+Let's Explore Yeah it sucks but I would rather that then it being demolished forever adleast that way outher people will get a use from the original building.
I would never buy an apartment in this development. This place should be torn down. Many years ago I worked a few shifts in this place - via agency because no one wanted to work there - many years ago and it was a place of misery. Thankfully the residents are now placed in good purpose built houses and I have met them over the years and life has been so much improved. Regardless of what people think, the ghosts of the tortured souls still emanate from the brickwork. And for those who have never worked there, don't criticise my thoughts, you were never there.
+Callum Dawson ill assume you worked there during its late days. did they still torture patients even into the 80s-90s before referring them to the austin? glad to hear they are treated better now.
hi callum, these facilities stretched over kilometers from larundal to plenty hospital to mont park all the way up to what is now the Bundoora homestead, the first 3 have all been close demolished or turned into units, I wouldn't deny you saw some things that weren't nice especially at larundal considering it was a high care facility and that's not good or forgivable considering the disabled are the most vunrable in society, but what I can assure you is not all wards or facilities were like that, I have a family member who worked at Plenty hospital for 25 years from late 70;s through 80's and early 90's Plenty hospital was not high care it mainly dealt with the elderly and depressed and physical disabilities, the patients there were not tortured they were treated as best as possible and the people who worked there took pride in what they did and did there best, from nurses to cleaners to cooks to social workers to gardeners, alot of the patients had actual just been left and abandoned at these facilities by their family's and at the time without the hospitals wouldn't have survived.I'm sorry you witnessed something that wasn't good or decent and if any people were responsible for that I'm sure they'll pay in the next life, but there was also a lot of decent people who worked there that were goodnand cared for the residents
it was a horrible place my great aunt was put in there in 1957 until it closed down and got more screwed up being in there after how they treated her she was a child when she was put in there and id say it was torture what they did to alot of the residents i am glad they closed down it makes me sad to think what they did to people when you are unwell you need care which is the furthest from what they did
Then if care was the furthest from what they did in their why did you leave your aunt in there for over 30 years? seems odd, probly should taken her out of there don't you think
It's fully closed up now, the entrance way at 26 seconds is closed up, and where you went in at 46 is closed off. Last year I and crew were there to film an episode of our webshow, we went there a couple days ago to see it during the day, there's an alarm system and new fences, no sign of ways to get in, only if very thin can get through the gate.
I just visited this place today. I jumped the fence but unfortunately everything is bordered up so I can only roam the outside. Therefore I've decided to watch this.
My Bff was here innocently brought in just before it closed. Hee has fears of basements and closed in spaces. Since being there and rarely talks about his two weeks being a patient there. He's totally sane too. Just anpther blunder the system made.I can't imagine being here. Great Vid. So sweet that you and your Dad went together. Thats what I call an awsome family.
My friends and I used to travel from the south east and park at a McDonalds over the road and used to explore here often between 2000-2006 in my mid teens Most of the buildings were still alarmed but you could still dodge some and get into most buildings. Windows weren't really boarded up in many places, tables, lockers and other random things left behind. Our visits would often end with security turning up when we triggered an alarm climbing through the wrong window or something We used to go for ghost hunting, not to disturb anything -MJ
One of the patients in this mental asylum back in 93 had a deep hatred of yoko. Ono and said she hated her because she drank blood to stay youthful. .. this was told to me by a friend who knew somebody that was a patient there at the time.. The person said this woman freaked and creeped her out.. ps ex patient comments are non existent. .. shame. . Their stories would be riveting.. also not all the patients here were incoherent or violent and quite a number had anxiety depression or body dysmorphia and eating disorders... not all were violent and psychotic
Was there a while ago at night just outside of the large building and heard someone in slippers shuffling along. There was no one else there at the time.
Tried to get into the main building earlier today, but its all boarded up. And only one very small gap in the fence to get through. Any recommendations on how to get in?
i use to live in the estate its not bad place to live apart from the old buildings i use wonder around looking at the old buildings they can be uncomfortable at times
I went to Larundel at night with friends back in 2010 as they wanted me to see the place Unfortunately we could not go in at all due to the security guys around at the time stoped us however one of them was really nice and told us a lot about the place.
If those walls could talk ... Many years ago I walked past the place and I could hear patients yelling out help me they're trying to kill us ! ( Doctors ) , Mad conspiracy ? Who knows ? .
i went to larundle on my birth day with my brother and it was night and on 0:15 where the door is my brothers car was pointing strait at it and somthing was in there! i nearly fanted!
Screw that, I would never rent out those places no matter how nice they look now. Prob fulled with creepy shit from all the people that passed. Noooo Thankyou, would have been cool to visit tho.
Interesting. Yeah it's just a thrashed building to me. If you have the original numbers you might what to reach out to the developers (Polaris Developments) because maybe they could use them to label the apartments. Thx for watching.
I remember going here taking heaps of photos on my old iPod touch and discovered a terrifying figure in the roof it was a guy sitting there with no face like slender NO JOKE I will some how get into my iPod and get the pic eventually
+Fogarty Avenue you need to go in the attic and the basement level i have photos but no video that place literally took my camera and i cant explain it
I went there at night it was summer our phone call change as we get in side the phone went dead and it was so cold in side we where nere the stairs and it felt like someone was trying to push me down them
Yes anxiety depression. .. now these places no longer open but public hospitals take on the responsibility and from what I hear they don't know how to do their jobs
Been here upto 15 times during night, Went on Friday night and pretty much impossible to get into now, entrances are blocked and if you wanna get in would recommend bringing some power tools hahaha, PS go there when it's night time around 12am to get more of a thrill ;)
+Bailey Watkins Yeah it would be pretty scary at night! If you used power-tools to get in that would be breaking and entering so you probably don't want to do that :P THX for the comment :)
@@FogartyAvenue my mother was a patient in one and she had sex with a bloke in there and had me and when i was 3 days old she got out some how and left me and 2 years later they closed it down and shes very crazy
should have been bulldozed down years ago and turned into a parklands for the poor tortured souls that still wander, and the tortured souls that still are alive but remember the hell they had to endure in the place, so many not all but so many that worked there should have had straight jackets on.....dont try to make something glorious out of what was a living hell for so many that were here either by choice or not....it was a hell hole
Don't you hate it when they turn awesome abandoned locations into condos

+Scared Narrative Reviews Ouch, well i'm happy we got to see what we did then!
yeah, was a surprise to see more security things only a month from when you visited.
I was going to go in a few days and hope it would be easy peasy to get in but it looks like alot has changed over the years.

where you exited at 5:22, that fence is down and replaced with new one. Only last month could go in, now, good luck.
+Scared Narrative Reviews ouch.
it's nice to see at least part of this complex being restored, despite its less than happy history. they don't build them like they used to
I did a revisit and a lot more of the buildings have been restored.
I went here the other day there's legit one entrance and you have to climb a like 6 meter pole on a wall and climb through a window
oh, and my Grandmother had also been a doctor at Morisett Mental Hospital, which I know facinates explorers , up in NSW
Interesting. Thanks for watching.

+2JZFIFA no clue sorry i have not been back since this video. :|
+LMCSXurbex damn, that sucks. Bloody cops hey! 100% impossible to get in now without breaking and entering.
It's not the police's fault it's the developers who own it who would have secured it.
2JZFIFA lose weight
I go past this place all of the time when I go to the orthodontist!!!

Why are you scared of being seen in the video it doesn't matter if someone sees you because cops aren't allowed to go in as a safety hazard.
that is the most ridiculous statement ive read

most of the buildings are heritage listed
Last night we tryed to break in by burning down the door, we burned down the morge building
Are you serous? Not a very smart ting to do and especially tell in a public forum.
He's full of shit. There was no morgue at the larundel a year ago.. And only a complete fucking moron would brag about that shit on youtube
