Zach is a better interviewer than 99% of those on TV.
past the breakers no actually wtf
I'm not religious, but that church seems like my kind of place.
I don't and can't believe in god - but it makes me happy to see people finding peace, hope, love and luck in their god and treat people respectful despite their sexuality, religion or skin colour. So happy, it makes me wanna cry :')
Thanks for that. I know there are a lot of people who use religion as an excuse for their prejudice, but thanks for seeing we're not all that way!
Not being rude but why "can't" you believe in God(s)?
thats the whole point of it. Like she said Jesus is the example. anything else.. is something ppl made up and it's not love
"He gave me a cake of love." Hahaha awesome!
I totally want to go to this church.
Which is saying a lot, since I'm a pretty committed agnostic.
I read a study recently that said baptists are some of the most devoted adherents to their religion. The world needs more people who are devoted and committed. That's the key to happy marriages and any relationship for that matter.
the key to a happy relationship is communication, honesty and equality. not faith!! a faith that puts women under the boot and men the MEN of the family.. f
I'm not saying any religion is the key to a happy marriage but the character of being devoted and committed to something. The willingness to put forth effort and work for something greater than yourself.
micahstubz for sure! something greater than yourself is key to any life... but with so many on that table... how should one choose and be devoted?
micahstubz In fact... to choose something to be your God is kind of an absurdity of the modern life don't you think?
tim barone I don't think so. You aren't choosing something to be your God you're choosing to acknowledge that you don't know everything and humbly seek for answers to life's questions and help through trials. The devotion part of the equation is a dedication of time and effort to that journey of enlightenment or faith or relationship or whatever that power is that you are acknowledging.
I like how Isis explained that we bring the spirit with us. No matter what religion you are if you live it and you seek it or bring it you will feel it. I loved the older couple who talked about treating one another like royalty and how that has kept them strong...50 years strong. So inspiring.
I like how much she emphasized how much of a roll love plays in the Christian faith. I feel like it is a very common misconception that all Christians are pretentious and judgmental, and some people do act that way. But in actuality the bases for being a Christian is showing love to everyone.
Foundation of Christian Faith is not Christians, nor behavior of Christians. Foundation of Christian Faith isn't even an answered prayer, nor all of our questions answered. The foundation of Christian Faith is what we celebrate at Easter(Jesus' resurrection).
The foundation of Christianity in my opinion is following Christ and following the ways of the bible. I am not myself a baptists, catholic, but I love Jesus and worship God.
SeanKimStyle
which was the greatest act of love.
"“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
-John 3:16

Because we're not perfect and it's our job to spread the word of God and sometimes it comes across wrong, my opinion.
So wonderful. :) I love hearing these stories of different beliefs and I love Zach! His sense of humor, and his general awesomeness, and his open mind as he learns about such a variety of faiths.
Gosh I love Zach so much! He never fails to put a smile on my face, whether he's being serious or playful, I enjoy every minute of it. I hope I can meet him one day, give him a big hug and get to tell him how amazing I think he is. Another great video Zach!! :-) love you!
I love this series so much. I'm learning a lot.
I don't know much about religions, but just based on this video, I think that if I were Christian I'd want to be a Baptist.
It's the best one❤️
This first lady of the church is so beautiful and eloquent! Love how they revitalized this church!
Definitely, love seeing the different religions and the differences between them but I also am really fascinated in the different facets that are within my own religion and the different denominations. I respect the people who go to Baptist churches because there's in no way I'd be able to worship for two hours. My pastor loses me after more than an hour. I do wish she spoke a bit more about misconceptions because I would like to know more about what maybe media is showing that isn't necesarily correct. Zach as always you were fantastic and hilarious. Great episode.
Yes, people NEED the love. Absolutely.
This was great! I am LDS but I just love getting to learn about other Christian faiths. These people seem like genuine beautiful people who practice what they believe and I have learned a lot from their wonderful examples.
Zach I look forward to these videos. You are doing such an amazing thing, exploring asking the questions that we all want to know. The one thing at the core of everyone you have interviewed so far is LoVe.
Keep on rolling Zach. Thank you so much for sharing with the world!
Loved this, if one day I come across a baptist church that will be definitely my place to worship . I loved the way paster told then to "hug some one now" and comfortable they were to dance , sing, orcry,
the hugging thing is very common
that couple is blessed there is so much warmth in their spirit
I love everything that this channel has to offer. It definitely opens up your mind to new perspectives.
I am LOVING this series! Keep it up. :) Zach, your personality is infectious (in a good way). You seem like such a wonderful and lovely person. I can't wait for next week.
I am non religious but I like the baptists view on things.
There is a great United Methodist gospel church near where I live. It's a big church. I'm not religious, but it's fun to go every once and a while to hear the music.
Immersion is awesome. Singing & praising in Spirit & in truth alongside my brothers & sisters is such a blessing.
I'm Catholic and I love all my Christian brothers and sisters. 😊
I loved what she said about loving people who are different from you and who don't understand you - I think that is so true for almost all the religions I have come into contact with. The majority of religious people have open hearts, but as usual the loud, small minority of crazies become the stereotype of religion and those who take the scriptures literally (either believing it entirely or rejecting it entirely) fail to understand the true intent behind them.
I can't believe that woman was 95 years old! She looks wonderful!
Baptists are awesome!
Thanks for doing our faith! I cannot say I completely relate because my contemporary church that uses a baptist doctrine is not exactly the same. But Love Christ, Love People is how we like to keep the faith! Thanks Soul Pancake!
The first lady has a good point with being light hearted and humorous.
As a Lutheran in the Midwest, proud of this congregation! Blessings.
I go to a baptist church of mostly caucasian people, just wanted to let others know that they are not always african american. But I love it so much, singing, making music, praying together, and listening to my pastors sermon is always my favorite thing. It doesn't even feel like 2 hours! I love the Lord and I sure hope lost people who don't know the Lord watch this video and open their hearts! AMEN!
These videos are amazing! Thank you Zach and everyone who helps put these videos together! Awesome idea, and you're all awesome people!!
I really love this show, every time a new episode comes out I learn so many new things about people and their beliefs. What's most interesting for me though was finding out about other parts of the Church, as there can be very big differences between all the different groups. I myself go to what I think is a mixture of episcopal and something else, but the main focus is pretty similar to what this church's focus was, and it's encouraging to see people with such a strong faith and belief that god loves and his spirit is with us.
The women here-Isis and the 50 years married lady- are so radiantly beautiful, the jewels in the crown of happy marriage and right living. Why does pop culture deify their polar opposite?
I think you are so funny Zach you brought a lot of happiness to my day. I love this channel it is the best funniest Christian based channel on RUclips
Actually, Rainn Wilson (who started Soul Pancake) is Baha'i.
But, I agree that this is a great channel and Zach does an amazing job with this series.
I'll have to visit this church next time I'm in the LA area. I miss my baptist church back home. If anything, it's always a great vibe and you always leave happy :)
I've been Catholic all my life. This makes me want to convert.
Im Catholic and Ive been to a baptist church, if you want the fullness of faith, stay catholic and attend the tridentine Mass, Im going to assume you dont (most catholics dont) but its amazing, and there is nothing on earth that compares to it. Baptist churches are very... feel good, they lack a lot of our doctrine though and probably at the opposite end of the spectrum, so that pretty much sums it yup. Baptists are great and all, but you will never beat the holy sacrifice of the Mass as it has been said for ages :)
Why?
lol. good for them who are in one true church. and you the opposite
and it's weird someone wanted to convert because of one clip. lol
The old lady who Zach talked to after the service was awesome! :D The lord truly gave her a cake of love!
Oh how I love the way she expresses faith. Also the young man, he is so open and joyful and fun :)
Can I just say while there are only 3 comments, this series is why I subscribed to Soulpancake. Its amazing.
Man, I'd go to that church.
I really appreciate this. I think I've had a somewhat negative perception of Baptists, but I'm glad this opened my mind and opened my heart.
i likes it when she said that god is love and love can expressed in many different forms .. and loved the cute elders i hope a happy live for them
oh, i loved this episode. very nice people there. i like the colours, the humanity, the touching, the love. i dont really believe in 'god', but i am absolutely sure, that when i would feel very sad and depressed, this community would help me a lot. today i was shopping in the city and an old man randomly started a conversation with me..it last for 20 minutes and was very nice...for both of us. and the end we were shaking hands very long and wished us all the best. it was great. so many old people dont have somebody to talk to, but they have so interesting stories to tell. the old people in this baptist church seems to be very happy and well integrated. these many hands on the old womans shoulder and these hugs at the end are really important. in churches here in germany are not enough of these physical interactions.
zach, i loved the intro :)
I would love to see you talk about Catholicism! It's a wonderful faith that so many people don't know much about!
I oughta go visit a baptist church sometime. It just seems like a nice place to visit once in a while
I am a 17 year old girl from Romania. My country is an orthodox country, and baptists are a minority here. I accepted Jesus 2 years ago,I am the only one in my family so it is pretty easy to be criticized. I almost got kicked out of my house for loving Jesus, but I find my strength in Him and I pray that people will see Him through my life. I am persecuted everyday, people see me as a freak but I couldn't care less. He saved me from depression and self harming. I chose to leave the orthodox church because I never found God there I only found traditions and judgmental people but when I went to a Baptist church I met authentic Christians that live for Jesus and they showed me love and kindness I felt accepted for once.
Amalia Elena I’m Catholic but whatever makes you happy! Keep your faith!
God bless you darling. Keep seeking Jesus and following you, he'll comfort you and strengthen you in your time of need. I'm a Baptist too, but I've come to learn that it's not about the church itself but it's about having a personal relationship with Jesus. God bless you darling. Praying for you. Have a nice day ❤
because you left one of church that historically more authentic than that man made sect. you may amazed by their faith but they're protestantism. like other -ism of protestantism. you should seek truth & knowledge over emotion & feeling.
edit: and this church is so divided & based on race.
Joe Rico no the church is likely just in a predominantly African-American area. I'm from England and there are loads of baptist churches with white, black and brown people.
Wow! This kind of sums up the faith of most protestant Christians. Great video!
Those are some awesome ladies
I grew up Southern Baptist, and now I’m a Unitarian Universalist. Baptism is not only for adult believers, at least in some Baptist churches. Many children are baptized, as long as they (presumably) understand what they are doing. My grandson was baptized at age 8. I was baptized at the same age. This is just a clarification re: the caption introducing the faith. Also, our services did not generally last two hours. I remember that being the case only on special occasions such as Easter. And Baptist weddings are really brief compared to those of other faiths.
This is by far the best series on all of youtube!!
Made me cry a little! I think I had a spiritual experience!
I love Zach so much
That was Beautiful! Thank you!
These are such lovely people and such a great community!
“ahh, the spirit of refreshment!” too funny :)
Wow. Zach seems like
He'd be such a wonderful friend and person to hang out with:) you go!
I would have liked to have heard them talk about the death and resurrection of Jesus. His mission was to reconcile the world to God through His work on the cross and in His rising from death. Following Jesus can't happen without first accepting that work.
I love this church, I would love to go there one day! :D
This one made me think to open my mind a little bit about
churches. Thx for the video. Seems like a neat church with good ppl
Thanks Zach for doing these. You are so completely awesome!
wow this really warmed my spirit, thanks zach and soulpancake!
Amazing, as always!!! I love the diversity and depth of your videos!❤❤
I love this so much! You're very funny, Zach!!
I love you Zach! I love the videos that you've put out so far too. Truly and inspiration. Keep doing what you're doing because I will be watching all of your videos!
I want to meet all these lovely people on this series, too.
Thanks for this video. I really liked Zack and his sense of humour too!
Looking good today Zach! :) I love you! And you are attractive btw so don't think you aren't!
I'm in love with everything about him. He's perfect to me also.
Man I love this show!! so so awesome!!
Loving this series
Thanks Soulpancake. You're so awesome :)
This series is great! Keep it up!!
So far this is my favorite episode of this series!
And Zach, this whole surrounding aswell as your handsome outfit suits you really well! Looking good ;)
God bless you Zack. you really have a sense of humor.
i love this !!!! ..this is awesome!
I very much enjoy this. It is a nice change in the typical exposure of Baptists. Nice job.
When I was baptized I was 7 years old , I feel like some baptist church's are a little different but mostly the same
Just awesome!
One of the best interview I have ever heard!
It's the roll! Keep rolling, Zach!
So good. Thank you!
Even though i'm of a different faith, I can take some really good words from this video and as always some feel good too.
Love the Baptist Faith
Great video nice people and big life lesson.
Awesome
omg what she said @ 4:23 was deep. never thought of that
this is great
Zach loves this... thanks for sharing and being so open minded. Would love if you came to the Philly area and visited the church I work at! Keep sharing the love.
You looking really handsome Zach & again amazing video :). Hugs :).
Zach, you're so much fun! You fit right in everywhere you go. What a gift you have. I''m familiar with Baptist and other christian denominations and the difference I've seen isn't really owning the church or forms or baptizing - most do this as well. It's their doctrinal teachings, particularly on the 'holy spirit', salvation (once saved, always saved), and their hierarchical structure that differs. Of course she's not going to explain that to you! Your face would be like 0-0
great vid!!
One quick note if I may, regarding misconceptions of Baptists (and a bit of a history lesson!:) One of the more widely spread misconceptions is that Baptists are Protestant. The word "Protestant" actually refers to any denomination that came out of the Catholic Church. They "protested" the teachings of Catholicism and started Lutheran churches, Presbyterian churches, etc. The baptist denomination was actually never affiliated with the Catholic Church. Thanks for the kind videos!
Every christian denomination came out of the Catholic Church. Some are farther from the church because they are split of another split of another split. The Catholic church was established by Christ himself and is the original church. So yes the Baptists are protestant. Google "who started your church" and you will see a map of all christian denominations split from the original Catholic church.
Zach youre the man, keep it up!
You're so hot though. I wish you still had blue hair. I am sure it is much better than your natural colour. Why else would you dye it blue like that if you didn't hate your natural hair colour. #Maryjanemonarchlogic
Maryjane Monarch I am surprised you didn't pick up on me not using an apostrophe. Well I'm not actually that surprised. It is you after all.
As a Christian, 3:50 was like, "Woah O_o, that's beautiful"
Cool!
As a Baptist, this video makes me happy. It's interesting, my Church is primarily Caucasian, although like this Church we do have other ethnicities. The only difference between my Church and this is that our services are only an hour long. But we have "Amen"s during services and full body baptisms and singing
Even though I'm an atheist...and think most all religions have caused far more harm than good in the world...I still find aesthetic and emotional aspects of all religions to be very very interesting and sometimes inspiring. I love Catholic and Hindu art for instance...Islamic calligraphy...and Buddhist/Taoist philosophy. But, as a musician...I LOVE the soul music of Baptist churches. How can you go wrong with any genre of music so rooted in the blues? You can't. :)
Love you
great video!
