- All great things in life come to an end, so here's a sad announcement from Hive Division: it's the end of the journey for MGS Philanthropy.

This is UNBELIEVABLE. ...Guys, you have my deepest respect and sympathy.
Insomma, Konami è agghiacciante, un peccatto terribile ed ingiusto nel contesto moderno dei media.
Aspettavo da parecchio questa parte 2, non posso che ribadire la mia gratitudine e solidarietà a queste incredibili persone.
Partiranno con qualcosa di loro su cui nessun altro tranne il pubblico potra' dire nulla. A quel punto, se il progetto ha seguito, sarebbe molto carino chiedere se a Kojima interesserebbe un cameo; tipo la parte di un programmatore nerd che ha lavorato duro su un programma che delle multi nazionali informatiche hanno respinto e che invece i protagonisti useranno per sbloccare la situazione/conflitto in cui si trovano in quel punto dello script. Alla fine al nerd vengono riconosciuti i suoi meriti e lui, giacca cravatta tirato a lucido, si fa fare una bella foto che spedisce ai dirigenti di allora come e-mail/tweet/post trollante. Cosi' in simpatia.

But we're still here for you Hive Division.
Konami has gone too far I remember watching Part 1 as a kid and now I'm an adult looking back on some of the coolest things I had seen from fans of MGS and other video games and I will say from the bottom of my heart I'm sorry for what was done to this project.

This got pulled because they are officially releasing a MGS movie from Konami thus it was the Konami higher ups and officials that terminated this fan made project.
Companies do this to eliminate any expectations certain fan movies will make over the official title and as we know: hype = money (revenue) and if the "hype train" derails, that could spell disaster for the film. They consider stuff like this a pre-caution and I guarantee you short films made in flash art will not be flagged, it's just live action productions that actually looks like some time and money has been spent on it.
Another reason for the plug is because of the production. Some freelance movie makers spend their own money on their production or ask for donations from the community thus expecting some sort of return in revenue, which in itself is illegal since it is not their IP. Imagine someone making money off your own work, or losing potential consumers to another market selling the exact same thing, thus not having your numbers match up in the books and making cuts in the budget etc.
I don't blame Konami for this, it's only right. It's best to start on even ground than a rocky surface, especially since this will be their first official Hollywood licensed movie.

Do they have a release date yet?. Did you ever saw "Firefox" with Clint Eastwood? He looked just like Solid Snake at the beginning of the movie (with the beard and the muscles). Too bad hes really old now. Old Snake maybe a couple of years ago.He was the best actor for the role.
trocoman It's still in development, just like the World of Warcraft movie being in production for years, they can scrap the project all together whenever they want if they feel it's not delivering.
Games crossing over to movies (game movie) have a history of not doing too well (with the exception of animation i.e. Street Fighter 2) live action production films just fail because they are never executed properly. Mortal Kombat JUST about got away with it since it was some what decent and they got the characters right.
***** Nope another studio is but he will be involved in the movie giving guidance and input from what we know so far.
This is really sad. MGS Philanthropy is probably the greatest fan film ever made. Seriously.
I'm legitimately sad part two isn't happening now. :(

It is so sad to lose such a great project. You all have my deepest respect and gratitude for everything that you have done for us, the fans.
There is a bit of a silver lining, however. It may be little consolation, but perhaps you can see that this only happened because you were so good. Big companies only take down the *best* fan-made works. I think it has something to do with the idea that, once you make something so professional that it legitimately rivals the quality of the intellectual property (IP) owners' own work, the IP owners' legal team feels the need to stop it, to prevent the owners from losing their exclusive right to produce such professional content based on that IP.
I am not defending that decision, and I do not like it, but that seems to be the way these things happen.
To Konami: Alright, you have stopped our beloved Hive Division from producing a terrific movie on your IP, which was your right. Now, I ask you: what will *you* produce with it, in place of Philanthropy? Will you give us _your_ artistic vision with a live action movie, made with love by dedicated fans?
To see this project end in this way fills me with.... The Sorrow. Sad.... so sad....
Yet, all good things must end, and so to Philanthropy, if we do not meet again, I say: Requiescat in pace.

I agree that, probably, a product such as MGSP (2 especially) does probably create more concern than the average fan short.
Keep in mind, though, that Konami is just a part of the picture here. There are other parties involved, and it's all that complicated (and pretty recent) situation that caused this. With Part 1, for instance, they let us do it. This time, with the movie being produced and all, there was just no room for a project like ours :(
Hive Division he is right, you know? You are really, REALLY good at this! This is a shame, but also an opportunity! If you ever make an original series, we will watch it ;)

Greetings to all at Hive Division - I was very sad to hear the news that Part 2 could not be authorized. As a longtime fan of the Metal Gear series, I just wanted to congratulate you on a phenomenal film (I saw Part 1 some three years ago now, but keep re-watching it constantly) and to say thank you for bringing the characters we all know and love to the screen in some way, shape or form. I for one, am eternally grateful. Good luck to you guys in the future, I myself will be following with great interest. You've done us proud Hive Division - keep it up :)

I am very saddened that it has come to this, it actually feels quite surreal. But i am happy and very thankful for the first film and all its splendor. At least we had achieved something out of that. I wonder how Kojima feels about all this.....
Damn. I was really, really hoping for more. But there's always part 1, which I will forever have saved to my favorites list, and always will have under my "Badass films" lists. You guys rock. I'm really sorry to hear that your excellent work is being hindered by legal trouble, but you've got a fan here from Philanthropy, and I'll be sticking with you all the way. Hope you guys fight for P2!

Hi guys I am from Chile, I see your movie MGSF1 in 2009 the same year that premiered. Today I remembered you, while talking with a friend about the best fanmade Among his official website after six years and I find this video ( I saw the wonderful short 11 minute MGSF2 , and left stunned )
Just say wholeheartedly that MGSF is fanmade OF THE GAME I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE BETTER .

MGS Philanthropy looks really good as a short film I would definitely like to see more short films like this. Even though part 2 was the last video it still looked really good. I liked it. The cinematography and the effects made the short film very interesting in my opinion. As soon as I saw one of those robots walking around in one of the shots I was immediately drawn into the video. Also cant ignore the lighting as that made the film somewhat dark in its tone as well. Lighting is also really important in film. The story was really good as well. Whoever made these short films good job and keep up the good work. I always wanted to produce a short film like this back when I was Multimedia at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology but of course at school you are sometimes limited cause of time and of course the content has to be school appropriate. I worked on a lot of animations and graphics with the use of Photoshop and After Effects and at one point one of those animations got a lot of attention. Art was a natural talent of mine and that artistic ability was the reason why I jumped in Multimedia. I was really interested in film and visual effects and thats something I would really like to do as a career in the future.
All I have got to say is that was an awesome short film.
I just discovered MGS Philanthropy, I just finished Part 1 and to see that Konami has barred you from making Part 2 is really sad. However you guys did really good on Part 1 and should be very proud of yourselves. I'll definitely check out your other work.

This should have become a licensed tv series. The quality of production and attention to detail in these videos surpasses a lot of series we see on tv today. Job well done guys, you can be proud of what you have created.

Duuuude im so heartbroken now :( I was looking forward to part 2 after just seeing that it was out then I see THIS. Maaaan im gonna fuckin cry now. I love the MGS series and being a somewhat amateur film-maker/writer(locally) I also support this series and wish I could have been a part of it. This blows but you know what, you still got my attention, subscribed a million times over for you and I love the voice over bloopers for part 1, I always laugh at that lol TO THE MALL!
Oh Kojima this was an awesome live action project on MGS. Damn the licensing issue. Reminds me of MG remake, that was going to be fan made as well it was stopped on product. Either way you guys created a gem here, this is one of the more serious toned live action MGS and accurate to the franchise. Hope Konami will have you guys make another MGS vid in the future.
I have to say, the production value of most of your films in general are completely breath-taking and I had not a single clue a story of the type could be so engaging. I extremely enjoy your channel and you can gladly call me a dedicated fan to your work.

This was so brilliantly made, it's sad and disappointing that this is being cut short. When I finished watching the first part of the fan-movie it had left me wanting to see more of it. CG work was pretty well done as well as the acting.

That's so sad ..., I really was waiting for part 2 since part 1 was released. Even the 12 minutes demo preview was really awesome and I was so curious to see what will happen and wanted some answers to all the questions I had during the first part.
I have to say everyone of you did an amazing work. I feel really sorry for you, that you can't finish your MGS Masterpiece.

Man, this feels like a cheap shot to the groin. Can't believe Konami pulled the plug on you guys. To this day I still think MGS Philanthropy Part 1 is the best fan made movie. I've always said it sets the standard whenever friends and I talked about it.
Was looking forward to Philanthropy Pt.2 . . .Been such a long time. Was nice to see some returning faces as well. But now, sad. . .So sad.
The beginning looked and felt like MGS5. And this time around you got PAUL EIDING even?!?!?! Wow!

This really is a sad state of affairs. I apologize that this had to happen, as I along with the rest of the fanbase was really looking forward to how the story could have ended.

Since I followed you guys since 2003. ( or whenever it was Philanthropy started. )
I've been a fan of mgs since it first hit original Playstation when I was in middle school. After I played that game I dreamt of mgs having a live action movie production and Hive Division made that dream come true. So, thank to Hive Division for giving not just myself but every die hard mgs fan a true metal gear solid movie that was absolutely amazing. What you guys did was absolutely incredible and the mgs fan community will be forever grateful for such an amazing contribution to what we love, Metal Gear Solid and Solid Snake's adventures. Thank you, you guys are amazing.

i have lost a bit of respect for Konami after hearing about this and the MGS1 remake being shut down. its basically a spit in the face to the dedicated and loyal fans of the franchise. i understand that there are a lot of legal technicalities that prevent some content from being produced, but its still bullshit... the MGS fans are part of the reason why Konami still exists in some ways, and they go and take something away from the fans just because they cant make money from it..... its beyond tragic. i hope one day they will wake up and realize that the fans are more important than making a quick buck.

Giacomo, your Solid snake needs to have his hair backwards, this is only my point of view, but if you change the hair to mullet style youll get a more accurate snake.

I know this is probably too late, but I know a guy that could help MGS:Philantrophy happen.
His name is Adi Shankar, he is the man behind the Punisher: Dirty Laundry fanfilm, Spider-Man's "The Truth in Journalism" Eddie Brock fanfilm as well as official movies such as the Judge Dredd adaption and the Taken film series.
There's also another person, though I believe he's more difficult to rech in contact; Avi Arad, he's the man behind the Sony Spider-Man movies and has been on the creative involvement of many game-movie adaptations, namely, you guessed it, Metal Gear Solid (He was also the reason behind Kiefer Sutherland being the new voice of Snake).

Well, if you already had the talk with some executives, I'm not sure there's much I could do. I meant more like getting you in touch with them with a little insider backing.
But yeah, after playing the phantom pain it's very evident that the game is practically unfinished. I honestly didn't even know the game had ended before I googled it.
I really like your work, though, and I hope you continue to do this amazing work, it's bound to end up in a big way.
Absolutely perfect cinematography, excellent acting and a supremely loyal adaptation to the original. I'd love to see you do it with other games.
Ever thought about maybe doing Dark Souls or Fallout? Or even Mass Effect, though that would probably be expensive to make.
I'd love to hear about any upcoming plans. Absolutely love what you did here.

I really hope you guys get authorized!!! Metal Gear was the first action game I ever played, and the game that actually got me into video games. When I MGSP and watched it, it was like I was reliving my childhood. Hive Division you guys defiantly have a new fan here, you guys are awesome!
