Hyundai i30 N full review: aex.ae/2xugAOP
The Hyundai i30 N isn’t the fastest hot hatchback in a straight line, but that doesn’t stop it from being great to drive. Ex-BMW M boss Albert Biermann has helped construct a terrific chassis and brilliant steering, but the i30 N is also competitively priced - with more quality and equipment inside than most of its rivals. For a first effort, it’s deeply impressive...

about time non-german brands are starting to get recognized. good for you, Hyundai.
mojojojo911 still designed by a German though. Lol
Some of the best Germans building this from both audi and bmw
Johan Söderlund yep, from Audi and BMW. Peter Schreyer and Albert Biermann.
I own one and believe me if i had a unlimited amount of fuel to put in the tank , i would be driving it all day and every day. It is so very much fun to drive and i love mine to bits.
@Dapdoi Ardon i am pretty sure they are 140 per year
The Hyundai I'll ever love
Salute to Al Biermann.
If "most broken roads" look like that in Italy. What does well paved road looks like? That looks super smooth.
this is great little car, and the advantage of being a Hyundai is that it will be in the shop a lot less than any GTI of modern venue from Volkswagon and the warranty 5 yrs unlimited mileage beats any from VW this is why this car will take large bites from GTI sales
great video! perfect review good to see autoexpress upping their game
Cheers Richard - I did work experience with you guys 2 years ago and now working as a reporter in Norwich. Hopefully one day I'll be in your shoes haha cheers - Marc
Cool looking hyundai
Why is this not coming to the US? I own a Elantra Sport at the current moment, but this would be amazing.
I really really hope a 3 door version is coming. And that like curve in the rear bumper is really annoying me. But otherwise I am really pumped about this car
I have a 2018 Elantra GT that I really enjoy driving it's a fun little car. It's comfortable and handles amazing for a base model GT. I could only imagine what an I30 n line would be like putting out almost 300 horsepower. if they imported that car to United States I think it would sell amazingly well.
Hyundai the newcomer HotHatch competitor can't wait for more to Come!!👌
nice car
Would like to see basic vs performance pack tks
Proper little hot hatch !
Please bring to the US!
I'll wait for the auto with paddle shifts :D
I love the conservative design. I've wanted to hate this car since it's inception considering I'm a FiST owner. But this looks like a very nice car. Bravo, Hyundai.
This is one impressive car
This review has nothing but good thing to say about the i30n, just like an ad
Why don't you just admit that this car is the dogs bollocks instead of saying 'quite' all the time.
Not bad for their first go at it, see what N comes up with over the next years. Need to cut weight an improve interior quality to begin with.
Hyundai on 🔥🔥🔥
I wish the hood was bit more aggressive.
Pricing announce for Australia , 202kw performance 39,990 aud , 1k more than a wrx
Nice!
great pricing, I buy :)
this car is a real fast car...is korean quality this is best than a german car
Why so heavy? My 4 wheel drive sti weighs less.
Mate, don't confuse straight line acceleration with "fastest".
Nice car, I will buy this one
Did you buy one ?
Did you get it?
Meanwhile North American isn't getting it.. what a shame!
In America you can buy more powerful car than i30N. Same money more power. Love America :)
Agreed, but more power isn't always the answer. This car will depreciate so quickly that you could pick it up used a year or two later for 25-50% off.
Second hand price will be lower than Germans. But a brand-new is a brand-new. You will be first. But who cares bro? I have 96 328 vert. It has a great condition and give me real driving pleasure :) But this will not change the truth that Hyundai is rising sun around the world.
Veloster N is coming for the soon for all markets- most likely using the same engine as the i30 N (both base and performance pack? Maybe two trim levels). The i30 N is exclusively for Europe.
We are also expecting i20 N for Europe. It should be produced asap..
No sunroof option or i would:(
And new Focus ST is just around the corner which has a sunroof option:)
Terry C it sure what country you are from but there is a sunroof option for the N in Australia
does it come in a automatic configuration??
Reason for wanting an automatic hot hatch?
i dont have my left leg
Automatics are for armchair drivers
Will this car be released in automatic instead of manual in the US?
Get this car tuned and see it pushing over 300bhp.
who love anti-lag system?
you said I30N is different from standard cars, but why ?? why is it better than civic type R?
Zhuang Liu he didn't say it was better than the type R. He was comparing it to it's "regular" version, the i30.
They won't be AUD 30K in Australia....
37k in Australia , cheaper than a wrx
TWO DOORS... ???
I liked the old i30 turbo looks better, though.
Looks like what Americans call the Hyundai Elantra GT. We don't get that engine...
Its kinda hard to believe all of reviewers so far have really good impression. And remember people this is from Hyundai.
In Italy this car 1000 euro of TAX,better the 250 hp
Why light blue?!
Break from the norm
I'm thinking about the peugeot 205 gti
Audi, BMW, Mercedes??? Is he setting the standards that low?
The dogs bollocks this car. Will depreciate like a bastard like all Hyundais so a slightly used one in a year or two will be a bargain. Hyundai has a transferable warranty for 2nd owners so this is a car to wait a bit for and buy nearly new. I will be a buyer in a year or two. Would be even better if we saw an I30N wagon before then to make an even more practical fast small family car.
Matthew Sutton Agreed. Will be interesting to see how much to depreciates in a year from 27k..
Matthew Sutton transferable warranty?
The warranty stays with the car no matter how many owners it had
If it’s within the 5 years it’s within warranty
Adelino Ramalho Not in Belgium it is only valid for the 1st and 2nd owner. Third owner warranty is no longer valid.
Mr Pants exactly my thoughts
You can now get a 2017 (67 Plate) N Performance with 11k on the clock for £22,995.
+1
Throw a few more ponies and some awd under that pretty hatch and Subaru can go eat a fart. I'm getting tired of my stupid STi sedan.
Well done Koreans!
That would be (South) Korea, not Japan!
Everytime i made the same mistake.. haha yeah its Korea.
It sounds like this guy is being payed for this favourable review.
add 10 more k and get yourself rs3 with 400hp
Rs3 starts at 54k, simple math.
hyundai is just coming up in a high performance game, now think about how long audi has been in the performance, but that's why hyundai costs under 40k and audi under 60k.
130 n is 25000 pounds , 20000 pounds less than a rs3
Dont like the color, does the Car no favours, sad to says these Days most hot hatches look the same, simular features, same safety systems with different names, but basically do the same thing, the price is good but it's just not enough nowadays, Focus ST is a better Car,an established successful model for Ford, but this Car looks a bit Ho hum, 6.3/ 6.1secs?...that's about a second of the pace in this sector now,no, too same year really.😢
You should try one
yeah try one , i bought the dark grey looks great and the handling is insane , and the ford focus tried to beat me as rolled next to each other that extra boost i got left him behind
How do you get sports car award for a 4door hatch. I think who ever put this car up needs to go to spec savers
Bearded pukka lip.
Your review is very short with no track footage. You said pretty much all the things other reviewers already pointed out. Also this car SHOULD be and feel different than the standard model, otherwise what's the point? And the fact that this is an all around car? Please, pretty much the same has been said about the Kia Pro Ceed GT, another gti killer. I hold on to the fact that it has 271 bhp and it's not that much faster than a golf gti. I don't think Mercedes, Audi, Bmw, VW or even Honda are bothered or worried about what Hyundai has to offer in the market, even if this car is really that good (or not).
Doe GTI have a strut brace?
Anthony Kelmann Well if you go there no it does not have a strut brace, but on the other hand the i30 n does not have the same interior quality as the golf and is not a better all rounder than the golf. Apart from these facts the Hyundai does not have the same resale value as the golf, does not carry the same brand name, does not do many things better than the golf. And at the end of the day is a Hyundai worth 28.000 pounds or 30.000 euros? I mean the price is not that competitive in comparison to the alternatives. I prefer the new Megane RS, in terms of pure driving. Don't get me wrong, it may be a fantastic car to drive and enjoy but I can't place it in the market right now as an all rounder or give it such high praise, in order to say that Mercedes, Audi or BMW should be worried.
Beg to differ that the i30N won't be a better all rounder. It will do better on road and daily use with more room and bigger boot and be proper on track. The Golf is only decent on roads, but fails horribly on track against any of its competitors. And honostly only people that can't afford the car they are driving and leaselets care about resale value. If you do care, I might reconsider, because Hyundai has all equipment standard that will up the resale value (dual zone automatic climat control, alcantara and electric seats, sat nav, safety features like interurban autobrake, DAA and lane departure warning, etc.). If you want that on a Golf you will have to spend at least 5k EUR extra. Seriously doubt a 7 - 8 year Golf will fetch that much more over a Hyundai past that point and a golf without those option will defenitely fetch less than any car with all those options.
I would say go and test drive the i30N and experience the other side too. Hyundai covers you on the track too! When it is not a competative race.
Golf only advantages is the interior quality feels more upmarket. But for the rest the i30N is overall better choice and better value for your money in my opinion.
Worth 10k in 3 years time.
am I the only one noticing that Mr ex BMW M Boss brought along this hideous babyshitter blue from the M3? They have a very similar(I am sure a slightyly different for proprietary reasons) blue I would never ever buy that was featured on TV as the M3 signature colour....?
Nice. ...but I rather have a GTI.
John Grytbakk you’ll be spending 3k more lol
3k more well spent
John Grytbakk lol, no.
Let him have his german car, he'll get wrecked by one of these
John Grytbakk but the i30N is much more fun to drive tho... And that's the whole point of a hot hatch
Lol sounds like someone reviewing a Golf GTI. Good job Audi. No offence Hyundai, but still just a copy cat car. If China did what you guys did it would flop.
...and a Lambo is a copy of a Ferrari. If it's a Golf copy, al the more reason to toss your VW and take this 'Golf' with a 5 year warranty. You have to love the hate from Golf fanboys on the i30 range. It shows Hyundai is actually doing a really good job in beating VW in their own game.
Ah a very offended Hyundai fanboy. So people who buy VW are fanboys. Just take a fvcking look at how Hyundai's look 7 years ago. People bought the golf gti because of they prefer the subtle but detailed look, the way it drives and the interior, NOT because we hated Hyundais or Mazdas or Toyotas. Only YOU LOSERS MADE THAT SH!T UP!. Well guess what, Hyundais now want to be like that too and they even hired/used ex Audi personnel OMFG!. Say what you want but the truth hurts for you. This is downright copying. Toyota or Mazda do they do that ?????? NO THEY FCKING DON'T!!!
gti80 so you're saying that those ex Audi personell they hired aren't allowed to use the knowledge they used at Audi on hyundai?? It's not copying. Audi doesn't own the rights on the person's design style. Also the engineer of this car is from BMW M. Is he going to change the way he's worked for years just cause he joined a new company?.
gti80 "sounds like someone reviewing a golf." Most arrogant fucking statement. Watch the evo review the guy doesn't even compare it to a golf cause it's that much better.
If you can't take honesty and truth please get lost doucebag.
What an ugly car.
Don't bother going to a Hyundai dealer and expect a price, spec sheet, colour choice or even the dealer to take your details though. They haven't been given any details yet.
