You're a clear Huawei fanboy and rightfully so! I absolutely agree with you on the fact that innovation in smartphones slowed down way too much after the Huawei ban and it can be said that the innovative nature of Huawei was the reason they were banned because Apple and US were afraid being the 2nd best in terms of tech.
Sadly, one of the worst decisions by Donald Trump. I am wondering if he is going to ban another Chinese "threatening" brand this time. Xiaomi? Probably not, because it doesn't look too prevalent in USA. Lenovo? LoL.
I've seen the latest Huawei phones, e.g. the Pura 70, in HK and mainland China. Innovation is generations ahead over Samsung and Apple, and the prices are far cheaper than Samsung flagship. With Huawei banned from using Google services, the current big players Samsung and Apple are just lazy in innovation and enjoy monopolizing prices. Must also give thumbs up for Honor trying to fill the gap Huawei left, but most of the share is being filled by the BBK companies.
The common practice, the major brands ban this new brands that completely leaves them in the dust when it came to better value and innovation, just because these major brands just don't want to be innovative and like to have monopoly the easy way
Mate 20X was my dream phone that year: basically the 20 Pro with a smaller notch, a flat display almost an inch larger, the same cameras, and a 19% larger battery which was the longest lasting that year. I just got the P20 Pro because it was close enough in features and was what I could afford.
@@theinceptor3672 I would buy a trifold or a more durable "unfold n' roll" with that same 7.2-inch cover screen and 12.2-inch display when fully expanded. A keyboard/GPU dock like the Surface Book 2 would be an awesome pair -- maybe I could build myself one by reusing parts of an old Framework 13.5 & 16 😏
You're getting closer to 100k and you deserve it so much sir, I remember cool commercial in tv for this one at the time, but I couldn't afford it so I went with Poco F1 then... Seems like yesterday
My dad is not a tech guy, he bought a Huawei Mate 20X when it came out. Still going strong to this day, no complaints from my dad to this day. The software is a tank, it didn't crash even once in its 4/5 year run
At one point I was very close to purchasing a Huawei Mate 10 from AT&T, but Huawei ended up getting banned and AT&T had cancelled the announcement for the phone which bummed me out because it was a very compelling and high tech phone at the time that put Samsung and LG Android phones to shame.
I would absolutely have a Huawei phone. Even though it's harmony os. People should be buying them. It's an alternative from Android & iOS. HarmonyOS could be a great 3rd operating system.
I actually still have my Mate 20 Pro as a second phone to my S24 Ultra. And honestly, many times the photos from my old Mate look far better than Samsung
It's the best phone I've ever owned. In fact I owned 2 over 5 years. It does everything and has excellent cameras. Still miss it. One of the best smartphones ever made.
Dude, last night me and my friend were on a call talking about phones since he was looking for a new one, I wanted to check mate 20 pro just to see how its specs were and i was blown away, i was thinking "who was competition to this mf? Samsung and apple surely weren't". And now you drop this video, i cant believe my eyes, matrix.
I still have a Huawei Mate 20 X and amazingly it still holds up today 6 years later. It's perfectly usable and the battery life is still as good as day 1. Makes me really wonder about Apple and their questionable iPhone battery health percentages that drop even after just months of usage.
One of my all time favorites i have asking Ryan to cover this 🐐 Thanks Ryan. When this was launched the whole tech world were only taking about this Device. Good old times, When phones were so exiting.
I had this phone, when it came to upgrading it after having it for 4 years I struggled to know what to upgrade too, ended up giving it too much dad and just getting the Xiaomi X3 pro, had that for about 2 years and have now moved for an A series Samsung. I still miss the mate20 and my dad still uses it every day. I wish they never lost the Google services 😢
You can't really look to west for boundary breaking innovation these days because the market simply wants everyone to be the same. The only improvements you can expect is bigger brightness, higher prices and thinner bodies - which are among the things that are well celebrated there and things that get people excited. It's a different breed.
Watching this on my mate 20 pro in Australia, due to it not being able to update to EMUI 12 it wont be able to make calls anymore. Proper sad served me well for nearly 6 years 😥
There is a reason why even with an inferior chipset Huawei phones still outsold iPhone and Samsung recently in China. Too bad the rest of the world couldn't enjoy such amazing tech.
I didn't own the Pro, but I currently daily drives the vanilla version mainly because of 3.5mm audio jack and offline FM Radio support. Despite its age, the Kirin 980 SoC is still a solid performer. Even when using EMUI Desktop on a second screen, it's just as snappy.
I had this and I took some of the best photos ever with it. Now I use a proper full frame camera but I still look back at those photos and admire how a phone managed to get such results (with a bit of editing, of course)
The nano memory card sadly wasn't fully developed and just randomly stopped working after a year or so, I lost all videos and pictures of a certain time that way. And the new one I bought didn't even work for a week
It does make you wonder if Huawei would have had their own HTC moment in the sun if not for US/China trade relations. I remember they were just on fire for a period, not just in terms of spec, but also innovative and unique design from their Android skin through to their build quality.

I always say to people If you've ever had used a Huawei Matebook X [if that's what it was called], it was absolutely amazing. One of my mates flipped it out, and I was absolutely beholden by what I saw. Side by side with my 13' 2017 MacBook Pro, it looked and felt like a MacBook Air, but with far thinner bezels [thinner than mine as well], a really, really good display [comparable to mine], suprsinlgy good typing experience, as well as equally stunning build quality [it was an all-aluminiun chassis, just like MacBooks]. No wonder they'll gotta ban Chinese products. First ZTE, then Huawei, then Tencent, and now, the EV Companies.
i use a mate 20 pro, the only issue that i really had was the fact that the main bottom speaker was inside the charging port, meaning that anytime i was charging the phone, the sound was horribly distorted. otherwise it's a great phone, for it's time the volume and power buttons have stopped working now, but that's because of age, also the fingerprint sensor of a bit glitchy now, but that's probably because of software
If one intends to keep a phone for three or so years it is worth having a mid tier or slightly higher end phone. Personally around $350 is the sweet spot on a good offer. It would also be no disaster upgrading a year earlier if a good offer comes by. Above $500 I find pretty difficult to justify for myself. A phone is a tool for me and not a hobby like my computer or hifi is.
Believe it or not,i am watching this video on my main mate 10.i love this thing, the battery is still amasing and the cameras are good enough for me as well.

They didn't flex just spitted a bunch of facts and pushed others to do better. Huawei the innovator forced others to innovate. Great vid
Yah if only they didn’t have communist party controlling them
