I have a pre-facelift I30N and I love it. Such a fun car to drive and the exhaust sounds so good. I swapped my Cupra 290 for it and it's better in almost every single way than the Cupra! In my opinion it's the best hot hatch on the market right now, closely contended with the GR Yaris.
Good cars, ( I was at the Nth degree experience at Millbrook) but it wouldn't tempt me from my Focus RS or GR Yaris. Fwd can be fun but the dynamics are somewhat one dimensional.
Been waiting for ages for you guys to review the new i30N as I'm planning on getting it or the Kona N next, but was very disappointed that you only got the manual version! The days of old school manual hot hatches are gone - hopefully you get hold of the DCT for a drag race 😎
I had one of the first cars and it was brilliant. Wheel hop or tramping was annoying but if you lower the car and fit Michelin Pilot tyres it reduces it a lot. Hyundai 0 to 60 time was never achieved but got closer than Matt did LOL The car needs 4 wheel drive or better power control. Perhaps its the adaptive dampers and the electric diff fighting for grip when you accelerate off the line ?
Even though the Honda Civic Type R is more powerful than the Hyundai i30 N still I love the Hyundai i30 N because it looks more amazing than the Honda Civic Type R! I would love to buy the insane Hyundai i30 N!
I'm an i20N owner and big part of the reason was the massive increase in the i30's price - in 2018 you could get a new i30N for barely more than I paid for my i20... As good as the new version is, it's not £35k good. And whatever you think of the looks, a Civic Type R (for the same price) is a better hot hatch in almost every way. Fuel economy for the i30N is downright scary, too.... Especially with current prices!
I think the brake test results are the only area where Mat short changes us. Almost all the tested cars brake roughly around the 30 - 33 metre distance and there's no measure used to indicate that they're good or bad. Other than that, always great reviews.
The brake tests are pretty useless anyways as 99% of modern cars are traction limited. So much depends on the road surface, tyre age, tyre temperature, air temperate, tyre temperature, brake temperate and so on. For the test to show any usable data you’d need to control for all of those variables and then do the test multiple times in succession.
With the cost of manufacturing skyrocketing, and the ability to make high horsepower hot hatches, I don’t see any reason why this market shouldn’t see a revival. I sense a second coming of JDM, KDM, and hot hatches in general.
Hey Matt the from rotors are bigger than prefacelift, the 4 slots on the grille are the same as the prefacelift, the exhaust system is bigger by 0.5" and launch it with launch control next time

I absolutely love these and would love to own one (one day before the fuel ban) I think the i30N is one of the best looking hatchbacks on the road !! Saying this I actually rented a car in Poland last year and it was a standard i30 and it was bloody awful to drive lol 😂
Ha yes have driven a standard i30 and it was... interesting! Own an N though and it is totally different.

@@tmeisenmann3285 hi tim. 🙏
The content sometimes is not always interesting, but the presenter always makes it worth watching nice review mat. 👍🏿
I30N maybe good but its still not a car for everyone.
One of the best modern hot hatchbacks you can buy tbh.
Nothing makes you happier than searching a car model and find Matt has already done its review 😢❤
I’ve been waiting AGES for this 🔥🔥🔥
More like 40 years?
70 Plate i30N owner here (Pre Face Lift) - I absolutely love the car and have it in performance blue, my only complaint is that it can't get away from the fuel station
Yeh I always get laughed at by GTI owners. It’s spent most of its life at 28mpg 😅
The automatic version makes this a great daily, it’s even got hooks in the cabin for your groceries - something manufacturers miss in racey cars. Even a net at the boot comes standard, helps when I have eggs in there to keep them from moving if I push the car on the way home.
love your comment.
I owned my 20 shape for 2 years loved every moment of it. So glad I owned the car
From the looks, I already lovin’ it! Korea’s car making evolution is stunning!! Be it the normal passenger cars or the performance oriented cars, Koreans just nail it!! Hyundai and Kia, respect for both of you!! 🇰🇷 #Hyundaii30N #KoreanMiniPowerHouse #GoHyundai
I've bought i30N DCT a few months ago and I'm the happiest man in the world! It's fast enough, very comfy ona motorway (just returned from Croatia- about 1k km in one direction), handling very percise, and THAT LOOK
Actually the i30n has launch control to launch better and yes, I am not talking about the Auto car, but the manual version has it aswell. Would be cool to see what it does with launch control
Always love Hyundai cars, they can be really experimental and fun but remain practical
Not very practical on fuel compared to their competitors though

That is the best sounding 4cylinder engine. no doubt
In my W212 E350 bluetec I used to do 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. After I did a stage 1 tune it produced around 280 bhp as the i30 N and did 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds!
I love this car
68 plate i30n fastback owner here, absolutely adore everything about it and it's great to see more of these on the road
Hi bro.
I have the pre facelift and absolutely love the car. 6 months in and still puts a huge smile on my face when putting it in N mode
I’ve ordered an I 30n DCT performance. I reckon it’s a nice package for a 1 car do it all for the family. Can take my daughter to school, my wife can drive it quite easily, can have a happy face on the track / B roads if I feel so. DCT was a must for us.
Yaris gr has more performance but less practical (only manual)
TypeR the best F/F ( I had a integra TypeR back in ‘99) but not fond of the “Gundam” design.
Gti, S3, R, a35, a45, Rs3 ….balloon towards puffy bank accounts.
the best isnt the type R, Leon Cupra R (L.E)
What do u think of the fl5 type r?
@@tufluxed3293 New CTR maybe the best F/F , design is better than previous model, but still I’m not fond of it. In the meantime I received my N30 DCT.. so happy with my choice. Gear changes are so fast and precise. Handling is great, still haven’t pushed the car, break in period
You driving it reminded me of hamilton bouncing off in baku 🤣
It's actually a great car. Drove from Kent up North so my mate could pick up his white i30N (A1 is a bloody great road). What a blast even watching that car is, being in it makes you behave like a child, it's very confidence inspiring when driving it too.
Usually I find pops&bangs obnoxious as hell, but this car makes it work so well.
Amazing how far Hyundai have come. Basically filling the void that Mitsubishi left us with.
Picking my i30n up on Tuesday 😁

Some magazines archieve 5,8 seconds in 0-100km/h in this I30N and Mat Watson only can do 6,7 seconds in 0-60 mph... he only can do a good launch with an automatic gearbox and launch control! 😂😂
what to expect from uk driver?🤣🤷♂️
Manual i30N also has launch control. Don't know why he didn't used it.
You could always show us *your* unprecedented skills.

Sounds just fantastic, I let out a hoot during the sound test!
Great review
Remember that matt did 0-62 in 6.1s in the i20n
Nice review. I've also noticed you seem to be less frantic in the most recent reviews than you were previously. It's a nice change :-)
less than three minutes in and you can see how utterly excited Matt is to be driving around like a Madman, honestly different tone and body language, much more concentrated on the driving and sticking to the script but feeling the drive through and through. I watch pretty much every review, I am unfortunately at a stage of my life in which I need a much more family oriented sensible car, but boy this gave me big Toyota Yaris GR vibes. Either that or maybe I've been watching too many Lancia Delta Integrale and Subaru Impreza WRC compilations lately 😂
I hear you.... I just sold my 2021 DCT for a Mazda CX5 haha.... Loved it but so not practical at this stage of my life with 2 kids and a wife who was so scared of driving it for fear of scratching or gutter washing a wheel.... Maybe in a few more year in my second mid life crisis...
Well that was long over due, such a great car!

Mat(Carwow) the most expensive Hyundai I30 Fastback for sale in Portugal is the Hyundai I30 Fastback N 2.0 T-GDi with 275hp that costs 33 800€
Should do a fuel test how much it cost to fill up the tank as that's what everyone is interested in
Been waiting for ages for you guys to review the new i30N as I'm planning on getting it or the Kona N next, but was very disappointed that you only got the manual version! The days of old school manual hot hatches are gone - hopefully you get hold of the DCT for a drag race 😎
dct with awd in i30 is my dream

Insane
I'm an i20N owner and big part of the reason was the massive increase in the i30's price - in 2018 you could get a new i30N for barely more than I paid for my i20... As good as the new version is, it's not £35k good. And whatever you think of the looks, a Civic Type R (for the same price) is a better hot hatch in almost every way. Fuel economy for the i30N is downright scary, too.... Especially with current prices!
I absolutely love to own this insane Hyundai i30 N because it looks amazing and the performance is insane!
Does it really look amazing? Really?
Third time you've used insane..
Literally my 🥇 favourite car in the world right now ❤❤❤❤
It's another insane video!

I just wish it had wider arches over the standard i30..
Agree. Mat's launches are also bad in FWD cars, including the FK8 CTR and the previous i30N!
Was looking forward to the dct review
With the cost of manufacturing skyrocketing, and the ability to make high horsepower hot hatches, I don’t see any reason why this market shouldn’t see a revival. I sense a second coming of JDM, KDM, and hot hatches in general.
The GR Corolla is up your alley.
I am soo impressed on how mAt just reviews so many cars without comeplaining about his throat...
Hey Matt the from rotors are bigger than prefacelift, the 4 slots on the grille are the same as the prefacelift, the exhaust system is bigger by 0.5" and launch it with launch control next time
Mat can you drag race a Tesla Model S Plaid against a Lamborghini Ultimae with Yianni?
I have rented the normal I 30 in Poland for 3 months and ... I is a nice car. Much better than the Standar Opel Astra I have now (leasing againg for 7 months and perhaps a little bit more) but not sure it it is better than a León. The Leon ride quality is better. Always speaking about a normal car, not the N or the top of the range. And the I30 was in north of Poland, some road were quite narow and bumpy.
