Grace Jones influenced a lot of women we see today...Rihanna...Gaga..Shakira...the list goes on. She was iconic when I was a teen back in the 80's and still today in 2010 we can see what a trail blazer she was. Hats off to the incomparable Ms. Jones.
I recognize the Kodak, Lee Cooper, La Poste, Orangina, Peugeot 205, Citroën CX2 (I owned one!), Bouillons Maggi commercials we had here in France. Aaah those good old days... sigh...
I was about 10 years old when my father got this tape for the VCR which was also very scarce then.I must have listened to this song like a 2000000 times. We do not own the video anymore so thank you evers so much for it!!!!
There is no other video like it. As original and iconic as its subject. Slave To The Rythm was and is groundbreaking and a feast for the eyes in visual excellence. Grace was at her peak in 1985 and will forever be remembered for this modern masterpiece! Timeless.
i was dancing to this at 17 in an enigmatic club called the starck club in dallas tx as i watched her perform the song. she is force like no other. amazing. i will never forget it. i simply cannot get enough of this video.
It is funny that I remember this music video very well from my childhood(I was 3 years old!). He fell for me in the memory like none other. This motive with car and then with the polka-dot skirt... pure magic!
what i like about electronic music, is that there is no more inside band musical fights anymore. mostly one guy sets the song, and thats it, so the music keeps on flowing without end. ever evolving, faster and better as rock
Best video ever. No doubt about it. Where the talent of this caliber today? I mean who is gonna watch one of today's videos 25 years from now? There's several versions of this on RUclips, totaling a million hits!!! And who can forget "Boomerang's" Strange?
The poster from this brilliant album cover is my apartment in all its huge framed glory. This album was actually from '85, not '87 (copyright is on the poster). But no dif. It was brilliant at the time and still timeless. Like all of her music after her late 70 disco days. This is one of the all time best videos and songs EVER. The few dislikes...petuey! They must be into Nicki Menaj....or whatever that Porky Pig sounding thing is. New colored wig....Thaaaaaatttt's Alllll Follllks!
Absolutely outrageously brilliant! Just to think that this was created a quarter of century ago... So bold, creative and innovative. A revolutionary video. Can never get enough of it.
Wow, I remember seeing this when i was like 5yrs old and some of the images i still remember to this day particularly when she is bobbing up and down in a mushroom dress. Amazing & weird video. Truly original.
I am begining to realise that all passion has been taken out of music and culture these days.Theres no soul left now in the west. Maybe there will be a renaissance. However this could well be the best music video ever made. Its excellent in every artistic way and full of passion and rebellion.
Brilliant song and one of the best videos EVER! Miss Grace Jones is a one and only original. Greta, this album came out in '85, not '87. I'm fortunate to have the cover in a poster form, framed in my crib. I treasure it. Peace to all and long live Miss Grace and let's hope she keeps recording. Her last release, Hurricane, was incredible!
This is one of the best videos ive seen in at least the last 15 years, and maybe ever, as i really cant think of one thats better, off the top of my head.
I have this album, but, today July 6, 2013, is the first time I've ever seen this video. I'm such a knucklelhead for missing it. I've never seen anything even close to the ingenuity, and genius of it. A few years back my sister's friend go her two tickets to the Hollywood Bowl to see Grace Jones. custom parking, the works. We got invited to go backstage, and my sister declined. I could have killed her. I was so mad. I don't know why she said no.
Grace Jones and this video used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid, lmbo! but I loved watching it bcuz I loved the music and found the contents of the video interesting. Never seen anything like it.
80's were only 30yrs from 50's and so many interesting innovative shit in music & fashion had happen. I did not see much interesting breakthrough shit since 1994 till now. Stuff just rotting away more & more.
there was a 45vynil with 6 or 7 mixes of the same song. poeple used to listen all versions all day long and get crazy. they were very different from each other and these days nobody remembers but this one version. i cant seem to find these special versions ever again. nor does anyone of u remember aswell
Truly a masterpiece! I absolutely love it's originality. I had this song playing in a recent party I hosted. Everyone loved it. By the way, 3:25 is my favorite part. I just feel like grabbing a sliver platter with h'orderves and spin around like that ughhh. I wish I was a teen in the 80's.
All hail the mighty stack-philly. I was always pumped when this got national play because of the background band kickin' old skool style blue eyed brotha from Oxon Hill ('85')
Grace rules forever. A true original and ahead of her time! But don't knock Gaga. Great voice, talent, composer, and can play piano. There is room for both awesome performers. Everyone is influenced by someone. Never saw Grace's videos - brilliant! Thanks for posting!!! Long live Grace!
I AGREE A 100% WITH THE COMMENT AS THIS BEING ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG AND VIDEO OF ALL TIME. MOST DEFINITELY THE CAR GETTING INTO THE HEAD'S EXTENDED MOUTH IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCENES.
Grace Jones influenced a lot of women we see today...Rihanna...Gaga..Shakira...the list goes on. She was iconic when I was a teen back in the 80's and still today in 2010 we can see what a trail blazer she was. Hats off to the incomparable Ms. Jones.

Onlly 💥👍💥 Yess
Bah, apprentices. Not even 1 song of all of them has the worth of 1 second in the life of Grace
I recognize the Kodak, Lee Cooper, La Poste, Orangina, Peugeot 205, Citroën CX2 (I owned one!), Bouillons Maggi commercials we had here in France. Aaah those good old days... sigh...

Jean-Paul Goude turned her into a work of Art! Fantastic!
Her former husband
A major reason why this is a fantastic song - Trevor Horn.
saw her on jubilee concert......forgot what a great song this is...and how great does she look at 62yrs old!
There is no other video like it. As original and iconic as its subject. Slave To The Rythm was and is groundbreaking and a feast for the eyes in visual excellence. Grace was at her peak in 1985 and will forever be remembered for this modern masterpiece! Timeless.

Simply the best Video in the History.....
This is a good piece of surrealist art in its own right.
Best video ever. No doubt about it. Where the talent of this caliber today? I mean who is gonna watch one of today's videos 25 years from now? There's several versions of this on RUclips, totaling a million hits!!! And who can forget "Boomerang's" Strange?

Truly a creative force she is no slave but the master of the rhythm and gloriously black and beautiful. .
Sure
When she performs his live she hula-hoops through the entire track. Incredible!
Ahead of her time Ms G. Jones, even in 1985!
Guy Petersen Yes...Art & Fashion & that beautiful black phisical statue of a Godess.
STILL THE BEST VIDEO OF THE 80S.
Visualy the greatest performence of it`s time.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, for this upload.
Absolutely outrageously brilliant!
Just to think that this was created a quarter of century ago... So bold, creative and innovative. A revolutionary video. Can never get enough of it.
I love it! Seeing these commercials we had here in France in the 80s reminds me of my childhood.
I remember watching this video on Friday Night Videos back in the day. Goodtimes, Good times.
Wow, I remember seeing this when i was like 5yrs old and some of the images i still remember to this day particularly when she is bobbing up and down in a mushroom dress. Amazing & weird video. Truly original.
You had to be there , France 85 was an experience I will always treasure .
I am begining to realise that all passion has been taken out of music and culture these days.Theres no soul left now in the west. Maybe there will be a renaissance. However this could well be the best music video ever made. Its excellent in every artistic way and full of passion and rebellion.
There's been MANY great ones, but...possibly THE greatest music video EVER!
Jones packed more iconic images into this clip than most of the pretenders of today do in their entire career!
THIS VIDEO IS A FOREVER IN VISUAL MUSICAL DEVELOPMENT!
Subjugating, eerie, hypnotizing, great sense
of humor and unbounded fantasy. Everything!!
This video set the bar, and no one has ever surpassed it.
it's been a while since i've been glued to the screen like that. a true artist!
omg i loveeeee her! she's so unique! her music, videos, look, she's a real fashion diva
This is definately a good example of audio art mixing with visual art.
Oh this WHOLE LP is so great!
Brilliant song and one of the best videos EVER! Miss Grace Jones is a one and only original. Greta, this album came out in '85, not '87. Jean Paul Goude, magician
brings back memories of childhood in the 80s.....I was always impressed with Grace Jones.....even at the age of 7....
Fantastic song. 1 of my all time favourites. No wonder Robbie Williams chose Trevor Horn to produce his new stuff
Memories of the crazy 80's which I lived through. So much creativity in film, music....
I have this album, but, today July 6, 2013, is the first time I've ever seen this video. I'm such a knucklelhead for missing it. 1:47 - 2:10 has to be the best scene cut and clip displaying an artist's personality, character, style and ultimate coolest before or since!
Before Lady Ga Ga was Grace Jones. An original for sure.
i just love this video. she turned disco music into electronic music.
One of my favorite tunes from the 80's. It has been a theme song for me ever since.
80's were only 30yrs from 50's and so many interesting innovative shit in music & fashion had happen. I did not see much interesting breakthrough shit since 1994 till now. Stuff just rotting away more & more.
Man,..everytime i hear the intro,...i get goosebumps allover,..this is by far my most fav track all times!
"and now ladies and gentlemen,..heeeeere's Grace"....!

The video, the whole nine yards. I lived it.
Wow...
One of the best songs of all time in my view....
one of the most intoxicating musical mind trips ever!!!!!
She is way, way ahead of her time ..... her creativity demands more than a cursory look and comment
@VikingNoah
Wow! So glad to read a comment from someone can see through all the corporate music treacle and appreciate a dynamic force like Grace.
there was a 45vynil with 6 or 7 mixes of the same song. poeple used to listen all versions all day long and get crazy. they were very different from each other and these days nobody remembers but this one version. i cant seem to find these special versions ever again. nor does anyone of u remember aswell

Sai cosa canta, oltre a essere schiava del ritmo?
A true DIVA!

All hail the mighty stack-philly. I was always pumped when this got national play because of the background band kickin' old skool style
blue eyed brotha from Oxon Hill ('85')
one of my favorites from grace
👌 🥁 and bass
aaah, the days when things made sense.
25 people can't Hula hoop for the entire length of this song. Whilst singing it, like Grace did at the Jubilee concert.
Grace Jones is another music goddess, the real music queen.
This is like Peter Gabriel's video to Sledgehammer, it's got some outside-the-box thinking and is totally surreal.
Slave to my own rhythm
I a big fan of Grace Jones! ❤ She's a Syracusan, like me!
"Mil conceitos"...magnífico!
Greatest Song and Album...one of the best of 80's...remeber Rio de Janeiro...great time...awesome. From Brazil.
One of my favorite songs and videos of all time.
