  • Angela has been a student at Nanjing International School for almost thirteen years. Self-diagnosed with a serious case of obsessive reading disorder, books have become a home to her as much as Nanjing. At TEDxYouth@NIS, Angela will be sharing stories and results from her recent project exploring the use of fiction to teach empathy to local Chinese school children and her realization that empathy is not taught, but inspired. In her talk, she will examine how children’s books can be used to gently deliver the spark of empathy that will one day grow into a wildfire.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).
TEDxYouth@NIS is happening on March 3rd, 2018 at Nanjing International School. Our goal is to provide a platform where the people of Nanjing can share their ideas worth spreading in either English or Mandarin.
    TEDxYouth@NIS
