Adult Hae-sung in the movie hadn't let go of this memory of Nora. He constantly thought about her and eventually schedule a meet-up. At the end of the movie, he learns to let go because he realizes they weren't meant for each other. By letting go, he can move on with his life and be happy
@@notaspacecow I don't think he realized they weren't meant for each other as until the end he thinks it is already a Past Life and they are already together in the future. He accepted they can't be together in this life but no he didn't let go of the feelings.
The last two minutes of this movie alone should be nominated for best picture. Poetic cinema at its finest folks

the cinematography, story-line and the movie's color palette that got me hook into this film!
I love the opening the more I think about it. When we finally get to that seen from the main characters perspective, you can see the couple in the background that’s likely who was narrating the opening. But there’s no attention paid to them, they’re always out of focus. But they’re there. And you realize that life is full of others looking in on you and trying to tell from afar what these relationships actually are. And it’s such a nyc thing too! But really at some point we’re all just onlookers to someone else’s story-they’re the main character.
I used to do that with my friends I suppose that other people were looking at us at the same time. it's a good way to engage the audience right in the first shot of the film
I know... "another a24 fan" yes but.. this is SUCH a breeze of fresh air by A24 yet again. I am so happy this company exists to provide these movies and more to come. That's all I wanted to write here.

I watched the movie yesterday and I just realized something. When Nora was young, what attracted her the most to Hae Sung were his manly ways. However, when Nora is an adult and Arthur asks her if she finds Hae Sung attractive, she responds with, 'He's really masculine in a way that I think is very Korean' - indicating that she's no longer drawn to this type of beauty.
This could be the result of the environment she has been living in since she was 12, or perhaps not. On the other hand, Hae Sung has always been attracted to Nora's personality and ambition.
Loved the movie and the way it was shot. Want to see many more from the director!

One thing I learned from this movie is to never trust your feelings on any womans heart.
Because woman heart is flickering like glimps of broken light
and can betray your feeling in a heartbeat
Never build up a relationship with a girl for long. Because she cant control her feelings unlike men who are faithful and honest.
And advice for men : you have the upper hand to choose and love, marry whomever you desire unlike women are waiting for the right man to come.

Moral of the story? If they don't think it's important enough, you shouldn't either. A waste of your irreplaceable time. Nice flick though.
Ya nah.....she is still in love with the other dude, husband literally is the 3rd wheel the whole movie and the bar scene is just sad she had her back was turned towards the husband and always faced the other dude....like wtf....i know this movie got a lot of buzz but damn she is having a emotional affair with a dude that she hasn't seen or talked to since she was like 12....and the ending is just sadddddd....after the dude leaves she crys and she crys on her husband, he is her emotional buffer....and the husband just let her do whatever....no way in hell in would let my wife spend all this time with a different dude and at this point he wasn't even her friend anymore since they havent talked since she moved from korea...its just all wrong and the way they tried to make it emotional and lovey, yeah....pass

It was ok. 6/10. It was a tension-less movie about a relationship that could have been, and I ended up not caring for any of the characters.
