Hi, Angie! Thanks for asking. Length can be adjusted to accommodate different sizes. 4 to 6 inches seemed to be a good range since elastic can stretch.
Thanks so much Rachel - this is just what I was looking for! Bought some masks that slipped with every word even before I wore them outside :( I needed a quick fix, and you have saved the day. Question though - how wide should the elastic be?
Few months ago , spring cleaning through clothes and I saved all the boys' underwear because of elastic waistbands but I gave it away before the Coronavirus hit.
@@RachelsDIY07 Hi Rachel. I see that you cut the elastic 5 inches. Is 5 inches used for kids ear saver also? I want to make some for my grandkids who are ages 7, 8, 10 and 13. I don't want to make the size to big.
Nice sharing dear ❤❤
Cute! This is great. I wear hearing aids and its very difficult to keep them on.

Thanks for your kind words. ☺️
For this one, I used about half an inch of elastic but I think 1 to 1 1/2 inches should be fine too.
@@RachelsDIY07 Thanks for the feedback - wasn't sure what to try and didn't want to waste money. Appreciate you!
@@RachelsDIY07 Forgot to ask you - where did you buy the colored elastic?
I've also tried using ribbons and strips of fabric from clothes I'm no longer using. Works fine too. ☺️
I bought it from a local craft store months ago. I believe fold over elastics are available in Amazon too.

U can make these with fabric strips too🤗
What about using ribbon instead of the elastic because I can't find any?
Hi, Jen! Yes, ribbon works well too. I've also tried using upcycled cloth from old clothes.
Bias tape, or make your own bias tape. I had a bunch of cotton clothes that I knew doggone well I was never gonna wear! Good cloth to make masks with
How well do the frayed edges hold up to multiple hot water washes?
Hello, mysskay. I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I normally just handwash mine at room temp.
Hi Rachel. What are the sizes for 3-6 and 7-12. Thanks
Hi, Ms Fabulous. I apologize but I couldn't seem to understand your question. May you please specify? Thank you.

I see. Thank you for the clarification. Elastics can still stretch, so I think 4 inches to 5 inches is a good range for kids.
