It's also in a beautiful part of the world, the Vale of Glamorgan and Ogmore Vale. In fact in the village where I lived about 10 km from the camp, there was a former POW luftwaffe pilot from that same camp who remained in the area. He got to know a local girl, married her and lived out his life in this little Welsh village on the coast. He was a lovely chap.

Marvin Cooper Much more difficult from an island. Allied escapees had overland access to neutral countries.

Can see these Germans must of heard of the allied Great Escape from Stalag Luft III. Also the 70 Germans who escaped, they were only six men short of matching the same amount who escaped from the Great Escape

I visited the camp back in the mid 80's when loads of buildings were up. There was stacks of wall art and I've got photos of some of it including a great castle. Has the drawing of the nude lady in the hut where the actual tunnel was dug been preserved? According to After the Battle magazine this was used to distract guards from the tunnel workings.

The hardliners were transferred to Carburton Camp, Welbeck, Nottinghamshire where Henry Faulk, the Camp System's leading de-Nazification expert was building up his scheme. See 'Convicted for Courage' by Kevan Pooler

And Canada. The only POW to escape and get back home, through neutral USA. A luftwaffe pilot. He died a year after his return. It's immortalised in the movie 'the one the got away' Hardy Kruger. The book is better.

You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.
