With how Capcom have done it, let's just remove the mage outright and put all the skills onto the sorcerer / vice-versa.

Also, don't sleep on the Silence ability - it's a gamechanger vs. dragons. I leave it on my Mage Pawn and they try and silence goblins every now and then which is funny, but it's worth it to not really have to deal with spells from Chimeras, Dragons, Lichs, etc.
Just camp next to dragon, then change the skills
Also if you silence the drake while its casting a spell airborne its an instant knockdown.
The unique skill for sorcerer should have been spell hold....and being able to combine spells to make new ones
Running both the Arisen and Pawn as Mages with High Palladium being up almost 100% of the time on the front lines at the moment. Got a friends thief and another friends archer fighting mostly uninterrupted while my pawn and I tank, heal and DD.
Me as a mage : Must run from all danger
Please do no sleep on Hargol. It’s good against mobs, and can freeze a lot of bosses. Throw it out then throw the exploding spell to get a guaranteed explosion
Pawn Mage for me is High Frigor High Empyrean High Halidom High Palladium

I did this quest and she never gave me the mage skill, do I have to talk to her as a mage to unlock it?
No, it is because the old lady is dead. You have to go to the morgue and resurect her. Sleep for 1 day then go back to their home and when you are close to their house leave your pawns behind with wait command.
Then go alone and you'll hear the girl screaming and you'll have to chase her a bit more then when she is exausted grab her to put her on the ground.
After that you will get the skills.

Theres an npc xou can buy back lost questitems
Check point rest town, scrap store, unique items, (the list of every item worth saving that was lost or sold) gifting will lose it forever

Picking a mage is kind of situational
Depending on the region people who hire pawns are they may be looking for certain elemental enchantments, and prefer mostly healing spells
People who want offensive spells usually go for sorcerer pawns to hire
@@pidgy8927 yup. My main pawn is a sorcerer and got picked by over 30 people. Using a mage pawn as support.
If you want your mage to get picked give them High Palladium, High Empirean, High Levin, and pick a boon you like. Obviously get all their core skills and augments.
Personally I don’t like mages I hire to have any other healing or support spells besides a boon and High Palladium, so they don’t spend time trying to heal me. Just buff and then use Levin and keep buffing once they’re down👍

Biggest issue with player being a mage is that there are only 4 slots for active skills while almost all of mage's skills are very good. Hope Capcom would increase the slots to 8 otherwise I'll be using a mod that does that😄

Especially for the two magic vocations, the melee weapons don’t feel nearly as bare bones

To me mage is second best vocation behind thief, i usually run thief with my main pawn who is also a thief, warrior and a mage and the other half of the time i run mage and have 2 warriors and my thief, i have yet to have any difficulty
Sorcerer is for pure damage, mage is more for utility.
@@DeathlyOathSame, you feel so in control of the battle and your pawns with the right set up, I’ve been running two theifs a fighter and me as the mage and it’s been a blast!
@@ButterscotchPenguin Magic Archer is a great blend between damage and support. Honestly if you like being able to heal and buff, MA can do that and tons of damage too.

Run something more useful for day runs
Just regularly make camp and stay in day time
If you wanna do night stuff or your camp got raided and your kit got destroyed and it's night just switch the skill to empyrean at the campfire for the night
This is far more effective
