This man out Rudy Rudy in Pokemon with this analysis well done. Before people come fore me it shouldn't be that hard considering Rudy has like 20 different brands to follow. I agree with this assessment.
Every generation before Scarlett and violet had 3 sets at most to showcase the new Pokemon. So far in scarlet and violet every set except for 151 has showcased new Pokemon, which is a massive difference. I believe surging sparks and team rocket will be the first sets (except 151) to have older and more favourable Pokemon in them. However I believe this trend will only be the start of the last block of scarlet and violet. Meaning the last 3 sets will be absolutely bonkers and we have no idea what they are yet. I'm thinking special illustration rares for ho-oh, xerneas, yveltal, zygarde, Groudon, kyorge, reshiram, Zekrom and kyurem. Ones we never got in sword and shield. And if they just do Rayquaza, Lugia, giratina or eeveelutions then it's a no brainer. But just 3 sets to do so many Pokemon means there has to be something big coming in 2025.
He is right. What he is saying is why vintage stuff blew up back in 2020 and 2021. That is where all the money was going because there was not much else out there in terms of the cool factor and artwork. Then the money began to shift as more and more sets with alt arts starting churning out and vintage began to lose its luster. Now Sword and Shield is starting to feel dated to some as it becomes buried and under an avalanche of newer sets. All of these newer ones are going to do well though, because whichever set it is that becomes the one that turns the vortex back on, it will have a ripple effect on a number of other sets that were released near or around such.
Uhh ... Rarity vs scarcity And everyone slanging the new stuff is putting it into the old discount stuff Regardless of art or the hype or new fad, the older items aren't being made anymore Never will be made again Unlike every single SV set right now in a year could be reprinted Fairy Cards, the pink ones, are retired and reserve list for example Think
I feel like 2025 is going to be an amazing year: Trainer Pokémon, Team Rocket, Eevee set.. in saving my money to go hard for 2025 (I can’t afford to buy every set)
I have this thought of the next 7 years being crazy and so on. Older fans are mid to high 30s which we will be getting into our 40s The 14 year olds will get into their 20s and and the 7 year olds will be in their teens. Hobby is going to grow at a crazy rate
They physically CANT reprint EVERYTHING atleast, not if they wanna keep up with their current schedule! Was there ever any info on why the etbs got delayed? Printing issues? What if they behind?!?!!!
SV01 already got a “reprint” but I think for SV it will take high prices for Pokemon to reprint anything similar to Brilliant Stars reaching $180/box before that reprint. From now on we should heavily consider that reprints don’t necessarily mean price decreases as distributors can keep prices high, I guess it depends on reprint size. My less bold take: we see “resupply” hit the market and not just a wave 2 but perhaps wave 3 and wave 4 which if done correctly can maintain healthy market prices
Alex, I know your not a huge fan of looking at future sets however, surging sparks will be really big if the hit rates stay the same. The set is large, there are popular pokemon and good artworks. The hype is already starting so this video makes sense I can see the masses jumping there too. I also agree the sets for sv have been🔥 and you'll start seeing less people complain about the hats etc......thr only thing I'm curious about is with some sets coming that could be crazy (surging, Eevee set, battle partners, rocket) how are they going to print these heavily and reprint multiple sets? I can feel some of these sets about to pop off, glad I have all of early sv already and can focus mostly on the newer sets coming.
Would you say it’s important to take into account the possibility of a general economic crash? Like the world economy doesn’t look too stable right now..
As a og i dont remember hit rates being this hard i remeber i had like 4-5 first edition charizards and the same for the rest felt i was getting a holo every 3 packs
You do get a “hit” every 3 packs still. It’s just a lot of the inserts are not the “chase card”, but anything other than a base holo is technically considered a “hit”
I know you talked about one piece before and that you have sold and made your profit that you wanted. But do you think one piece would become a solid tcg if it last over 5 to 10 years minimum? Or let me ask this way . How many years do you think a tcg needs to proof it self and the value of the products in the market ?
Good Question. There hasnt really been many TCGs establish themselves with high long term value and wide popularity long term other than Magic, Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. I think OP has a chance to do so but its still risky this early. Maybe after 3 to 5 years i would consider it established enough.
"This is going to be a long one!" 14 minutes later. *You lied to me Alex... I trusted you* 😭 Jokes aside. Thanks for another banger. Appreciate the input.
Great take. You aren't selling to yourself when you go to sell. Understanding your market is key. If the market wants charizard give them charizard hahaha
I know I’m stocked up on twilight masquerade along with paldea evolved and temporal forces and pokemon 151 . Anything else that’s good that comes out im gonna get it !
Dont sleep on paldea when the glitz and glamour is on 151, surging sparks, the team rocket set, etc. new generation of kids at wound the 6-10 year olds will gravitate to the paldean generation when they get older ... My prediction
I live in the uk and finding cases at 600 dollars is £453 I can only find cases for 500-540 would you still say that’s a okay deal to get involved or do you think I could find the deals at the price of 450 in the uk if I keep looking can get bit cheaper buying per box at 80-90
Team rocket set is going to be sold out everywhere first month and people will continue to buy it like wolves for atleast a year. 800$+ a box first year 100%
I think the probability of reprints is way higher than no reprints. It would be interesting if someone had the data that showed the % of sets that get reprints
Yooooo Nomics quick question. I went in on meta at 95 it’s 500 plus now I feel like it’s over value should I sell now and invest all that money on shiny cardboard??😅
@@jonathanyugi455 You must care that much you replied, it ain’t that deep. He knows what he’s talking about the Pokémon cards figured I would ask someone that knows what they’re talking about. People can’t ask questions anymore geezzz
Nah, there are way too many cards and sets now. It will get saturated, and the base will prevail, especially as millennials continue to progress into their maximum earning years. Everything swings back to the mean.
Surging Sparks will be a flop. The card artwork is not good at all. The Latios and Latias cards are cool together, but visually not that appealing with boring colors. This set is not it. Stellar Crown on the other hand will be much better.
I don't agree with this at all but we shall see, most of the set hasn't been shown off yet if we have 11 SIRs and if hit rates stay it's going to be extremely hard to hit specific cards with a couple dragons and Pikachu chase I imagine it's by far the best main set of SV through the first 8.
Reminds me of Vivid Voltage just from the ETB cover. VV had some pretty insane value out the rip. Just so happens that set had a big chase Pika, I’m sure Sparks will too. Stellar is a beautiful set. I think the vortex starts with Stellar Crown.
Hot take: the best of the SV era already happened. It was 151. One of the most cohesive modern sets ever. Price wise, I think bigger chase cards will come. But as far as a SET, it won’t be outdone imo.
Anyone with pokemon knowledge give me some advice. I want to invest in a pikemon card between 1-1.5k and give it to my son who can sell when he's 18 years old. Any recommendations? I like psa 9 1st edition gyrados. Ir base set charizard psa 9. What do use all think? Any better options?
My 2 cents (or hope since I am selling off SV boosters). When the new SV sets come out people will loose interest in the older SV sets and boosters will drop back < $100. That will coincide with additional SV reprints for boosters in Q4.
