I find it unacceptable for the Blazers to not trade their vets this deadline and then just sit them for the rest of the season. Simons and Rob deserve to go to a situation where they can compete. Grant is likely regressing because he's not in that situation right now.
Agreed. Ant, Grant, DA, etc are having off years and their trade value is likely to be less at the end of the season than now. Better to trade them mid season than post season IMO
If the team is “ Tanking” why still keep Simons, Duap, Walker,Williams, Grant or Ayton. The Baby Blazers will not be “Good” but will be exciting to watch. Also they will get their minutes and the team will still be in the lottery. Wake up JOE!
Lets send Ayton, Simons, Reath, Murray and Walker and a 1st Sacramento for Sabonis, Derozan, McDermott and Alex Len. Start Scoot, Sharpe, Deni, Sabonis, DC. Second unit. Banton, DeRozan, Camara, Grant and Williams.
Maybe 2 firsts. I’m day dreaming scoot bringing up the ball, Sharpe cutting to the hoop, Deni can dribble, pass and shoot the 3, Sabonis can rebound, pass and shoot the 3, DC with rim protection and rebounding. Just fun to imagine
Look, I have to make money doing this show and being stupid along the way is the most enjoyable way to get to the other side. Hahaha what the friendship, indeed
I love Mikes ad reads because he does an excellent job on them but you can tell it’s a necessarily evil for him(he hates having to do them). Making it fun is the best way to stay sane!
You are one of the only Blazers media shows that is willing to speak truth about the current state of the Blazers and I love you for it! I love you even more for not carrying water for Cronin because you have some immature grudge against a long-gone gm like someone else who straightened their hair recently. Best pass first PG in the biz!!!! “Diet, caffeine-free CJ McCollum” bahahaha, the mental rollercoaster known as Anferno
We're in year 4 since the rebuild started with the trade of cj. We have no real direction still. It's not unreasonable to expect this organization to have the talent to have a solid foundation. We have question marks. This whole season should have been focused on scoot, shea and clingon. We should be looking to draft that final peice instead we're wondering who our next leader is to even start a real rebuild.
Absolutely...we need to see the development of Scoot to continue, and we need to take it to the next level. Simons/Grant are great players but they are not part of this rebuild. Moreover they take valuable time away from the rebuild. Scoot Sharp Camera Deni DC need as much time together as we can going forward. You can see these guys already have some chemistry going with a high ceiling. Its time to make this jump and its overdue
It looks like the new CBA might have frozen the trade market on bigger contracts. I’d love to get a show on how to navigate that. Do we need to dump Grant for 2nd round picks? Do we need to let DA walk in free agency? What are the best strategies to navigate the new NBA reality?
That’s just an excuse for Cronin that certain media member whose name rhymes with Fanny, has been attempting to drive down their throat. Most knowledgeable fans could see this years ago
the Blazers GM doesn't need to make any moves. Other then a small tweak if the Blazers land an expensive rookie. Cronin is the man, high-five for a financially successful sports endeavor.
I'd rather have DC return on the slower end. Playable and healthy are two different things. Big guy hopefully has a long career ahead. There's plenty he can still learn off of the court.
I’m still uncertain that Scoot and Shae are the cornerstones of the next great Blazers team. I just don’t currently see that as their ceiling. Solid role players but not the star(s) to build a contender around, although I would be delighted if they eventually proved me wrong
Just last week everyone was saying Scoot was a bust and now we're saying we have to commit to Scoot... Despite the 39 points and 8/10 from 3, you could see him second guessing himself. I'd like to see him get the reps in and see if he can figure it out. I'm not sure I'm ready to trade Ant to make a pathway for Scoot, because I feel like his ceiling at this point is below Ant's floor.
Not "everyone". A lot of us have been calling to trade Ant and lean into Scoots development since last trade deadline. Nothing I saw against the Nets made me suddenly come to this realization. Cronin is one of the worst GMs in the league at long term planning. Hence his refusal to even listen to trade offers from Grant until this last off-season (if you want to call it that. Marang on his own comment section of his podcast is now claiming that the Lakers and Blazers never seriously engaged in trade talks for Grant, despite reporting multiple times everywhere the exact opposite earlier in the season).
Let's be clear. The plan should have always been to commit to Scoot. The best games of his career thus far have come when his coaches actually commit to him. His ceiling is still all-star level. I'm sorry but Anfernee will never be an all star. He will always be a putrid defender. No matter how quickly he can catch fire, he has consistently been in this pattern of shooting us out of games more often than he shoots us into them. Anfernee is already 26 and he's not good enough to build a team around. If we want to stop being stuck in the middle, we have to commit to the young guys and that means trading Anfernee
I 💯 agree with the floor and ceiling comment. Scoot played a helluva game. That was one bright spot in a vastly dark career thus far. I also agree with playing the best person at the time. He gets the opportunity to show and most times he doesn't play well.
It’s pretty hard to argue Cronin has a clear plan unless that plan is to make trades that either don’t favor the Blazers, or not making trades that could have helped if he attempted to make them years ago
Can you stop hedging your bets Mike? simons is not a better basketball player than year 2 Scoot. He simply isn't. Passing? No. Playmaking? No. Defense? No. Cohesion? No. BBIQ? No. Shooting......sure, maybe.
You are 100% correct, Blazers have waited way too long to make necessary trades. Scoot should have been given the keys at the start of the season.
Scoot Sharp Camera Deni DC
If the ball moves it can work
or Williams...I think that Williams is our best center currently...
@Port_N-B-Ball He is for shure. the only one who can get out of the paint on D... yet he is never healthy

The new career high 1/14/24 39 points. 🎉
Management and ownership hasn’t changed!!! Still an embarrassment
Dear Blazer president. They learned by playing. Not by watching others play in their place. You got them on a slow road.😢
those high contracts like DA, JG, only make things complicated
CHOOSE! A! PATH!
One game is just that one game. Let's see a month of high level play.
it doesn't matter how talented the players are if they are not playing as a team, Portland has a lot of talent, but they don't play team basketball
Not so ironically, the 3 biggest culprits that don’t play team basketball are the veterans we shouldn’t have kept…Ayton, Ant, Grant.
They need to throw more to Clingan. Some of the players are so selfish. Trade them.

It’s too either too early or too late to fully commit the franchise to Scoot.
