  • The 2021 Jeep Compass sits in a strange place in the market. It's larger than a lot of its direct competitors, but smaller than some vehicles in the class above. The new Compass is miles ahead of the previous generation, but does that make it a new SUV worth considering? Paul Maric finds out!

    Back on December 28, 2021 I help my wife buy this jeep compass altitude and after driving it here in Puerto Rico, guess the climate is warmer than others places, the front suspension started making metalic noise, like an old car. We took it back and the told us it's the grease in the rack and pinion its some other type for the climate other mechanic said it did not have sufficient grease in it....you should test it more before giving it a rating. Right now I give it a 7 for looks and a 3 for mechanics. If have to buy another one I will go, a different route and don't look back...

    There are several videos showing even the Latitute model can do off road and you don’t have to have a trail hawk to go off-road. I was amazed at where it could go and no it’s not the courses a Wrangler could do but google Jeep Comapss Latitude off road videos and see fro yourself. Plus a 2 inch lift kit will give you more than enough clearance to go off road on more challenging courses.

    Fair enough assessment. I think it sells well in the US because it resembles a Grand Cherokee. Most reviews I’ve watched seem to say the say thing, which is it’s basically a competent vehicle but nothing special. And not very efficient.

    We purchased this car new in September 22 and it has been a lemon from the start. Airbags didn't work in bad car accident. We were hit at Approx. 70-80kmh hour whilst stationary at road on Hastings River rd Port Macquarie. My wife and I sustained injuries with chronic whiplash and other muscular and joint damage.
    Additional issues, one being in the first 2weeks of owning this new Jeep Compass limited the paint was peeling off the front bumper bar, the touch screen was faulty, with maps constantly dropping out, app menu freezing and the car was getting increasingly harder to start.
    I would not recommend a Jeep to anyone as to book in for a service with local Port Macquarie dealer takes about 6 weeks.
    We purchased a new Sportage GT Line Turbo diesel instead, a much better car

      @@Msalove08 All (and I do mean ALL) of the computer modules stopped communication with the main ECU. The Jeep dies then locks the e brake, even when you are moving (ie in traffic) and starts throwing error messages on the center screen about everything from ABS, traction control, cruise, Lane depature, etc etc etc. Got towed to dealership, (two different ones) that could not replicate the problem, but when the code reader was hooked up the vehicle threw up to 100 separate codes. They would drive it, re flash the Ecu, and call it good, charging us up to 500 dollars at a shot for essentially nothing, because the problem would reoccur within another 200 miles of driving it.

    Jeep has increased their quality tremendously since 2019. They have climbed in the quality ranking by J.D.Power from last year to 2020. Dodge (also a Chrysler brand) is ranked No. 1 in reliability this year by J.D.Powers. Chrysler is very eager to turn their quality issues around and they have delivered, according to the JD.Power car quality report. They are highly focused on becoming- (and developing the reputation of) a top quality, car manufacturing company. Time will tell if they can keep up their latest quality improvements.

  • @geoffk777
    @geoffk777 3 года назад

    The Compass is actually based on a Fiat 500 platform, and reliability is what you'd expect from a combination of Chrysler and Fiat. If you really want a Jeep, than a Wrangler is a real Jeep that's much better off road and about the same money. If you want a more conventional SUV, than a Toyota or Mazda is more reliable and better engineered and built. I wouldn't buy one of these.

    • @geoffk777
      @geoffk777 3 года назад

      @Carlos Daniel Da Silva Schaper It's on a slightly stretched version of the exact same platform that's used for the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500 XL. I stand by my original comments.

    • @geoffk777

      @Carlos Daniel Da Silva Schaper Whether the internal name is changed or not makes no difference. Mechanically, It's still a Fiat.
