Amazing car. Almost bought it new in Germany but I went for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio because it was actually cheaper after dealer's discount. 80-86k is the asking price atm in Germany for 2022/3 model with great spec. Hi Sam thankyou for the great review... I'm from Ottawa area and used to drive a 2008 335 sedan... it had great power but terribly rough ride probably due to the stock suspension and run flat summer tires it came with. I now drive a 2011 328 coupe which may not have the same power but definitely a smoother ride. Now I'm looking at 2023 M340 ...do you think speccing it out with adaptive suspension and non run flat tires would help making the rider smoother? The other vehicle I'm thinking of is the 2023 X4 any thoughts would be appreciated
The ride even with adaptive suspension is smooth. The difference from normal to sport, is small. Slightly stiffer, 18% to 20%. The X4 is a larger vehicle, seating higher off the ground. The engine is the same technically. The best is to drive them, and see if you actually need or like the SUV. Cheers

@@drivescene6747 that's exactly the point, to many the perception would be, "nice car, but why didn't you get an M3?" And it's worth noting a 330i with the M-sport package looks virtually identical to an M340i.
@@biddyboy1570 that's irrelevant but I drive a RS5 Sportback.
@@TheBreakfastLover fair point. In my observation it seems the cars in this segment were intended to be sleepers, so the M340i looks like a 330i, the C43 looks like a C300 and the S4 looks like an A4 with slight differences here and there. I think these cars were meant to fly under the radar…….really quickly lol.
Hey Sam! Thanks for the awesome review. I ordered one of these with the same specs. Right down to the anniversary badges! Traded in my Stinger GT1 AWD, which was a respectable car. The M340i should be on another level.
Hope you enjoy it!
Do you still own it?
Amen!! I have a 2021, it's just plain crazy fast. No one needs anything more. Great review.
Right on!
wanted to buy a g20 m340i lci but went for 2018 M4Competition instead.
0 regrets, i love this car to death
For a young guy and his growing family, this model is perfect. It's faster than most other cars on the road and looks handsome. If you are single, this car could break the ice for you. My own M2 does that in spades!
Crazy how how women claim to not be materialistic, but can’t look away from a nice BMW….
Nailed it. Well done. I love my 2023 M340i...
Thank you
I agree.. bmw should’ve left the shift knob in their smaller line ups. ex 2, 3 series
They could have upgraded the shift knob from 2022
Nevertheless we’ll get use to it because the car is fabulous
nah f that. I like resting my hand on it & sometimes using it for manual shifting. Glad i didn't wait for LCI
Love the red and blue accents on the emblems 🔥
@samcarlegion actually it seems BMW lied us a lot about the performance of this amazing engine. This beast actually makes around 410hp at the wheel which translates to around 440hp at the crank! Which is STOCK! It was measured on dyno in an 2022 m240i xdrive!
A little secret from BMW - kind of like an easter egg 🤪
The hockey stick remark is actually the Hofmeister kink . it is on every 3 series .mainly the window pillars . Wilhelm Hofmeister former BMW Engineer and Division manager .
Kinky...lol
The best car hands down!! In its class no match and in the states u can build a rwd one for 62k loaded nicely too
Couldn't agree more!
@@SamCarLegion but I will say this sam the new M2 6 speed is 63k here in the states wow what a deal!! Now that gonna be the best m car for the money what ya think buddy
That’s another great option too.
Shift knobs for an automatic...are for complete knobs. The little nugget shifter is great! Why have a huge shift knob when you don't need it? Click the nugget into drive, reverse, it's super easy! You actually appreciate that there is no clutter or a big knob in very short order. It's not a manual transmission, why need a huge knob? I love it!
“My favorite part about this car, the mirrors” tell me you don’t drive without telling me you don’t… drive
Sam as I have stated in many of your videos. The B58 is the king! Nice job brother!
It sure is!
Well, S58 is king but the B58 is the next in line
Absolutely incredible review! I subscribed based off of the structure of your video and how informative it is - not to mention the quality!
However…I blacked out my badges! I believe it adds a nice, aggressive touch
Got the pre-LCI model and loved it. Lease is about to expired so about to get the new LCI next month. I definitetly fallen in love with the new looks and design. Mixed feelings about the missing climate control, but I'll deal with. One of the biggest disappointment is the shifter. I love using the shifter to place my hand on it. I'm about to just grab a pen and tape it over the new shifter just so I can have something to hold. lol
You can retrofit the m3 or pre-facelift shifter. It's plug and play and many people have done it. Getting rid of the chicken nugget!
@@hg1496are there any videos on how to do it? I would like to do it if I end up getting an M340
Exterior looks fantastic. Motor is solid. Interior is a no go. Audi is going this direction too but at least they are keeping a more traditional shifter….for now. I want something newer (I have tuned b9 s4) but for some reason everyone is going touch screen minimal interior and for me (45yo Yank) it’s all a bit too much. Maybe I’ll buy 69’s -90’s car and make a resto mod. All that said, I do like the looks and performance of tbis car. Amazing.
I got a 21 m340i and I love it! B58 !!
Needs more drag races 👀
Late to the party but great review as others already said. I have a fully spect M340i Touring on order and can't wait to get it 👍
Q) whats the colour?
Amazing car. Almost bought it new in Germany but I went for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio because it was actually cheaper after dealer's discount. 80-86k is the asking price atm in Germany for 2022/3 model with great spec. Last year in December I got an offer from BMW for 60k for 2021 model. Price went up 20k within a year. 80 is way to much for it since you are very close to M3 M4 territory.
The Giulia handles much better than 3 series and the QV is epic. Enjoy!
2021 in the house. Great daily driver and a monster on the track.
Imagine if you could afford a real M car…. Yours doesn’t deserve the badging
It's stunning. Makes you think why BMW would make it so competitive with the M3/M4.... They are probably cannibalizing sales of the M cars
You could use a 24mm 1.4 lens to shot the inside of the car cuz that focal length didn’t help much the video
I have a 24-70 - thanks for the feedback
m badges everywhere is confusing with M models reducing the exclusivity , agreed
best daily driver i have had since owning a F30 M4.
Has anyone really compared this to the X3 M40i? I sold my 2015 435 Xdrive Gran coupe which I really regret selling. However, our Canadian winters make it a challenge to enjoy especially on roads with deep crusty snow in residential/industrial areas. I'm on the fence between the two (X3 M40i and M340i). Any personal experience out there on these two vehicles? Thanks
What did you end up buying?
Shift knob looks better for a sporty car, and the display panel looks good but looks poorly incorporated to the dash.
I love my F30 and will keep it forever. Just wish it had that massive screen.
What color is this one? The Brooklyn grey or skyscraper?
It bothers me that cooled seats aren't available for a car at this price point
Agreed. My 2017 Mustang GT premium came with cooled seats @ an MSRP of $39k
Saaaaaame hades, my 2016 350 Fsport has cooled seats and I never turn those things off.
I sold my 2021 M340 XDRIVE for an M3 g80 xdrive and .... never looked back! different solar systems!:)
Honestly this competes with the m3, doesn't make sense for BMW but good for us.
"I don't know who complained about the BLOODY SHIFT KNOB?!?!?!" HAHAHAHAHAHA ITS Hilarious cuz its TRUE!!!
Thank you for voicing what we were all thinking Sam!!!!!!
Is this M340i in the SkyScraper Gray color... ?
Can you use this on real wheel drive and get the same performance?
Which color is it ? Brooklin gray ?
Do you think the new M2 manual will be the same price as this or more expensive?
The M2 canada will start around 73k from what I have heard
@@SamCarLegion that’s a steal for what my expectations already are. I might have found my next car.
This engine will go down in history as one of the best engines ever made
Would love to have the 21-22 M340I. Perfect sedan for daily use.
Will the M440i xdrive get the same awesome new dash?????
It’s nice, but that shift knob missing is a big turn off especially if you want to up shift or down shift when you’re tracking it. Tracking it is now completely pointless.
This and the LCI X6 are the only BMWs that look amazing at every single angle
This or the cla45 AMG ?!?!
Hey, Sam! May I ask you which brand is the watch you wear during the video ? Thank you
Oris Aquis with Orange band
Curious to know why you wouldn't black badge it. BMW offers complete blackout on front, back, trim and exhaust.....to have chrome badging just looks silly.
Orange Leather iPhone 14 Pro case with orange leather watch band! Excellent combination!
Thank you
The LCI ain’t better, touch 1-8 buttons sorely missed when I took a test drive in one. Decided to buy the non LCI model because of this.
Front however does look nicer, the m mirror caps though is just funny, prefer the gold/grey caps myself.
That b roll in the beginning is smooth 🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
Just bought one today! Fantastic car and review!
This is the most beautiful 4 door sedan in this price segment. Can’t complain about the power, and it’s perfect for those boy racers graduating to dad life. I’m not there yet, but looking forward to this when the time comes. BMW perfected the 3 series!
Can you review the S4 now too
Great. Is this colour called Dravit Grey?
The way this thing takes off....while 10 year old Corolla is passing it in the other lane.
19mpg?! You ARE a maniac. I’m getting 27-28 combined. 35 freeway.
That car is a beauty.
What colour is it? Looks so good
is it faster than a new m440i?
Great review. A true drivers car. One of the best packages BMW offer.
The big screen though - and no physical buttons ?? I’d prefer a 2021 or 2022 - pre-LCI
Sam make sure you slide the f80 around in the snow this season. I have a blast doing it here in Chicago. What winter tires did you go with by the way? My f80 needs a new set.
Hey bud, I got Nexen Winguard Sport 2 19 Inch Staggered. I read some reviews and ratings, also 3 guys that had them, they loved them. Not the most expensive but I think i wont drive this car as much in winter since I might have press cars.
The summer ones, I am definitely not cheaping out 😊😊. The rear Michelin are new, I will get new for front :)
How long is the warranty on this BMW
Where did you get your watch??
From the shop
You actually do good car review.
Thank you 🥹
Why does nobody talk about the M3 having the S58 FULLY FORGED INTERNALS!?!? That is NOT an M3. It is a B58. BIG DIFFERENCE
Hey BMW, why not the 6 speed from the m3 in the 340
The grill on this car looks a lot better than the G8X grill! They should have given an option to have this on the M3 (instead of the hog snout).
Remember, too much digitalization makes your car maintenance difficult. We were able to fix or repair or find trouble in analog generation but this digital gen wants you to change the whole thing such as screen, computer, sensors since electric bus just got a lot complicated.
Cheers
This car is crazy 🔥
