities, 1. It shutdown later when psu overheats or blows up 2. It works for ever without any issue for the rest of its life. I know everyone wants to have option 2, for that you have to experiment and the result might be costly if it blows up
I have a 8+6 pin slot but just a 6 pin power cord. I plugged that in & it says i need to power to it.. do i need both connections? If so & my computer doesn't have both what do I do?
6 pin power cord means you are limited on power by your psu manufacturer. The best way to go about it would be to upgrade the psu to a better one. 600 watts psu or better. Branded like Deepcool, aerocool, Thermaltake, corsair etc...
Thank you so much! I was not connecting the 2 pin ground first and I couldn't get the GPU connected no matter what I tried. I was so frustrated. I'm upgrading and moved from 1-6 pin to 2-8 pins, which surprised me. Got it hooked up and everything is working. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
My wife just purchased a new video card with a 6 and 8 pin cable. We don't know where to plug it into the motherboard (the power supply). Do you have a guide for that?
Question: i have a modular Seasonic Focus 850W 80 plus gold, it has a single PCI-E cable with two 4-pin connectors. Do i use 2 separate PCI-E cable or that single one will be enough?
Depends on the graphics card. If the card has 2 x 8 pin ports on it, then its better if you would connect two separate cables. It will work if you use single cable, but that's not recommended
Its has 2 x 8 pin 1 x 6 pin Which means you need a psu with 4 x 8 pin (6+2) You will use 3 connections from those 4 pins. What's your psu? Unless you have atleast a good branded 750watts psu, don't use the card. You can Also try to use the card with just 2 x pins connected and see if you get a display. Typically gtx 3070ti uses 2 x8pin, your can be overclocked this requires more power and the extra 6pin connection.
ok i have a questain ,,my gpu has 1 8pin connector witch i have pluged in .. but there is a 6 pin connector on my mother board for pci should that be powered as well?? rite now i dont have it pluged in i have a msi z390a mother board and a geforce 2070 gpu every thing is working but im not sure if that pci 6 pin should be hooked up as well
that 6pin provides stable power to the PCIe slots on the board. If you are getting any crashes while playing or unstable FPS. You should try to plug it in. Typically you would do that is are going to SLI or populate all the PCIe slots with cards. Hope this info helps.
Hello plz i need help i have a VX PLUS 600w not modular with a (6+2)x2 gpu connector can i run a rtx 3080 knowing that 3080 is (6+2)x3 on it if yes how? Thank you
I use a lot of AEROCOOL Products, especially the LUX 550Watts. Aerocool plays it safe by not providing excess PCIe connectors so normally you can not overload the PSU. Your 600Watts PSU actually provides only 552Watts on the 12V. I am going to assume that the Processor, Motherboard, and other components might use at least 120Watts at peak usage. Which means you are left with 432Watts for the GPU. And 3080 can pull up to 320Watts or more. This means you are coming a lot close to more than 90% of the maximum power available. Aerocool claims your model is entry-level, so even if you manage to get the 3rd (6+2) by using Molex or Sata convertors, I suggest you don't do that. If you do this, there is a small chance you might not have any issue, but there is a big chance you might blow up the PSU and cause damage to your PC. Nvidia recommends a decent 750watts PSU. I suggest you get something in 750 or 800Watts.
Question here! My PSU have 8 pin for mother board and M/B X570 have 12 pin i am using 8 pin only . Working fine or am i missing somthing ? Plz reply will be appreciated! Or a video on it .
The extra 4 pin is provided to ensure the motherboard gets stable power under any possible scenario. For example if you are going for extreme overclock and have all the pcie slots plugged in with cards, the board might struggle for power. So if this extra 4 pin is plugged it, it will serve as a buffer. If you don't plug in and it is working fine.. then you can go about your business without worrying. Good luck
Hi, I was hoping if someone could help me. I have a 8 and 6+2 pin cable extender question that I had recently bought. I have a 1070 Ti video card that has an 8 pin with a 6 pin port. However because of the tight fit of the mini-ITX case, the door is unable to shut because the connectors (the one that came with the PSU) are way to stiff for the door to shut. They stick out preventing the door from closing. And so I'm using the 8 pin and 6 pin extender which are very very flexible. The door closes and the build is finished. However I do have one major concern, since one of the 1070 Ti has a 6 pin port, is it safe to plug the PSU Y-Splitter 8 pin cord directly into the cable extender (8 pin port) THEN connect the other side *which is a 6+2 pin connector, of which I am only using 6 pins* into the 1070 port? Or do I need to REMOVE the 2 pins connecting from the PSU cord that goes into the extender which matches the 6 pin port that is on the 1070? Thanks for any help.
For my 3080, it has 3x8 pin connection. Should I use 3 separate PCIe 6+2 cables from my PSU? This thing truly is a behemoth. Including the PCIe lane on the motherboard if I’m not miscalculating this thing is wired for potentially 425 watts? Also, great video. Informative, no stupid fluff. Need more videos like yours.
There are rtx 3080 models with 2 x 8pin connectors, and they are fine too. The 3 pin on your card is to give that headroom and reduce the load on the cables. So ideally, you should be using 3 x 8 pin cables if your psu supports it. That's what you paid for, so make the best out of it. Have a lot of informative videos coming out soon. Thanks for your feedback.
@@2FarTech Well it wont even fire up with two cables, a red light lights up where the cable should be plugged in and the GPU isn’t detected in windows. But my question was about the cables themselves, should I use 3 separate PCIe cables from the PSU, 6+2, because that’s all I’ve got available to me. So, 3 different cables plugged into the PSU, going to my graphics card, from the PCIe/peripheral section for clarification.
@@Docosi I understood your question. But my answer was not clear enough. I was not asking to plug in 2 cables only. I was saying the power draw of this card can be handled by 2 cables in most cases. I was suggesting you use 3 separate cables instead of using the piggyback available on the cable. You will not see any performance differences or issues. It's generally the best practice and the lower load on the cables means less voltage drop on the cable. Use 3 separate cables if you have that capability on the PSU.
@@2FarTech How can I connect it if I don't have 3 cables from Psu? I have exactly the same 2 6+2 pin cables like in the video and I need 3 x 8 pin for the card?!
Use the piggyback from the second cable to connect the third pin. I assume you have piggyback on each main cable. Most new psu pcie cable comes with 2 x (6+2) power wire.
i have igame rtx 3060 which requires 2x 8pin connector. my cooler master 750watt psu have 2 6+2pin connetor from 1 wire.. also it has same extra 2x 6+2pin connetor wire coming from psu... do i need to plug 2 different 8pin wires or only 1 wire which has 2x8pin?
RTX 3060 basically requires just one 8 pin. You model might be the triple fan model with overclocking headroom, that's why it is asking for 2 x 8pin. Now the answer. You can use the 1 wire with 2 6+2 pin and it will work fine. But the best practice for long term benefit would be to use 8pin from 2 separate wires. In this way the load is balanced, the wires don't get stressed out and the pin connecting in the PSU also doesn't have and extra load. The only issue here is cable management. You need to wire them up properly. More wires, more trouble.
Hi I just got GTX 750 and it has 6 pin but my power supply already plugin to the motherboard with 8 pin. And when I plugged it in. It won't work I guess I need a adapter for the gpu power supply 6 pin connector?
Black screen definitely points towards graphics card Power issue. But it could also be something else. You have to eliminate all the possibilities. The first step would be to add the required power to the card. This is what any expert would say.
the 8 pin cables are actually 6pin + 2 pin. inspect the cables closely and you will see the 2 pin can be detached from the 8pin effectively making it 6 pin connector.
To get better gaming performance? NO. FOR GPU mining or video rendering? YES Some older gpus support SLI (nvidia) or crossfire (AMD). Nvidia has Already officially stopped supporting SLI and you need an SLI bridge to link both the GPUs together. Few years ago i used to have two GTX Titan on SLI and it was okay most of the time. But these days SLI isn't the thing anymore. So you gotta research about your specific card and see if you can run them in SLI or crossfire for a decent improvement in fps.
I need help, i have an aorus 6900xt master that has a triple 8 pin connector, can i use the 3 6+2 pin connector? Is it enough to power the gpu with 75watts from the mobo and 75x3 from the 6+2 pins?
What about daisy chained cables? I have my 2070Super plugged in with a daisy chained cable, since the card has an 8pin and a 6pin, and the card according to NVidia requeres 215w, which is exactly what the PCIe + the PSU cable is providing I guess. But I don't know if I'm putting my GPU at risk for doing this or if I should definately plug in a separate cable for the 6pin.
The PSU will have a label or at least on the website. It will say how much power is available on the 12V rail. So if you are getting close to 90% of that number and you are using a cheap PSU, Then I would warn you. But if are using something like a Corsair or premium branded PSU. You should be okay. The PCIe motherboard draw varies from card to card. I understand the term daisy chaining, but in your case, I don't know what is your primary endpoint. Have used a SATA or Molex converter? Or used 1 x 6 pin PCI-E power and used splitters to make it 1 x 8 and 1 x 6? That would not be a great idea as the wires cant handle that much power. If you are confident enough, Try running MSI Kombustor and do a burn-in test on the card which will push it to full load. Check the connector's wires and points to see if they are heating up. Listen to PSU fan to see if it's getting cranked up to the max. Touch and feel if PSU is getting HOT, plus the air coming from the PSU is very hot? These are indicators that there is too much load on these components and it isn't safe. I wouldn't run a stress test for more than 3 minutes in your case to be on the safe side. Also, don't run a CPU stress test at the same time as it will max out the power usage and blow the PSU if the power limit is crossed.
I have a gtx 970 g1 gaming that needs a 6-pin cable plus an 8-pin cable. I'm looking at power supplies to buy, and they all have the 6+2 cable. Can I use one of 6+2 and another of 6+2 leaving the 2 disconnected? Sorry, i don't speak english
I still have some confusion. I upgraded to a 3070ti which requires the 3 8 pin connections. My PSU came with 2 PCI-E 8 pins (each is an 8 pin at the PSU end, and the other end is a Y cable to x2 sets of 6+2. So right now I'm using the first cable coming from PSU 1st connection to the GPU's 1 and 2. Then I use another identical cable in PSU 2 going to GPU 3 (and the other side of the Y cable Is just not used because.... well.. it's got nowhere to go). Is there an advantage to using 3 separate cables all going from my PSU to each of the 3 connections on the GPU? I have 5 available holes for PCI-E/CPU on my PSU and with this current method im only using 3 (2 for the GPU and 1 for the motherboard CPU power). I definitely have the holes available on the PSU but im having trouble finding the cable I want anywhere. Does no one just make a straight up 8 pin PCI-E cable without having a Y split on the other end? looks ugly and I just want to make sure I'm getting proper power to this GPU. Thanks!
I understand your confusion because I recently set up a few machines on RTX 3070Ti. I used high-end and cheap PSUs to achieve this task. After reading your action, I am sure, you did fine. So don't worry. If you can't find the extra cable the keep the setup as it is. If you can find the extra PCI cable then use it and only the 1 end of the Y to be connected. So you will have 3 wires from PSU going into the GPU. That makes wiring a bit more complicated and then you have 3 connectors not used, more ugly. The current way you have done is fine. It's the same way most would set up the PC. I hope you have a PSU with more than 750Watts Output. i7-11700K + RTX 3070ti hits 700Watts peak initially. But settled down in between 550 + 650Watts under stress in extended usage.
The other end of the cable comes from inside the PSU on a normal PSU. On an modular PSU, it will be clearly marked where to plug in the other end. Or are you asking where do you plug the Graphics card into the motherboard?
i have one that needs 2 8 pins but the psu has one 8 pin cord with a 2nd 8 pin coming off the first 8 pin is this the same thing or will this not work?
Got a GTX 1660, a basic 450Watts with a 6 or 8 pin in enough. Just to be on the safe side get a Deepcool or Aerocool or thermaltake 500watts or more PSU which will definitely have a 8pin connector. Good luck
i have a cable that has 12 pins on psu and the cable branches into 8 pin and a 6+2 daisy chain...is this enough to power 3070ti? edit my psu is xfx pro 1000w.
I got a question I have the following psu : corsair cv 650. My games keeps crashing after i changed my gpu to a rx5700xt wich requires 8+6pin power connection. My psu has 2 × 6+2 pin conectors coming from the same cable from the psu. I could not connect both of these 6+2 to the gpu because the end of the cables was to short. So i bought a splitter, which is connected to one of the 6+2 pins coming from the psu and the other end to the gpu giving me 6+8 pins wich the gpu requires. I dont know what causes me crashes. Could it be my psu? I tried updating my drivers, undervolting my gpu, set the clocks speeds to normal( recomemded ones), my temps are around 65-70 celsius. I hope someone could help me.
With AMD graphics card, this can be tricky. It seems like you did all the exercise to troubleshoot the issue. Your connection method is not very promising either. To eliminate issue rising from the psu and cable, I suggest you remove your motherboard, psu and gpu. Mount it on a table and check it outside the cpu case without the splitter. Run the game and see if it still crashes. We had similar issue with rx580 and latest drivers.
But the psu wire has 2x8 pin per cable right? In total you have 2 wires, however at the gpu end of the wire there is 2 x 8pin per wire. You can use two cables to get 3 x 8 pin and leave the 4th 8 pin empty or not connected to the gpu
Most decent modular psu provides 8pin on psu and 2 x 8pin on gpu side. I have also seen platinum psu with only 8 to 8 pin. However those came with 4 or more 8pin cable. Share the psu model number of you need further assistance
Thanks. I was surprised when i opened my new rtx 3060 to see it had 2 8 pin connections! But i guess it just needs more power than my old 950. Im glad I updated my psu first.
After I connected my 1080 6gb to my 80s-450w power supply I turn on my pc and the message to my pc says “Please power down and connect the PCI-E cables to my graphics card” what do I do?
Did you connect the Power cables to the card like the way I did? Does your 450W PSU come with PCI power connectors? And GTX 1080 is a 8GB Card, unless you are having a GTX 1060 which is a 6GB card. If you connected the power cable like i have shown in the video and still there message pops up, i suggest you try a different PSU.
@@2FarTech I sure did I had to rewatch it 20 times😂, do you perhaps know any good websites that sells PSU? I’ve also noticed my pc has been Turing it self off with my blue screen what so ever

If you have something like a gtx 1650, it might be okay. But cards that draw a lot more power will damage the smps and even the cables. It's not advisable. Psu is very cheap these days, don't risk it. Get a deepcool 450 watts psu, it will do the job
I don't know how you managed to break the connector. I assume the connector on the card is damaged. Yes it can be repaired or fixed. Depending on the amount of damage you might want to check with gigabyte directly. A proper electronic shop will be required to replace the power connector if you manage to somehow find the connector yourself. Desoldering and soldering is required. Since this is a non moving part, is there a way to fix it without repairing it.
GTX 780 at 2.29. I just got this recently and was wondering if I should go the route of buying a molex connector for the other 8 pin card slot as my ATX Switching PSU 700w only has the 6 pin connector that was previously in my GTX 660.
Typically a 700Watts PSU will have 2 x pin Pcie connectors. Most decent brands do have. Even the old ones. So please look again at all the wires coming out of your psu. If its modular then definitely the cable is not plugged in. GTX 780 is a power hungry card that can easily blow up low grade PSU. You can connect from 2 Molex to 1 x 6 pin PCIe is there is no other way. But atleast the first 8 pin must be connected to the PSU Pcie power.
@@2FarTech Hi thanks for getting back to me. I have just checked again and it deffinitley only has 1 x 6 pin Pcie connector while the rest is sata ends thats left. On closer inspection the PSU says Pentium 4 Model-E 700BR on the side so it could be really older model as its in an Emachines PC. Might have to invest in new PSU to be safe.
Not quite. If you have a modular power supply where should the other end be plugged into? The PCIe port or VGA port? I've tried pugging it into the PCIe port on the power supply and my 980 TI hasn't powered up....
Sorry I couldnt actually understand what you are implying. I am using a non-modular PSU. So the other end of the wire i am holding is connected to the PSU. Is there a VGA port on PSU? Yes it should be saying PCIe on the modular PSU. And GTX 980ti definitely requires 2 x 8 pin power connections right? Did you plug in both?
@@2FarTech On two separate modular power supplies the other end was plugged into either the PCIe port on one supply (each time using one or two cables) or directly out of the main power supply socket on the other. Neither solution worked. All sets of cables were fine. 980Ti uses 6+2 pins and a 6 pin.
My motherboard is A320M Pro , and it has 4 pin cable, So can i connect a 6 pic graphics card with that? Because the shop owner told me you will face voltage problems.
First of all, the motherboard would not have a power cable. The cable must be coming from the power supply unit (psu). The 4 pin connector from the psu is for the motherboard, cpu power. You need that for the motherboard to work. If you have extra 4 pin connector you can try to use it to power the gpu, but that's a bad idea. The reason why your psu doesn't have a 6 pin in because it can't handle that load. If you put that extra load through another source you could damage the psu, motherboard and graphics card. For a basic graphics card you only need a 500 watts psu.
4 pin motherboard cable is typically the CPU power connector. It's used for CPU power. If you disconnect the cpu power then the whole cpu won't work. The 4 pin on the cpu power cable is 12V and ground which is the same power used by GPU 6 pin. Its better to use mole to 6 pin converter cable instead
In my motherboard, their are two pci-e connectors one is 6+2 and another is 8, and in my gigabyte gpu, a white led blinks for a second when turning on the pc and then it goes off, and the 8pin power connector is powering my gpu, should I try the 6+2, or go to the nearest service center? I have a Rtx 3060 ti by the way
can you tell me whats the model of your PSU? So I can find out what are actually provided with it. Are you sure the 8 pin, isnt the CPU power connector? I suggest you remove the GPU and just try to start the PC with the motherboard. and processor. If your motherboard has LED indicator or You have small sound buzzer on the board, you can do a bit of troubleshooting too tell me what you see or hear.
I bought my first graphics card which requires a 8 pin. I have a 6 pin connector. Do I have to buy and replace the 6 pin with an 8 pin? And if so, how do I do that?
I can give you a precise answer if you can tell me the exact model information of the graphics card and the model details of the PSU on your PC. Would you be able to find that information?
i wanna take the time to thank you, you were the ony one to show me how to do this. i have that wire and didnt know i could use it, i bought 3 cables and still couldnt use it. so thank you for showing me that was the connecter
Is the psu provides 2 separate wires with 8pin. I would use both wires. So even under full load there is no drop in voltage and under load the cables doesn't heat-up and increase the internal resistance.
The idea is the same, bring three separate cables if your PSU supports them. 3 x 8 pin model GPUs require at least 2 cables + Y or 3 separate cables to make sure you are on the safe side.
Any corsair model which has atleast 750watts power and 80+ Gold rated. Other brands like EVGA, Seasonic, Thermaltake toughpower series, nzxt c750 etc...
Mostly it wont work. The GPU wouldnt get enough power and it would turn on. There are some boards that might work but then its not recommended either. Any PSU that requires a more than 6pin pcie will definitely not work.
Your question made me believe that you had a card with pcie power connection requirements. In the video i think i am showing a gtx 1050ti which doesn't require a pcie connection. You would know that if there is no place to connect extra cables on the graphics card. So don't worry. Enjoy
Some power supplies have a split pcie cables like the Cosair RX1000. To power a 3090, should you use 2 split cables for the 3 8pins or 1 split for each 8 pin?
24pin motherboard cable, 4 or 8 pin CPU Power cable, then graphics card cable. These are the main ones needed to run the system. If any one of them isnt proper, your system might not even turn on. Ensure the graphics card has proper Pcie power connection, not some sata or Molex to pcie covertor cable. It could also be slow due to cpu heating up
6 pin to dual (6 pin and 8 pin) is a bad idea. 6 pin to dual 6 pin itself is a bad idea. If the only psu cable provided has only a single 6 pin, then the manufacturer of the psu really limited the power output. If you manage to power up the system. During gaming the system will randomly shutdown, that is if your psu didn't blow up. Please get a better psu for your safety
hey, i just got r9 270. mine has two - 6 pin pcie connector. my psu only have one 6+2 pin. can i use splitter for that? is it safe? or can i just power it with only one 6 pin cable?
Some 8pin cable might have a piggy tail 8 pin connector. If it's not there then the spms isn't power enough to support the extra power required by the gpu. However you can use molex connector to pcie 6 pin converter to get that extra 6 pin. Connect this molex to a power cable not used to ssd or hdd.
CPU instead of molex? Typical Low end PSU comes with either 1 x 4pin or 1 x 8pin which is required for the motherboard. You cant use this on a PCIE port as the plug orientation is different. I suggested Molex as you as PSU comes with atleast two main wires for Sata and Molex. You can move all the drives into a single cable and use one standalone cable with Molex or Sata to use the convertor. I suggested Molex as it can handle more power load. If you are getting a covertor cable, get a good quality one. If you do this an the PSU blows up, it means your PSU cant handle the load posed by the CPU and GPU together. If you want to avoid all this, you can hunt for a Deepcool PF500 PSU, which is cheap and run anything upto an RTX 3070 with i5 processor
Hey man I have a question tomorrow im gonna add a gpu to my pc but I don’t understand something and I still can’t find the answer when l put my gpu inside my pc where can I find the 8 pin power cable to plug it in my gpu pls answer me Like is it behind my pc or where is it
Sorry, we have been busy with the workshop and builds. My first question would be, what is the model, brand name and specification of your power supply on the PC. If you are going to say my PC is HP or DELL old machine, then I will say that you wont find that cable. If you will say its a corsair 650Watts PSU then i will say, open the case and trace the cable from the backside of the PSU. Since its been two days, i bet you already know the answer

Glad I could help! Enjoy the RTX 3060Ti. I couldnt get one when it was at standard prices.
so 3060Ti has 12 power pins ? my PSU has 8pin(6+2) x4 power connector. Is it good to go ?
But no FE.

Then there are 2 possibilities,
1. It shutdown later when psu overheats or blows up
2. It works for ever without any issue for the rest of its life.
I know everyone wants to have option 2, for that you have to experiment and the result might be costly if it blows up
Thanks for jumping right into how to do it, with no intro or endorsements, etc.

Ok thank you. As long as it does not damage the card or mobo I have to use it this way for a few weeks @@2FarTech
How do I connect my Aorus GeForce 3070ti master because it has 2 * 6 Pin and 1* 4 pin ? Can u help me please ?
Its has
2 x 8 pin
1 x 6 pin
Which means you need a psu with
4 x 8 pin (6+2)
You will use 3 connections from those 4 pins. What's your psu? Unless you have atleast a good branded 750watts psu, don't use the card. You can Also try to use the card with just 2 x pins connected and see if you get a display. Typically gtx 3070ti uses 2 x8pin, your can be overclocked this requires more power and the extra 6pin connection.

that 6pin provides stable power to the PCIe slots on the board.

Will the gpu get detected if you dont connect all Power cables
(3 8pin slots on a Rtx 3080)
Would there be any difference if i used an adapter to connect a 6pins output to 2 8pins connector to the gpu?
Good luck
Exactly
You can just proceed normally. You don't need to remove the 2pin to match the 6 pin on the graphics card. Don't worry
Apa bisa kabel power untuk cpu di pakai untuk vga.

You did mention this but i am experiencing black screening and the graphics card is the only answer
Black screen definitely points towards graphics card Power issue. But it could also be something else. You have to eliminate all the possibilities. The first step would be to add the required power to the card. This is what any expert would say.

What happens if I have a gtx 1070 ti and there is a 6 and a 8 pin but the connectors I have is all 8. Can I try to fit the 8 pin into the 6 pin slot
the 8 pin cables are actually 6pin + 2 pin. inspect the cables closely and you will see the 2 pin can be detached from the 8pin effectively making it 6 pin connector.
hi. i am using dell optiplex 9020 . it has 2 - 16x graphic slots. can i use 2 low level graphic cards at the same time. please inform me..
To get better gaming performance? NO. FOR GPU mining or video rendering? YES
Some older gpus support SLI (nvidia) or crossfire (AMD).
The three 6+2s are individual independent cables from the psu, or are they piggy tails?
Midel details of your psu
@@2FarTech hi, i don't have a psu yet, but i'm planning on getting the gigabyte ud1000gm, and i want to use individual 6+2 pins
Sorry, i don't speak english
sorry about the delayed reply. The answer is Yes, you can leave the 2 disconnected. In the video I am having one such GPU with 8pin + 6 Pin
But settled down in between 550 + 650Watts under stress in extended usage.
yea but where does it plug into the board or powersupply
The other end of the cable comes from inside the PSU on a normal PSU. On an modular PSU, it will be clearly marked where to plug in the other end. Or are you asking where do you plug the Graphics card into the motherboard?
i have one that needs 2 8 pins but the psu has one 8 pin cord with a 2nd 8 pin coming off the first 8 pin is this the same thing or will this not work?
It will work. But if you have a second separable cable on the psu, you can use that. If you don't have, don't worry. It's fine.

I have the following psu : corsair cv 650.
Hi, I have a GPU that required 3x8 connection, but my PSU only have 2x8 PCIe slot, how can I connect my GPU?
But the psu wire has 2x8 pin per cable right? In total you have 2 wires, however at the gpu end of the wire there is 2 x 8pin per wire. You can use two cables to get 3 x 8 pin and leave the 4th 8 pin empty or not connected to the gpu
@@2FarTech So do you mean I would need two 8Pin to 2x8Pin for my GPU?

If it says pentium 4, then it's hopelessly old. Go for a 650 watts thermaltake model.
@@2FarTech Will do! Thanks.
My motherboard is A320M Pro , and it has 4 pin cable,
So can i connect a 6 pic graphics card with that?
Because the shop owner told me you will face voltage problems.
First of all, the motherboard would not have a power cable. The cable must be coming from the power supply unit (psu). The 4 pin connector from the psu is for the motherboard, cpu power. You need that for the motherboard to work. If you have extra 4 pin connector you can try to use it to power the gpu, but that's a bad idea. The reason why your psu doesn't have a 6 pin in because it can't handle that load. If you put that extra load through another source you could damage the psu, motherboard and graphics card. For a basic graphics card you only need a 500 watts psu.
thank you so much for showing the different kinds! I bought a new graphics card and you helped out a lot. peace!
If I have 6 pins + 8 pins I have to have two cables. I can get any cables from my power supply, one is 8 pins and the other 6 pins. right?
I know the reply is late. The answer is yes.
@@2FarTech it is ok, thank you 👍
Can i put in the ground 2 pin cable from both sides?
How do you know in which slot you put vga 1 and in which vga 2
Can I use a 6 pin gpu with 4 pin motherboard with a special cable?
I am glad it helped. Good luck with your setup.
As I understand it, I need 2x8pin for rtx 3080, but need only one cord or two? I have Seasonic Focus 80 Plus Gold 650w
Is the psu provides 2 separate wires with 8pin. I would use both wires. So even under full load there is no drop in voltage and under load the cables doesn't heat-up and increase the internal resistance.
please make an update with triple 8 pin with individual custom cable (not the y)
The idea is the same, bring three separate cables if your PSU supports them. 3 x 8 pin model GPUs require at least 2 cables + Y or 3 separate cables to make sure you are on the safe side.
If i have only 1 8pin pcie slot on my Gpu but i have 2 pcie cords is it ok that i just leave 1 there?
Definitely. Leave it. Sorry i didn't see your msg earlier.
Sir plz suggest me best power supply for rtx 3070 8+8pin I am confused plz reply
Any corsair model which has atleast 750watts power and 80+ Gold rated. Other brands like EVGA, Seasonic, Thermaltake toughpower series, nzxt c750 etc...
@@2FarTech thx for your reply, & antec 750watt psu is best or not
very informative and detail. made my life easier. you just solve someone's problem. May God Bless you.
Thank you and may God bless you too
Do my GPU works if I not use pci-e on GPU?????
Mostly it wont work. The GPU wouldnt get enough power and it would turn on. There are some boards that might work but then its not recommended either. Any PSU that requires a more than 6pin pcie will definitely not work.
@@2FarTech but I use GTX 750 and it doesn't have any pci-e connector.....and some people said that some GPU needn't connect pci-e to gpu...
Your question made me believe that you had a card with pcie power connection requirements. In the video i think i am showing a gtx 1050ti which doesn't require a pcie connection. You would know that if there is no place to connect extra cables on the graphics card. So don't worry. Enjoy
@@2FarTech ohh.... thanks....
Where do u plug it in on the mother board?
Some power supplies have a split pcie cables like the Cosair RX1000. To power a 3090, should you use 2 split cables for the 3 8pins or 1 split for each 8 pin?
I would use 1 split cables for each 8 pin. That would be the most ideal way.
My power supply only has 14 pins and my graphics card has16 will this still work?
Thanks helpful video now i move forward with my build.
i have a question can 6+2 pin power supply plug on 6 pin gpu? like i dont use the 2 one just the 6 pin
Yes, Its totally okay. The +2 part would be left unconnected. Go ahead
@@2FarTech thanks mate!
can u make video how to connect gtx 660 power
Now I’m a bit slow but Is there another part of the Cable that goes anywhere else in my pc?
24pin motherboard cable, 4 or 8 pin CPU Power cable, then graphics card cable. These are the main ones needed to run the system. If any one of them isnt proper, your system might not even turn on. Ensure the graphics card has proper Pcie power connection, not some sata or Molex to pcie covertor cable. It could also be slow due to cpu heating up
great video. simple, direct and the different examples provided needed insight. thank you.
Thank you so much. This was very helpful and informative and concise!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello, am looking for 6 pin female power. To duel 6 pin male 8 pin male GPU
I need to pin all the pins if I have 8+6?
hey, i just got r9 270. mine has two - 6 pin pcie connector. my psu only have one 6+2 pin. can i use splitter for that? is it safe? or can i just power it with only one 6 pin cable?
what if my smps has only 8 pin while my gpu has 8+6. Is there any way to do it without changing my smps
@@2FarTech can i use cpu instead of molex...im thinking of using unused psu 450 watts that i have what do u suggest
@@2FarTech any suggestion on good converter cable. thnks by the way
Hey man I have a question tomorrow im gonna add a gpu to my pc but I don’t understand something and I still can’t find the answer when l put my gpu inside my pc where can I find the 8 pin power cable to plug it in my gpu pls answer me Like is it behind my pc or where is it
Sorry, we have been busy with the workshop and builds.
@@2FarTech I broke the pc and my gpu yesterday trying to put the gpu in and find the 8 pin cable
