After falling in love with Joey like so many of us have, it's wonderful to see the otters in their natural environment. Vancouver is doing a phenomenal job with Joey, yet just thinking that he'll never get to continue experiencing this is a little sad. Instead of sleeping on his mom's belly, Joey sleeps in a crib or on a mat on a concrete floor.
Beautiful, beautiful mama otters taking care of their babies. They have a rough life in the seas. Storms, boats run over them, they get caught in fishermen nets, starve, get eaten by sharks, get ill, on and on. Have around 8 years life in the wild. My heart goes out to the sweet sea otters, wish they could be helped in the wild, away from all the dangers, but how? They're becoming endangered, because they ARE in danger. Thank you to all who help them. And thank you for this amazing video, beautifully shot.
I'm not addicted. I just love watching every vid about them especially sea otter pups and I think about them when I'm not watching the vids. I'm not addicted! ; )
Wow. Newborn sea otter pups are huge compared to newborn river otters. Newborn river otters weight from 99 to 120 grams, when sea otter newborns can weight more than two kg. That's amazing difference. That's also probably why sea otter pups develop so much faster than their freshwater counterparts. River otters reach independence at 12 months, sea otters at 6 months old.
I AM SO JEALOUS OF THE WOMEN WHO GETS TO VIDEO THESES CUTIES!! YOU ARE SOOOO LUCKY!! I ALSO LOVE THE FACT SHE TOOK TIME TO POST AND SHARE HER AWESOME VIDEOS!!! THANK YOU!!!
Absolutely SPECTACULAR, GEORGOUS, & AMAZING! Looking at this post, I reflect on how VAST Gods CREATION really is! Thank you ALL so much for posting! Much love from Chicago, Illinois.
Awwww......so beautiful and cute ❤ the mothers are caring very good her fluffy sweeties. I love this to see! Thank you for sharing this beautiful video 👏 Love from germany 🙋♀️❤
This is one instance when being close to humans is helpful: protection from predators and calmer waters. As long as they stay away from boat propellers...
the babies actually have a special coat that makes it easier to float! they lose it around 12 weeks i think, so they can start practicing diving with their mum
baby otters have an incredibly dense coat, which is also why they float so well (their mums fluff it up so it keeps them buoyant) - between that and staying on their mums' bellies when they're not fetching food, they stay pretty warm
3 27 21 Hey Quantum Cat, I've read that papa isn't involved with the care. They mate & papa goes his own way. It's specific to otters. Hope that may help. v
God really doesn't get the credit he deserves. He created what you've you've just witnessed ☺. As you marvel at the cuteness of nature, think about its creator.
Californian otter moms: Take care of my floating ball of fluff and raise it to survive an ocean filled with sea lions, killer whales and sharks that will eat them. Californians: That is so cute and wonderful, the power of a strong mother. Also Californians(also, the rest of urban America): I need an abortion, my baby isn't convenient for me now, my future is more important then the little life in me, but I still love "fur babies". People, please, don't empathize with animals that act like humans when those same people act less like humans then the wild animals do. BTW. Pro choice, west coast(Seattle), scientifically minded, non-religious, common sense.
those little fluff balls are so innocent and precious. Otter moms are incredible.

So are squirrel moms.

The adults are cute enough but the babies can make the toughest guys melt!

Right. It's a little heartbreaking. 💔 😢
I think in a way it was a sacrifice from his mother. He's certainly a calming and loving presence in this time of fear and uncertainty.
I wish they could just keep Joey there forever
Itsoktobewhite .....Joey can’t be released back into the wild.
@@WyattRyeSway that makes me happy. It's not safe out there :(

Your welcome
@@Natural.Crusader , That time went by quickly. Stay safe. v
Thank you so much for sharing this joy!
We don't have sea otters in the Philippines (as far as I know) that's why when I stumbled upon Joey, there was never going back. 🥰
A BBC film about Sea otters said the otter Moms breath air into the pup's fur, to help keep the pup buoyant. Kind of cool.
This is amazing and funny and touching! Thank you so much from Germany.
Wow! Thank you for the uploads. Precious! :D

I wonder why the mum rolls around the water so much. It almost look compulsive.
They're so much bigger than i thought
It's part of their grooming routine :)
Me; Enjoying this as well. SOOOOOOOOO PRECIOUS!
Soooooooo fluffy
Otters are such Buoyant creatures, aren't they?
3 27 21 Yes! v
the babies actually have a special coat that makes it easier to float! they lose it around 12 weeks i think, so they can start practicing diving with their mum
Why do they rool in water?
3 27 21 I've read the rolling helps trap air in their fur. Hope that may help. v
ohh so cute.. love baby otter
don't baby otters get cold? i mean, they're still little and all.....
3 27 21 Hey Squid, I've read the baby otters are groomed by mummy frequently & the fur is very dense. Hope that may help. v
baby otters have an incredibly dense coat, which is also why they float so well (their mums fluff it up so it keeps them buoyant) - between that and staying on their mums' bellies when they're not fetching food, they stay pretty warm
I wish an otter could be President. :(
Thank you‼️😊
Joey?
Its like someone threw a stuff toy into the sea
