He impressed me when I was thinking about the play. I was like I don't know if this play is good but it's obvious and it works no way he doesn't do this. *2 seconds later* he does a move I couldn't even see because it's just so bad it's beyond human comprehension why someone would think to do that.

Hey guys just wanted to give a small shout out to a relatively small channel that has just started a gameplay of this game, Vanguard of Valor. VoV creates similar videos to ryan where they are non-edited gameplay commentaries, a huge plus though is his voice it had a really soothing tone to listen to. Reason that I am shouting him out is because of his 1 year hiatus from RUclips due to his house burning down. I really believe in his potential for commentary over narrative Esq games. I’ll give you a tip, try just listening to it in background. Otherwise, its literally a health hazard to watch these type of video whit out proper protection, and by protection I mean total absence of basic intelligence.
I was looking through games NL has played, and I realized "Hey! He played through Into 'The Breach'! Why have I never watched this series?" After only 3 episodes it all came back to me. His plays stressed me out so much I dropped the series and had to go play the game myself. The challenge for me now is to keep watching
It's not rage at watching someone play a video game. It's losing hope in humanity from watching someone who isn't dumb and can be smart be so stupid that it physically hurts.
Choobers Mcdougalls it's a new game- so we're all experiencing it for the first time. However, his misplays don't excuse that if he's actively making the worst possible decisions (ie: the entire terraformer mission) by ignoring mechanics the game tells him about... Scarabs lob artillery shots- its literally in their description menu! They don't hop... Likewise- its explained what the cataclysmic tiles do. The time pod can't be saved if you let the earthquakes get to it... The list goes on- but NL not picking up on/paying attention to the mechanics is the issue- not how new the game is...
Fair enough, but this is NL we're talking about. Expecting him to understand mechanics on the first go-around is like expecting a squid to host a reasonable, non-sexual discourse with Japanese schoolgirls.
RUclips is the cage. The commenters in conglomeration are the figurative Lion Trainer. The comments section is the whip. And Into the Breach is the Flaming Ring. It's training-eventually the lion will be so good he'll be doing all the cool stunts by himself, even the trainer just sits down in awe as part of the audience, at least that's the dream.

I actually like that he's fumbling his way through. There are plenty of other YTers who spent an episode on one move, making sure it's perfect. Boring, I'll do that on my own time

Ad revenue is based on time watched. That is why most youtubers have gone to 20 mins videos because it was the calculable amount where its short enough so the most people are going to watch the whole thing but long enough to avoid losing viewer retention to bad.
23:33 no need to kill the psion as the level was shrinking and would have killed it anyway. A better play would have been to punch the unit 2 tiles in front of it that way the psion dies and the scarab dies.
21:54 could have moved that spider webbing bastard with the artillery and give the final push with the tank to the water, not to mention you block one of them from spawning.
Towards the end of the video he gets to about mediocre levels of strategy, like there were no huge mistakes in the last mission he did. Especially since that time pod was guaranteed to be lost anyways.
you can end your turn on a time pod to pick it up, time pods are worth 3-5 stars worth of stuff including an objectively good reactor pod so it was a huge blunder
Johan Hoekstra I'd say missing the pod is a kind of big misplay. What he could have done first turn was move the melee mech to the pod, shoot the front scarab back one, then push the other scarab back. Melee only takes one damage instead of two, you still block the spawn, and get the pod.
Yeah but NL couldn't have known that the next turn the cataclysm would take out the time pod. He had only seen the first line and couldn't have known for a fact that the cataclysm would advance like that.
It was pretty obvious that that's what it was doing. It took out the first row, then broadcasted that it was going to advance to the second. I'm pretty sure it'd be safe to assume it'd move on to the third where the capsule was, meaning it's a priority to pick up the capsule in time which he could have done and still got a perfect. I remember when watching the video there was a productive turn which involved also picking up the capsule.
