Whaaaaaaaaaat!!!! Shut the front door! What an awesome idea! I use these chopping mats on my craft table alllll the time to glue stuff on and to cut on, then wash with warm soapy water! Never ever thought about glueing them to paper. I have several pkgs of super special carta bella paper with my favorite watercolor florals that I can’t bring myself to use. Now I’m going to make one of those writing tablet books and put a durable cover on it. Oh my word girl! You have me beat on thinking outside of the box!! 😃😃 Just when I think I have stocked up on Dollar Tree supplies looks like a trip back is in order tomorrow!! (Ps I just made the most adorable treat /gift boxes filled with a variety of mini pads & post its for fellowship group.) I think I will have to give this one a whirl as well. Tfs!! 👏👏👏😃😃😃. Great idea using $Tree cutting mats as laminate. Such an easy technique to achieve laminated effect!! Love, love, LOVE 💘
When my girls were little I used to do something similar using clear contact paper. I used it on all their paper dolls including the clothes, the mazes and games from coloring books (dry erase markers can be use on it over and over again) , the covers of coloring books as well as any paper book covers of any kind, really anything that would be used alot and needed a little more durability. It worked amazing and lasted a long time. This works so well and saves so much money in the long run. I definitely recommend this to mothers with younger children. I love this idea for the planners for adults but for children I could laminate so many things with just one roll of contact paper. Just thought I'd share that idea for all the mothers out there.

I have a laminator, still haven’t use it but I really want to try this project out, so I’m going to try it, I’ll just check my craft cart and if I don’t have Elmers spray adhesive then I’ll pick some up. I just didn't have the strength..1 of my small dogs got bitten by the Golden Lab which result in a spinal fracture and haemopneumothorax. Lots of nursing before it was clear she wouldn't make it. I may have mentioned I'm allergic to dogs and cats and constant tending to her made me ill.
We had to put her to sleep. 😢😢😭

Hello Ms. Sherry! This is super cute! I have a tip I use when my magnet(s) are on the outside. I have hole puches all sizes, I just punch out same color cardstock and cover the magnet that way! Hope that makes sense 😊. Be Blessed!

Wow!! Thanks for the inspiration! I already had some cutting mats and some Elmer's spray adhesive . I planned on framing and crafting some of the pages from $ tree calendars...the pages are very thin. So I used your tip and stuck a page to a mat....voila!! Awesome! You can also make your own placemats this way....Thank you SO MUCH!!

Yes, I kept researching after commenting my questions, and curiosity. I see you did here, and yes, they turned out well. I see why you say, keep researching play lists, and please don’t ask if not necessary to help you out. I am still going to try hot lamination, but great to see cold works too. I could see a Dollar Tree Card laminated for longevity, after seeing this project. Just a matter of preference, as you have already done the work for us. I love trying to figure out things too.

This is an awesome idea! I'm working on a diy planner made from cereal boxes that this Laminating process will work on better than actually Laminating it. I will certainly give this technique a try. Thanks for sharing!

P.s. I'm using that SAME exact planner for this year and glued on a pretty paper cover when I got it last year! That was my first ever paper craft as a matter of fact.
But after my current planner is done I'm going to use my own custom planner that I'm designing on my computer.
I'm definitely going to get this dollar store stuff and give this project a try!
