Great video! Thanks for all the tips. 2 questions/tips/suggestions for you: 1) Would using a digital scale to measure out the paper work accurately enough instead of counting out a stack for each notebook? If the weight is consistent, it would be easy enough and quicker to measure out ___ amount for each type of notebook. And 2) they make staples and staplers that press completely flat- it would completely take out step and the need to press every staple flat. How delightful you are! Thank you for the detailed tutorial. You make the process easy to understand and I may actually try this after considering for a very long time. Most especially, thank you for the details on the guillotine cutter! I have this exact machine but haven’t used it because the instructions were nonsensical. You made it easy to understand. The cutter has been in my studio for 4 months…untouched! I’m going to try it tomorrow. I’m binging your videos now. Thank you!
Such a good tutorial! I actually watched it while making my own notebooks hehe For the red mat thing (I don't know what it's called haha) on your guillotine, you can turn that around to a clean/new side and not have to use the cardboard. Underneath your machine, there are two small black screws, take those out and you'll be able to take the red thing out and turn it around - you can reuse it 8 times. I've done mine earlier today actually and it's just like new!
Yay, hope it helps you 😍 I already got some messages about it, I tried it in the past but didn't knew how to take it out. Thank you so much, going to do that for sure 🥰🥰
You can actually switch around the red part on your guillotine. There's a screw at the bottom that holds the red wood in place. Just leaving this in case you didn't know. Great video ❤

OMG so my crafting interests range all over the place, and i just rewatched this video recently and laughed again at how you asked for something to press the staples down with, and your dad just gave you something you didn’t know about (like many dads do 😂). THEN the same day I happened to watch a jewelry making video that for the first time had a similar tool! I believe they said it’s a jeweler’s hammer. The one in the jewelry video I saw is a different style, but it seems to just be for aesthetic purposes. So now you can include this in your supplies in the description if you like… Love this video, super helpful and insightful. Hey, I might be late for this and maybe someone else told you, but if you are still struggling with the big paper cutter, try to lengthen the lever arm. You could find a metal tube or build an extension for the lever, whatever works for you. Even an extension of 20-30cm will reduce the effort considerably. The longer the lever arm the more effortless it will be! Other than that, I loved the video, the notebooks, the process and the illustrations, you're really good at what you do :) I wish you all the best in you future ♥️

Hi, great video. I am a paper -lover and love making a variety of types and sizes of notepads, notebooks, journals, etc. You name it, I've probably made it! I have the same heavy duty paper-trimmer. Here's a a tip: you can get four times the usage from the red rubber cutting pad the blade cuts into. Once the cutting path is too wide, just take it out and rotate 180 degrees. Once that cutting path is too wide, just flip the cutting pad over, use, and rotate again when needed--helps your cutting pad last four times as long. Happy notebook making! 😃
Hiii thank you so much 🥰 I've had some comments that you can take it out by taking out the screws below the machine, I still couldn't make it, but I will for sure 💛 thank you!
I have the same type of guillotine, you can actually turn and reinsert the red part, you have 4 sides to it you can use. You can take it out and replace it too.
Thank you for your videos. I had started on my mini notebooks months ago. I was disheartened and than after watching your videos, I had seen that you faced the same problems that I had. I have just recently finished stapling up my mini notebooks and cleaned up the edges. I am super stoked with how they had turned out. So again I thank you so very much for your time and sharing your videos. :D
I make a lot of stickers for my self (most of them are copy-righted or specific to my need so I don't sale them) and I have a suggestion. It might be better to use paper larger than A0 (talking about some extra 2cm on each side) to have proper bleed region around every covers/objects so that the graphics extend to the edge of the cover and even a millimeter of screwup in cutting won't make the cover look weird. Given that you have one of those large paper cutters (what is that called 😅), one trick I do is manually trim 2 adjacent side to compensate for printing error and then align all the sheets on those 2 side and use a paper cutter to cut a stack at once. Also, my system for cutting complex shape is: I would put black trim marks and a red line between trim marks so that I am clear about which trim mark should I reference and where I need, and more importantly should not, cut.

You can look on Etsy for pattern paper under what is called SVG or PNG files which will be digital download. ( search : pattern paper SVG) Look in the seller information on that item and check to see if they allow their image to be use for commercial use. It will also state if they allow unlimited use or an exact amount to use before u have to repurchase the license. Majority of the files are around 1-2 bucks (U.S.) and I’ve noticed the pattern paper is in a bundle and is usually around 5 bucks (U.S.) sometimes more or less. Just search and u will see a lot of beautiful pattern paper that u can print on card stock paper or paper that is a little thinner or the paper she was using in the video. There are many free sites that can convert the SVG/PNG to J-PEG format. These specific files are used for people who use die cutting machines. Like the you tuber said, don’t give up💕 I cannot draw at all. I am still starting my business . Good luck

Thank you so much, hope it helps! If you find anything on the process that you can't do, let me know! I don't but that's actually a nice idea! I was saving some to make recicled paper, but that's even better. I'll start putting them in a box eheheh. Thank you so much for the tip! 🥰🥰💛
I don't like watching long videos but I watched every minute of yours, Its absolutely amazinngg! 😍😍
AAAAH, that's amazing!! Thank you so so much, that really means a lot! 🥰
😹😹the little hammer is called a toffee hammer it’s used to brake up homemade toffee😹😹 or the old fashion toffee sheets that you use to be able to buy a few years ago, pre 1990’s 😹😹
As a bookbinder you have explained it very well as well as showing how you made them🤗🤗
That is so cool!!! Thank you so much for letting me know eheheh. My dad had it for years but didn't knew where we got 😂
Thank you so much for the sweet words, that's very nice to know!
@@aPenasIllustrator your welcome 🤗🤗, I have a toffee hammer which me own Dad gave me when I needed a light weight hammer for one of my many hobbies. I remember when we use to make peanut and toffee brittle he bought the hammer from the sweet shop so we could brake the brittle without smashing it as a normal hammer would do🙀
I’ve been looking for a video like this for years. Thank you, RUclips!!!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot! 🥰
That is so cool! Thank you for this tutorial. Your notebooks are beautiful!
Thank you so much lovely, that's very sweet of you 🥰💛
You make me appreciate hand made notebooks so much more now! Beautiful!
Thank you so much 😭🤗
Maybe you can use a scale to do the page count? It would save so much time and would save your hands as well. Such cute product!
Thank you so much 🥰 I'll need to count them anyway and take sheets out or in. But I'll try it to see the difference! 😊
Thank you so much for sharing all your tips and tricks! I love all of your cover designs. It seems like such a relaxing process once you get into it
Thank you so much!! I'm very happy to be able to share with you 💛 it is, is one of my favorite products to make, love the process!
I love notebooks even more after seeing this and I respect your craft. Thank you for sharing!!!
I have the same type of guillotine, you can actually turn and reinsert the red part, you have 4 sides to it you can use. You can take it out and replace it too.
Thanks lovely! I already got some comments and those, going to try to change it tomorrow 🥰✨
Aaaah, this are the comments that makes it all worth it! Thank you so so much for letting me know and yay you for doing it 😍🌈
I make a lot of stickers for my self (most of them are copy-righted or specific to my need so I don't sale them) and I have a suggestion.
I don’t think you meant A0, that’s a very big paper! I print boarderless so the graphics do extend to the edge of the cover 🥰
Hi, I'm from Puerto Rico, this is my first time watching one of your videos and I loved it! I can see it's a lot of work but you definitively do a great job, your notebooks are beautiful. Lovely tutorial! I always get scare when I see you working on that glass table and pressing with the staples. I’m afraid that glass plate is gonna break! 😬 Of course I hope that never happens 🤗
Ahahah I never thought of that! But don't worry, the glass is super super thick! 😊 It works perfectly as a working table for that eheh. Thank you for watching 🥰

I'm in the states. I'm having problems with your link. I was wondering what brand, make, model of guillotine do you use?
Thanks
I believe the one that I use is only available in Europe! I tried to check the link and is working, maybe that's why! I bought it two years ago, so I only have the link, don't know exactly the brand. But send me a message on ig and I'll send you the link from Amazon Spain where I bought it 😊
The best video on how to make a notebook. That guillotine cutter is everything 🤩 And lots of hardwork from your side 👏
Thank you so much for all the love! :D
this would literaly be my dream job to make notebooks, notepads and stickers but . . . for the life of me i cant design or draw enything and i have tried for years to practice, i can barely draw a heart . . .
Keep trying lovely, if it's your dream don't give up, there's always a way. I truly believe if you really want something, we can make it happen 💛🥰
Good luck
Thank you for showing us your process in which I am truly appreciative. I realized, from your video, that I needed to add 3 scorelines instead of 2 in the center to accomodate the bulk from the papers. What a simple fix to the cracking spine! You've earned a new subscriber! Hugs from Villa Rica, GA! ☀🌴🏖I am late posting this comment but nevertheless.
Such a simple thing but makes a big difference! Once I tried it I had the same reaction 😂 glad this helped 🥰
I hope your business is successful because I see the love and time you put into each notebook.

Acelarou imenso o processo :)
