Hi all, in this video we take a look at what iRating is, how it works and what you can do to increase it. I'm hoping this video helps some people out there who are not sure about what the difference between iRating and Safety rating is. 🏁 🏁

Great video. I'm still new to iRacing and it's been bugging me to lose iRating so often, while I mainly focus on driving clean. Now I know that "for now" I'll just ignore the iRating and just keep driving clean.

I only care about my irating enough so that I can race people faster than me. The best part of racing are the battles with other drivers, nothing is more boring than doing hotlaps in first place for 20 mins.

For Pro Sim Racer: 1) Do you have any of the math they use on event to calculate iRating? 2) Have you noticed people deliberately tanking their iRating so they can get into weaker fields and win? 3) Thanks for taking the time to put up some videos - helpful info in here 4) background music is distracting
1 ) Not sure on the math. I believe it's based on ELO ranking systems, along with what your iRating is, the SOF of the event and where you finish. 2 ) not aware of people tanking their irating for wins if they are good - not sure they value the win that highly in the grand scheme. If you end up in a lower split you are likely to get taken out by someone causing an accident and typically it's a lot easier to lose a lot of iRating than gain it - so it would be a painful experience to carry out. 3 ) No problem. 4 ) Noted - thanks for the feedback!
How do you know where your irating compares to other drivers in your split before starting a race?
It doesn't show you before - it only shows you after due to match making. You can get an overlay with kutu apps that shows you other drivers irating when in the race (I think the new iRacing beta UI also shows you as you connect).
So now that it will be split. Won't the whole marketcap be fucked?
ik theres no proof of this but i think the higher irating you are given a better setup etc. I race in a league where we have fixed setup and theres some tracks your full throttle the whole way around so then it should come down to who takes a better line but during qualifying theres some drivers that are .3 faster and they have the highest irating. one time i took one of there fastest lap and mine and compared it for hours trying to figure out how there so much faster but after all the comparing my line was identical or better and since were full throttle i have come to the conclusion that the higher irating you are the better setup and more power you have in the car it only makes sense. unless someone else has a better theory on how there that much faster when everything else is basically the same
No, they are simply faster, their inputs are most likely much smoother or they are using different steering wheel settings.
@@endernix84 I doubt being smoother makes you 2 tenths faster cause Ive turned off my ffb and the only movements I made was turning into the corner my wheel never moved it was a perfect lap and it was only 5 hundredths faster then my fastest lap. When I make a lap with no mistakes and barely any movement in the wheel its not that there smoother I couldn't of been any smoother no one could of been smoother then that lap.

@@endernix84 I know that and did that was right by the wall on exit I know how to race I just don't know where there getting the 2 tenths when I've tried everything
