Clearly, I have had a lot of life over those years but I will never forget first seeing the seven sisters, Orions' nebula, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn with their visible moons and of course Andromeda. I could go on but just to say it's wonderful that Damon is as inspired as I was as a youngster and is pursuing his dreams, with all the knew tools available. With his engaging presentation skills, I wonder if we have the next Brian Cox here? I live in an area with a lot of light pollution. But I think I will unpack my telescope and see what I can in 2021. Hello Damon, I am an 11 year old who adores space and I want to be an astronomer when I grow up and your video is just so well done and mind blowing. This video is inspiring me to follow my dream no matter what I have. keep up the great work.
Man how I wish videos like these existed when I grew up. When I was a kid I always wanted to be an astronomer but the lack of easily available visual content about it made me slowly forget my dream and kill that passion in me cause other things in life distracted me. Now I'm grown up with a completely different path in life as a game designer with astronomy as a passion that I never explored other than watching content about it every single day since content on it became available on platforms like RUclips. Keep remembering your dream and pursue it! I'm rooting for you to become an astronomer.

In just under 15 mins, you explained by showing us what Nebula, Supernova, Galaxies are.... something which I have read about many times, but seeing it and experiencing it through your narration is inspiring. It is my dream to retire back to my village in future and observe the stars....with zero light pollution. So thank you for showing the way

Great video Damon! You really did a great job describing the emotions that every astronomer or astrophotographer experience, by looking and understanding the nightsky, and it's wonders. I'm an amateur astriphotographer from Lima, Perú. 8 years ago, I bought my first telescope. It was a Celestron Nexstar 6. I have to say that I was immediatly, Impressed by your enthusiasm, and Passion of the subject as well as the presentation etc of it all. I loved how well you explained things, which im sure will inspire younger Budding Astronomers of the future. I liked it that you explained it all, without all the Fancy, often Silly Imagery and Gimmiks, also No Loud overpowering Music where you often cannot even hear whats being said. So thank you for just keeping it simple, Please Please Please keep it just as it is Simple, Explanatory and Educational. This video just made me realize that we are eternally experiencing the near-past and that as far as our senses go there is no present . Light and sound all take time to reach our eyes and ears . Thoughts take time to form, smells take time to register, etc . So we can never experience the present although we exist fully in it . Another irony of the universe .
Fun fact, its totally possible that we are seeing the universe in real time. We have only ever measured the two way speed of light. In Special Relativity Einstein states that the speed of light could be instaneous in one direction and any variation of velocity in the opposing direction without breaking physics :) if we bounce a light off of mars and it takes 20 minutes to get back to us. We have no idea if it took 10 minutes in both directions, or 19 mins there then 1 minute back.... It could literally be anything. We only assume its even in both directions because its easier for us to comprehend that logic.
Amazing video Damon! The amount of editing I can see is just so unpredictable I learnt some new things and how do you find these amazing sights? I’ve always been obsessed with science and space, this just made me more obsessed with it! If you bought a really good telescope where would it be because this persuaded me to buy a telescope. I’m asking you because your amazing at finding things.
Firstly, I can't thank you enough for the actual images, shown so realistically and second for ending my search. I've seen so many videos trying to visualize what I could see with a telescope. Not one of the 100s of content out there, showed an exact picture and I'm thankful once again for that. I share the same passion or maybe more, for astronomy. Keep gazing mate.
My friend and I talked about space, galaxies, stars and the likes a few hours ago. I thought how wonderful would it be to see it up close through a telescope. I'm so glad I found your video. the feeling of wanting to do something new and exciting just hit me. You have explained everything clearly. Hope to see more videos of you. What can you recommend for me to start with? I never even owned a binocular before.
It's amazing how you can see the night sky with the naked eye. As someone who lives in a very light populated country with tropical weather, such a sight is a dream. When I see pictures of the night sky, I feel like it's unbelievable. I've always been wondering about how real are the pictures or videos people show. The best way to compare is if someone takes a video with their phone, since I have a phone too, so I can compare the difference.
“You don’t need to spend enormous amounts of money.” That is of course not including the money I have to spend to change my house to somewhere without light pollution 😢

This youngster is actually an excellent, interesting teacher. Newly retired I just bgought my 1st scope used and can't wait to figure out some of it's complexities. Really a good job here.
@@CooManTunes yea I stopped enjoying it, I told my family how interesting space was and how much I’m into it. Then they just didn’t stop talking about it, showing me videos buying me all this weird stuff. They just brought me out of it
Damon Scotting, remeber that name. There are plenty of channels offering amasing photos, descriptions and explanations of our night sky but Damon lends a special kind of accessability to and relevance of astronomy. Thanks Damon.
still cant get my head round the fact we could see the after glow of the big bang when we were still there when it happened, not here waiting for it to happen?
This video has inspired me to take up astrophotography again, last time I was so frustrated with my scope since I couldn't get it to align properly, thus I couldn't take any photos. I got some new things that I have yet to try so I'm waiting for the weather to clear up before I get to work! Awesome video.
Wow, this was perfectly edited. Really nice how you put it all together and the way you made pretty complex subjects, easy to comprehend. Will use parts of this in education for my students. Regards from science teacher in primary school. ..
Thanks for this video, man! I have been attempting to find a good scope for a couple years, but have never pulled the trigger on getting one simply because I didn’t know just how well I’d see anything. I knew it wouldn’t be anything like Hubble, but didn’t want to end up only being able to see craters on the moon. Thanks again!
thanks you so much for this video man. i am an amateur of astronomy but seeing your passion for it is truly amazing and makes so happy to know all of this
It feels so good to learn and have things broken down so well. I have bad ADD and this was so engaging for me and I learned so much about the process of the photography of stars and systems. I always wondered. I definitely would love to go back to school and study this
A round of applause. Thank you sir! I must say, with all due respect to Neil De Grasse Tyson, I get tired of Neil's love of himself and his rock star status. Neil is a nice guy who simply loves the spotlight. But Damon, I enjoy this video because you are out to help the novice and educate the uninitiated into Astronomy. I look forward to watching more of your videos. I think you will do your best work and attract the most interest because you simply enjoy Astronomy. Thank you.
I can’t thank you enough for this video. Well done and very much appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and in the language very easy to understand.
Lovely video! Your presentation is crisp, interesting and inspirational. I also realise how patient one must be to be chasing these millions of tiny dots of light out in the cold! All this cosmic grandeur makes one very humble. Thanks again for your informational video!

I'm thankful to this fabulous boy who discovered the idea of travelling and measuring up distances by time to me. So, the next conclusion should naturally be ... not buying a personal instrument or tool, but rather finding and contacting an observatory, and getting over there physically or virtually through buying your time of observations via the internet. Thank you once again.
I just want to mention that you can buy a pre-owned version of the Canon 1000d camera I used in this video for as little as $100. 📷 But please be aware that there are plenty of cameras that have much better imaging capabilities than the Canon 1000d, it just so happened to be the only camera I had at the time so I spent a lot of time imaging with it, there really isn't anything special about it! 😅 If you want to see what a real special camera looks like, then check out the SONY A7S ii, this is the camera I have used to film 95% of Astronomical, it has amazing low light capabilities. 😁👍
Don't know what u mean, but it looks like its technical. The most proud photo I took is with my old Samsung j3. It was a picture of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn near each other.

What can you recommend for me to start with? I never even owned a binocular before.
hi
It's amazing how you can see the night sky with the naked eye. As someone who lives in a very light populated country with tropical weather, such a sight is a dream. When I see pictures of the night sky, I feel like it's unbelievable. I've always been wondering about how real are the pictures or videos people show. The best way to compare is if someone takes a video with their phone, since I have a phone too, so I can compare the difference.
Woohoo waiting for the video
yeah
Yaah
Great vlog. Astronomy is so interesting and yes it’s so hard to comprehend the time and distance of objects in our universe. Mind boggles 🤯
i was on a mountain (2800 metres high) and did some star photography. It was so amazing to see the milky way with my own eyes..
we could potentially be taking photos of entire civilisations but we would never know because the resolution is horrid. love this content so much!
“You don’t need to spend enormous amounts of money.”
That is of course not including the money I have to spend to change my house to somewhere without light pollution 😢
You mean humans
get an air bnb for 2 nights somewhere quiet when you know something good is gonna happen and you wont see it in your city
Make hand binoculars.
@@bobzombie2710 lol what?
Do you not have a car…
12:27 that's just so incredibly beautiful
Largest scopes I have ready access to are 12" in aperture, LX200 and a Skywatcher Dobsonian.
Amazing stuff out there.
I love the view of a true starry night🌌..it feels ethereal.. 💜
Sadly, I live in a city (Seoul)which is shrouded in light...😔
Anyways, I always have stars here..😇😇
The hard work you put in shooting and editing is incredible!!❤❤❤
Tbh every city's shrouded in light.. I live in (New) Mumbai and here I can't even see starts clearly.. due to pollution tho
@Ale+X great! I just shifted to Mars.. just relaxing now

This Video is Really inspiring! I'm a 17 year old Astrophotographer myself! Loved the Video! Space Never ceases to fascinate me!
I love how passionate you are 😊
This youngster is actually an excellent, interesting teacher. Newly retired I just bgought my 1st scope used and can't wait to figure out some of it's complexities. Really a good job here.
Thank you! 😊
this channel is one of the best ive ever seen 🤩
This guy needs to be my science teacher. Then I would actually enjoy space again.
You stopped enjoying space??? What a stupid statement.
@@CooManTunes yea I stopped enjoying it, I told my family how interesting space was and how much I’m into it. Then they just didn’t stop talking about it, showing me videos buying me all this weird stuff. They just brought me out of it
6:00 seeing that made my heart skip a beat. Seriously so beautiful and terrifying
Damon Scotting, remeber that name. There are plenty of channels offering amasing photos, descriptions and explanations of our night sky but Damon lends a special kind of accessability to and relevance of astronomy.
Thanks Damon.
Congrats for the astronomy photography of the year award :)
the fact that he said the new telescope there building could see the afterglow of the big bang is actually insane!
still cant get my head round the fact we could see the after glow of the big bang when we were still there when it happened, not here waiting for it to happen?
This video has inspired me to take up astrophotography again, last time I was so frustrated with my scope since I couldn't get it to align properly, thus I couldn't take any photos. I got some new things that I have yet to try so I'm waiting for the weather to clear up before I get to work! Awesome video.
💪🏾Your Channel will now grow substantially💪🏾
Wow, this was perfectly edited. Really nice how you put it all together and the way you made pretty complex subjects, easy to comprehend. Will use parts of this in education for my students.
Regards from science teacher in primary school. ..
This video is one of the best videos I've ever seen, this taught me a lot about astrophotography!
Hey man, keep up the good work! Love the mysteries of the universe, the vast deep endlessness, sends the mind into overdrive!
Thank you.
But Neil De Grasse Tyson is an astrophysicist.... lol astrophotography isnt even a science. I get what you mean though
Thank you! 😊
I cannot possibly state how truly awesome this is. It's awesome! Amazing! Crazy! Phenomenal! Educational! Insane! Wait, wait, no. This is truly....

Bro keep it going You are very very passionate
I have never been this early
More than anything else I love how passionate you are about astronomy! ❤️
0:21 just love how ppl anyhow uses gardens by the bay pics
This video is just simply beautiful
Sir, once in my life I had a dream to see this universe through a telescope but I could not buy such a big telescope. The universe remains a dream.
I’ve just seen this in my recommended. This was a really informative and very well executed video. Beautifully explained. I’ve just subscribed
Thank you! 😊
I just want to mention that you can buy a pre-owned version of the Canon 1000d camera I used in this video for as little as $100. 📷
But please be aware that there are plenty of cameras that have much better imaging capabilities than the Canon 1000d, it just so happened to be the only camera I had at the time so I spent a lot of time imaging with it, there really isn't anything special about it!
😅
If you want to see what a real special camera looks like, then check out the SONY A7S ii, this is the camera I have used to film 95% of Astronomical, it has amazing low light capabilities. 😁👍
Don't know what u mean, but it looks like its technical. The most proud photo I took is with my old Samsung j3. It was a picture of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn near each other.
@@dilipadithya They seemed to be little dots in the great dark viscinty of space I think so !!

Very interesting viewing with a great presenter too.
I gave my daughters this to watch last evening. I am impressed how he can teach so well.

Im always hoping I capture a ufo with a time lapse 😁😁😁
This video teached me something school failed to do for couple of years. Thank you for showing this.

Hey Damon, thanks so much for your clarifying explanation of scale as it relates to the universe. It is one of the most difficult, and most important concepts to grasp. Cheers🙂
Thank you! 😊
This channel is gold for amateur astronomers

This is truly amazing and it showes how Earth is truly special being only flat planet in universe.
Flat?🤡
That explains why I fell off the earth on my fishing trip 🤦♂️
i like how you slow down the speech a bit. thats much appreciated. im trying to imagine these things you are explaining, other channels go so fast its hard to comprehend sometimes
How far away is betelgeuse? There seems to be no definitive number, the last updated distance i found is 548 ly. Are all other distances for stars just rough guesswork or can we accurately determine distance?
