REmake 2 changes but it’s still reserves more of the original and expanded upon mr.x. But in general I think REmake 3 changes a lot more and failed as a expansive map bc it closed off many areas; nemesis is no longer a true stalker and is more often than not and is more often than not regulated to boss fights and scripted events. And cut cut content and Changed things unnecessarily. I just think remake 3 does more wrong than 2 so 2 gets praised and 3 is criticized

I miss console price drops. Getting a ps2 slim for 99 bucks was amazing. Also the Greatest hits/Players choice stuff. Reprints of popular games for 20 dollars instead of 50 or 60. It made gaming affordable and in turn made it go mainstream. If Nintendo does the Player's Choice label again and drops the price they would DOMINATE the industry. Imagine Breath of the Wild. 20 bucks.
Completely 100% agree with two things: A. Physical copies of games are ALWAYS best! Each time someone asks me "Why don't you get an emulated form of the game?" my reply is always just that. Physical > Emulated B. Spot freaking on with games that absolutely DESERVE Remakes: Legend of the Dragoon, Parasite Eve, and, of course, Super Metroid. You mentioned Valkyrie Profile, but it did get a Remake, in the form of "Lenneth," however, I understood what you meant and do also agree that it does need one for the current consoles.
I feel like the only reason why TLOU is getting remade is because Neil wants to properly ruin the first game. He did so only partially trough retcons in part 2. But now he has a chance to bury this franchise completely and he sure as hell is not gonna waste it. Why make part 2 rise up to part 1's level when you can bring part 1 down to part 2's level. I'm so not looking forward to it.

Major ones are Joel being completely careless (and Tommy to an extent) as well as Ellie being completely oblivious as to what happened in the hospital. Joel's actions in the hospital are demonized as if what he did was 100% wrong, when it's not nearly as clear cut as TLOU2 would want you to believe. Neil wanted to tell the story involving Joel and Ellie, but rather than making it in a way that makes sense with who they are, he wanted a very specific story which wouldn't work with TLOU1's Joel and Ellie so he dumbed them down to make everything line up. That's why people complain about i. It's not that it isn't 1 to 1 with the first game but because the way those characters are written feel like an interpretation of someone who just watched the first game's story on yt. It's so far off the rails it almost comes full circle and makes perfect sense. In TLOU1 characters were pushing the narrative and it wasn't patronizing, the game was presenting events and you make out of them what you will, while in TLOU2 narrative is constantly pushing the characters and it desperately tries to make you like and dislike a specific characters by literally telling you "what character x did was good", "character y is a meanie". And that beside the fact it's one of the worst structured story in the history of media. I've never seen a story with no midpoint and 2 epilogues.

So what if some people wanted Joel's actions to be viewed as heroic? Others wanted those actions to be demonized and bringing either side is pointless, because neither one is correct. It has 2 epilogues, first after the Abby's segment when it would be a good place to close it out, but for whatever reason the game goes on for another 3 hours before the second epilogue. If Ellie didn't suspect that Joel was lying to her, then why she confronted him in the epilogue of the first game? The point of that scene was clear - to showcase that Ellie isn't stupid and can put two and two together, so when she wakes up in a car with hospital clothes, something's not right. When she makes Joel swear that his story is true, the look in her eyes and the way she responds indicates that she knows that's not really what happened. But TLOU2 tries to convince you that Ellie was completely unaware of anything. And then to top it all off when they confront outside of the hospital, Joel doesn't even try to defend himself or say anything why he did what he did. Why? Because the entire story hinges on this. Sure it's not 0/10 like some people claim, but again, you're ignoring the opposite side and those who praised it to high heavens. Anyone who gave it anything above 7 is extremely dishonest. The game with this many problems simply cannot get away with 9 or 10. If someone tried to tell you something stupid, how about you just... don't listen to them? Internet overblows thing all the time, it's not exclusive to TLOU2. Ellie's problem isn't all about being gay, in fact she lacks development, being gun hoe hellbent on avenging Joel untill the very end of the game when she suddenly decides to stop with no in between. Maybe it's just me who ignored the leaks and any info or opinions about the game and looked at it for what it is. People opinions and takes made me change how i viewed certain elements afterwards, but it didn't change how i viewed this game the game as a whole. I still didn't liked it one bit. Putting aside how he found that information there's no continuity. Back in Seattle they all agreed to abandon the revenge for the sake of Dina. But now Tommy is frenzied and wants revenge more than anything, Ellie feels desire for revenge again and decides to go for another revenge quest. So effectively the game jumpstarts a new plot of hunting Abby in Santa Barbara, which concludes with a second epilogue. Having identity crisis is completely different from making yourself a member of opposite gender. The reason why it doesn't make sense is because it's completely impractical in this enviroment. Like it or not, but if Covid wiped out majority of world's population we would have to take utilitarian approach, rise to the occasion and resolve any identity crisis asap. Some people may be unhappy, but surival is more important than personal preference. Which is why, while i like Lev as a character, she isn't believable at all. Ellie knew that Joel was lying in the epilogue of TLOU, while in the flashbacks you mentioned she's completely oblivious that anything is up untill suddenly she decides to visit the hospital. Ellie is much dumber in TLOU2 despite being older. "You didn't saved my life, you ruined my death" logic she used in the last flashback was absolutely astounding and i couldn't believe what i'm hearing. Again, dumbing her down just to create conflict and drama.

And being a teenager is not an excuse for her being dumber as 19 than when she was 14-15. She didn't grew up with family, she didn't attend the school and spend half the day on twitter, she grew up in harsh enviroment and basically had to mature way past what a lot of people today are in their 20s and first game reflected that. Also the issue with this conflict with Joel is that it feels artificial. Ellie and the whole TLOU2 presents Joel's actions in purely negative light. Neil tried to create a bridge between them in order to generate drama. And it failed, because TLOU1 Ellie would understand Joel's actions. I'm not saying she would agree with what he did or wouldn't hate him to some extent, but she would understand. She knows how much he went trough. She knows that he lost Sara and that he wouldn't let her die. She would know that he did it for her, even if she doesn't like it.

I didn’t sit in for the whole podcast episode. When did they start talking about Nolan North? It’s so weird how many awards _The Last of Us: Part 2_ got, despite so many people hating it. I don’t hate the game, but it’s unfortunate how the game ended up. 2:37:39 I totally agree. A lot of the relationships in the second game feel so… shallow. I’m not saying the game should’ve done this, but imagine if we got to play as other characters in Abby’s cast before we got to play as her (like Lev and Owen). Think of it as them being the appetizer and Abby being the main course. That might’ve made the game more messy and bloated, but they seem like the most likable characters and playing as them first might help inform us on Abby’s actions through yet another perspective, so the player can become more comfortable playing as her instead of the player constantly finding ways to commit suicide during gameplay just to kill Abby for what she did. We get to learn more about her, so when we finally start controlling her, she doesn’t seem as bad as we originally thought she was. I don’t know. I feel like a game all about perspective could have more of that, but again, that might be a bad idea. Just something I thought about. If I could take anything from this episode, it would be to not waste the player’s time with cutscenes that are too long. Or I guess, just in general. Good rule of thumb. 👍

you know what's kinda funny? at the time of this comment, this video was posted 4 hours ago. and about an hour ago, the PlayStation twitter released a tweet saying "Players will be able to continue to purchase game on ps3 and ps vita" with a link to an article. They basically repealed there decision to turn off the store. so some of the things your talking about are out dated. granted, not your fault, but still, i find it funny.

It’s so weird how many awards _The Last of Us: Part 2_ got, despite so many people hating it. I don’t hate the game, but it’s unfortunate how the game ended up.
2:37:39 I totally agree. A lot of the relationships in the second game feel so… shallow.
I’m not saying the game should’ve done this, but imagine if we got to play as other characters in Abby’s cast before we got to play as her (like Lev and Owen). Think of it as them being the appetizer and Abby being the main course. That might’ve made the game more messy and bloated, but they seem like the most likable characters and playing as them first might help inform us on Abby’s actions through yet another perspective, so the player can become more comfortable playing as her instead of the player constantly finding ways to commit suicide during gameplay just to kill Abby for what she did. We get to learn more about her, so when we finally start controlling her, she doesn’t seem as bad as we originally thought she was. I don’t know. I feel like a game all about perspective could have more of that, but again, that might be a bad idea. Just something I thought about.
If I could take anything from this episode, it would be to not waste the player’s time with cutscenes that are too long. Or I guess, just in general. Good rule of thumb. 👍
