Price Tag - Hefty, Reliability - Not great, After Sales - Expensive, Sensible - NO, IS IT WORTH IT - YES Compass exudes pure love for driving. The feeling you get when you just hold the keys in your hand is amazing. This is pure bliss and can't be explained.
I own 2019 compass limited edition Diesel 2.0. It’s a beast, ride quality and handling and the car is a joy to ride. Except yearly service I haven’t faced any issues till date..
I own 5 th Anniversary Edition 4x4 Diesel and simply love each and every ride … it’s a drivers car. And Compass owner don’t care what others think of it.. ❤ After Polo and Punto this is best drivers car…
If you are money-minded, American and German products are not for you, go buy Asian products, come to this side only if you have a hunger for precision and performance.
Driving the compass for past 3 years. Have bagged 50k+ kms. Its an absolute beauty. Best highway ride i have ever experienced. Service for me has been really good so far. No complaints
Many people are complaining about the pauses and pace in the speech of the Kartikeya Sir, however, that's an identity marker of the Motorinc, especially Motorinc View and that's how it differentiates from Motorinc First. As a linguist, I can't really explain how important those pauses are, how it has certain kind of effect on the listner / viewer in this case. The content feels something not from the herd of sheep. Keep up the good work Motorinc.
I have been driving the Compass 4x4 S now for almost 3 years and had got it just after its mid life update. Over these 3 years (almost 50k) I have taken it to the most remotest of places in the country and some of the most challenging off roads as well. The advice from friends and people in general after seeing the car and proposition of doing these routes is of apprehension- “luxury car hai, kharab ho jayegi” but trust me, this SUV is so real that it can move mountains on a Sunday and then when you go back to your metropolitan life on Monday, is one of the smartest and most comfortable cars in any corporate car parks. Long highway rides are simply DNA for this vehicle and rarely have I felt any fatigue on my regular by monthly run to my hometown 650kms away. Truly outstanding. It’s a lot of money but it’s for that quality and safety. I have the green colour and I call it a tank, it probably is one. 😊 Places visited- Laddakh, Nelong, Manali, Munsiyari, Kashmir, Chitkul, Darma, Binsar, Spiti, Harshil, Chanshal, Sankri, etc etc etc
Not always.. there are situations where the off roadability is challenged like any suv( have seem few cases). Reliability is inconsistent. No doubt its a good buy if someone knows about cars technically for all others hyundais and kias will do the job.
THE VERY FIRST CHANNEL WHO MENTIONED "Independent Rear Suspension"! Kudos to that alone guys. I am so proud of you guys for this style of presentation.
Bought a Compass in 2022. I fall in love with the car every time I get behind the wheel. It's heavy on the wallet to run since I have a Petrol model and the service is expensive, but boy oh boy, it's worth every penny. Driving it on the highway instantly puts a grin on my face and honestly, it's not bad in the city. This is probably the best driving experience a compact SUV can offer south of Q3 / X1.
Perhaps manufacturers should option expensive features such as ADAS and sunroofs. Consumers should have a choice of opting out. It’s irritating how these features are shoved down your throat every time you want to buy a top of the line vehicle. In that sense, the compass is a gemstone. ☺️
But then we have reviewers complain about number of variants. TLDR - You cannot satisfy anyone and companies should abandon variant system altogether and go for car configurator model Kudos Tata for offering choice of Sunroof and ADAS separately
Honestly.. Indian road does not need either ... Sun roof is not ideal for Indian weather .... and ADAS needs lanes + disciplined driving which is not present ... Compass offers much better needed features ... with 50+ safety features ... it is a more sensible car to buy ..
No one opts for them. Non-abs, non-air bag versions were selling more than the ones with them, untill they are made compulsory. I think out of all ADAS features lane departure warning, emergency braking are the only ones needed.
After 1year 7 mm ontha of ownership of a model S and having clocked 60000 kms .. so far no real issues with the service or the vehicle.. loving every moment of this awesome vehicle
This is the most alluring automobile review I've ever heard ❤ Jeep life is the sweet life. No words can describe it. Let me still try... Jeep represents more than just a mode of transportation-it's a lifestyle, a symbol of independence, and a testament to the spirit of adventure. With it's iconic design, legendary capability, and enduring legacy, Jeep continues to inspire. Rugged yet stylish exterior, generous ground clearance, well appointed cabin with comfortable seating, high quality materials, touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, and the rest are physical buttons (easy to operate). What more could an enthusiast ask for? It's worth every penny. Though it has it's cons too, but everything can be ignored when you LOVE someone. I am living the Jeep life. Cheers!!
1.i was eagerly waiting for The compass to be reviewed by Motorinc. 2.Have been driving the compass since 4 years now, no complaints at all but yes definitely they can open up more service centers with faster response!! What a beauty it is to drive.
@@RAXITH_playz 1st 3 years were free anyways and they did cover it really well. All expenses paid. The 4th service was a major one with recommended changes costed me 24k and after that it's been really really naiiiceee. I did 45k so far, the Firestones need to be changed.
We own the facelift compass. It has been an absolutely amazing experience for the past 3 years. I’ve done 12 hour drives to my native place so many times on it. It is a perfect highway cruiser. Even took it mild off-road, walks through it with ease. In terms of service it’s been a mixed experience. Basic maintenance and scheduled services are a breeze. But if any specific work is there then first it is a little on the expensive side and secondly it took some time to get the car back. Coming from the old fortuner the service part was something that felt inferior for sure. But all in all a must try if anyone is looking in this price range and travels long frequently.
In my ownership of my 2019 compass limited plus 4x4 diesel manual, the extended warranty has been the true MVP. The car requires frequent maintenance and maintenance is (very) expensive. Parts are expensive, wait times are long, and the labour is expensive-er still. It's a high quality product which rewards the keen driver, highlights the ignorant and complacent ones. You have to pay attention. There are rattles from the panaromic sunroof and the dashboard. The car is surprisingly competent in mud and sand. The sharp 18" alloys are eye-catching but limits AT tire options. Not the most easy in the city. The clutch is heavy and can catch new drivers with its engagement. Solid package for luxury seeking adventurous people.
I still remember when i heard when Compass was launched. The face of American Giant and the quality and pricing backing its proposition as well. This led to bigger manufacturers into the marketing campaign likes of Vocal for Local. It really was a time then whereas now its just who has the biggest car in the sub 20 lakh budget. But the smuggness of drivers in Compass is bang on. I have never seen a non smug compass driver ever. Awesome job MotorInc Team.
Trust me compass didn’t do that much. It’s a great car but perfect for people who suck up to anything that’s American. No big manufacturers were running vocal for local campaigns. I would love for you to show me those campaigns. Chrysler is known for its worst reliability and keep this compass has worst resale value. I bought this brand new for 36k and had to sell it for 20k in just two years. It’s a shit box that’s drives amazing.
I have a ‘22, so no turbo. And that’s what i was saying about mine, not much for city driving, and more for the outdoors. I live in Canada, and i love this car in the winter. Driving through a snow storm is something else. Also, no problems at all, maybe I’m just lucky, but hopefully it can stay that way. But Jeep has been proving to me that I made a good choice.
I own a 2022 Compass Petrol Limited (O). And yes, it is pricey. We were considering other options like the Kushaq and Seltos and it was a big jump in price in comparison. But we looked at it this way. My family owns and uses each car for 8-10 years at least. Over those 10 years, the price difference seems less of a burden. And we get a better built, better quality and overall better feeling car for those 10 years. As for the service, we have been Fiat owners for the past 12 years, and we were lucky enough to have a friendly, prompt service centre close to our home. So the service experience has been quick and hassle free, a bit pricey though. If you have a good service centre near your home, you're gold. If not, may god give you the patience of finding and dealing with one. This has been the case with all Fiat / Jeep products though. Great products, but anything after the initial purchase has been a gamble.
Drive it to feel it… 7yrs of ownership….safety, ruggedness, confidence n many small things which only 60L+ cars do have. Had a break failure as the vacuum hose pipe was damaged due to rat bite n still could able to bring the vehicle under control that’s the difference what I am talking about. No brand in India is 100% perfect.
I’ve got compass model S 4X4, since march 2023 and have driven 30K kms already 90%on highways. Yes, the cost to maintain it is comparatively expensive, but the comfort and confidence it gives is completely worth. Your review is accurate and relatable. Thanks for reviewing JC and giving the due respect.
That red looks stunning. A proud compass 2023 owner, it’s a tank of a car. Absolute pleasure to drive. The 1.4 Turbo Petrol does at time feels a little laggy but that’s the best you can get from a brand like Jeep in a highly regularised market of India. The new alloys look stunning too.
I am owner of Jeep Compass 4x4 and I can vouch for every word that is said in this video! You can enjoy compass only after you embrace its imperfections!
I waited and waited for Jeep review but it didn’t happen on Motor Inc and just when I got myself a Meridian last month, it happens! Thankfully I got it for touring and that stands validated, Thanks Karthik for showering your attention to Jeep finally.
Thanks Kartikeya! Your channel is the best thing that has happened to me who has been looking at various car reviews from past 2 years! Wish you and Shumi continued success
Great review. All relevant facets are well covered. I have been driving my 6.5 years old diesel JC for more than 1.07lakh km. Mostly highway driving. Fuel efficiency is 17-18 kmpl when you drive within speeds of 80-110 kmph. Pricing was attractive when it was launched. When you drive a Jeep, it's not about the destination. It's about the journey. Absolutely love driving this beast. No complaints at all. The vehicle feels as good as new even now!!
After ownership of the manual compass for 7 years, I'm seriously considering replacing it with a new auto compass , its such a great vehicle a must own for someone who loves to drive.
Driving a Compass Petrol since 2019 and I agree with the views of MotorInc. Is it Expensive? Very. Is it Reliable? No. Is the Customer Service Experience Good? As far as I can speak for Landmark Jeep based in Delhi, HELL NO. But is it damn good to drive? HELL YEAH. And that pretty much sums the Compass. To anyone buying it, if you take your car out on the highways often, this is the car for you. For everyone else, there are other options in the market they can explore. Thanks MotorInc for this amazing video, Cheers. And Eid Mubarak to you guys.
Been driving A 2.0 Diesel for little over past 2 yrs. An MT. And by far the most stable and fun drivers SUV on Indian Highways. So So much fun to take it to my hometown back in Delhi and Jaipur from Banglore. And so many times, with the entire family. 2 adults and 2 dogs. They all love it. More over, she has gone to happy trails to Sikkim, entire circuit, and Leh. And she is the only Compass in India which was driven to Leh Circuit with only a human and a dog companion. No fuss, no drama. Ate the Himalayan terrain like it’s a routine course. Complete blogs there on Team BHP. And mine isn’t even a 4x4. The capabilities of 4x2 are beyond what one will use for 95% of their lifetime. If you are a highway muncher.. and love getting out this is the best car you will thoroughly enjoy. Costly, yes, spares and services costly, may be. Satisfaction index… a 100%, highway mannerism, top notch. And for the city too, the reason to pick this against the bigger fortunes and endeavours is the more manageable size. I do city commute too and she’s much manageable there too. So in my span of 2 yrs and so, my 2.0 MT D had been a peach. And many more long distances to cover. Don’t think too much… just Get Out !! 😂
Having owned the Fiat Palio and then the Linea T jet , we had almost decided to buy the Jeep Compass . However the 2024 version didn’t appeal as we thought some cost cutting done and the quite pricey. Still it was on our list until we test drove the Taigun GT+. The DSG and the overall design coupled with product knowledge of VW team changed our decision in favour of Taigun GT +. Since the Fiat days I notice that the sales team aren’t selling the car aggressively by showcasing the features and not at all eager to convince the buyer.
Best SUV without a doubt but in 2017 a top end compass came at 25 lakh on road, today the same SUV with the same engine costs 40 lakhs on road. It has gone to next segment the 40 lakhs mid size suv which has few takers. Moreover competition has really improved with Cars like Tata Harrier , Safari , XUV , ScorpioN, Seltos offering everything for a variety of buyers. Pricing along with that rear bench are the only reasons we see so few of these on road, but when you see one in red with a black roof it still puts a smile on your face.❤It.
It’s always astounded me how the compass went from 14L ex showroom to almost twice that in a few years. Is that why we’re seeing fewer of them on road?
I own 2023 , S Model Diesel , Manual , it’s a beast of a car , the confidence which it gives to drive is immaculate and the power is so crazy you won’t notice that you are over speeding and interiors are classy , I had shortlisted harrier too but their interiors and materials in the cabin didn’t satisfy me , with independent suspension ride takes can take a nap like baby on the bad roads as well , I’m a happy customer since 2 years 😊
Even if people complaint about Kartik pausing often its much more therapeutic and actually it feels really nice to watch such contents. I love your work kartik, Shumi and motorinc. i hope you continue to keep providing such good content :)
What a beautifully shot video. Presentation and the information shared are topnotch as always. This made my day as a Compass owner and I wholeheartedly agree to all the positives and negatives shared. I bought my Compass MT back in 2021 when the face-lift was announced. XUV 700 wasn't launched back then and he only other cars I had considered were Harrier and Tucson (pre face lift). One long test drive is all it took for me to fall in love. I knew I what I was getting into. Car is an emotion for lot of us and Compass may not be "value for money" but it'll keep you happy for a decade. You'll be smiling even on days where you have covered a thousand kilometres. I know design is a personal preference but I feel design of the Compass is timeless and classy and will not feel outdated any time soon.
Bought the facelift one on 2021. Experience was top notch. You have ample power when you need it and good driving dynamics for a suv. Service is expensive so buy only if you can afford it. If anyone looking something in this segment give a test drive you won’t be disappointed.
A Former Compass owner, now Tata Safari Top Model Owner. I had the pleasure of driving the Compass for 5 years before I changed to the Safari. It was a magnificent vehicle at its price tag. No gimmicks, only performance. But we Indians always look for something extra. The reason for Jeeps downfall is they have introduced changes only after their competitors did, making the customer feel cheated. A Seltos with everything but a little less performance is more appealing to the customer than spec less Compass. This is the sole reason I changed to a full spec Tata Safari top model.
Im a Ecosport owner nd a person asked me ( what is perfect upgrade of ECOSPORT.. ) i said *Compass* this car is beauty ❤ Power 💯 Comfort 💯 Handling 💯 Quality 💯 Brand value 💯 Stability 💯 Is goes 200 easily 🔥
Clearly there are mixed opinions about the presenter's speaking styles but this is how most experienced orators speak on the subject they an expert at. It may feel different when these 2 talk with each other in something like Motorinc First but that is only because it's more conversation oriented and I doubt there is a script involved which gives more freedom and relaxation. But in something like this or Spark for instance where the presenter speaks directly at the camera there is definitely a script involved and in order to ensure that the said words are delivered properly our mind subconsciously makes us more careful while adapting to the way we want to speak. Pauses are the way to show the importance of the point anyway. Every presenter does that. Some more than the others and at different paces but everyone does. Thank you Motorinc.
I have been driving compass for around five years now and I love it. Service centre experience is terrible though. Maintenance is expensive but ride quality is amazing. And yes, this guy can talk a little faster 1.5x 😊
Hi, I'm a compass owner for last 2 years. Your review was spot on! There is lack of damping in boot and engine. It's low frequency noise bugs you in city, but the overall feel makes up for it.
I sold my LR discovery and bought the Compass Model S 4x4 and I am in Love. The ride quality is great, brakes are awesome. The 4x4 system is very capable. The after sales service at Jeep Siliguri is impressive and quick.
Spot on review. Decided to buy mainly to 'Get out'! After 3 yrs, I'm glad I did, on every single drive. Multiple highway trips, many over 1000 km in a day, have been with virtually no fatigue.. I only wish the 9 speed auto was smarter. The 4x4 has surprised me with sometimes with the places I've managed to get to in stock tyres - i'm not an off-road buff but i drive a lot of narrow beaten village roads where the size of the Compass is a BIG advantage. If you learn to feather the throttle right, you can get 10-11kmpl in the city, and 14-18kmpl on the highways depending on the speeds you maintain (sweet spot is 110).. A weak spot I've discovered is the front windshield that tends to crack (twice so far) with even the slightest impact, (including if the wipers are dropped carelessly, the service centre told me) - looks like the weak link in a chassis and suspension that can handle quite a punishment
No other car in its catagory comes with such a driving dynamics It's powerful it's smooth it's offroad capabilities Unfortunately in India no great cars had ever successful
The confidence this car gives on the highway is amazing. Strongly planted on the road, excellent grip, lots of power and torque on offer. Amazing stability.
I own the 2022 Compass Petrol Limited, and have driven roughly 30k kms, where majority has been the highway. Its a drivers car. Steering feel is unmatched. The stability on the road is unmatched. Suspension, better than many of the peers... and the kick you get when you press your foot down on the pedal!! Some people do compare prices with the Seltos and Creta, but i personally feel the facelifted version of 2021 is a true gem. The exterior although simple and similar to the previous, still looks better than 3 generation upgrades of a lot of competitors :) The interiors is something which many car manufacturers are loosely copying with those straight line running through. The touch and feel is always premium and no tacky switches. In the limited, the 360 camera and TPMS is missing, however i never felt the need for that. Having said that, the after sales is not good, especially in certain cities. Parts are moderately expensive.. But then..nobody would buy a Compass for 'kitna deti hai'.. isnt it?
I have few questions to Compass owners. 1. How’s passengers comfort? 2. What about rattling noise? 3. How hard is clutch for the tight traffic cities like Bengaluru? One more question to car enthusiasts. How about buying a good sedan ? Is ground clearance for Indian roads is still a concern?
@@ManoharRR 1. Passenger comfort - the seats are good quality leather seats with a little hard cushioning, if you compare to Harrier, Seltos. The rear seats have two protruding parts just near the underthigh which helps a lot for the underthigh support. Enough space between legs and front seats. Four people very comfy. 5 can also manage. 2. Rattling noise - thats something not every jeep owner experiences. It was a problem with certain 2021 models. Ive read a lot on the forums that people did a lot of felt linings inside and near the wiring to reduce/ get rid of that. 3. I own a DCT 7 speed, so cant say much about the clutch. What i have heard is its moderately hard. Hope that helps ! :)
Current Compass owner and ex skoda owner.Surprisingly compass is a reliable yet very costly vehicle to maintain. Service cost past 1lakh kms is min 40K, but it doesn’t break down like the skoda i had used.extremely well built except for slight body roll.I would still say that Toyota is a better option overall
I have a Jeep Compass Sport Diesel MT, Sep 22 model. It has TPMS so it is not exclusive to top variant. But I completely agree that this car is not meant for city use. I use it as secondary car for highways and countryside. That is where it shines. I have driven it on really bad roads, under construction or missing roads and it really is worth the money there. Even after driving 400 kms, I don’t feel like stopping. Only negative for me is the AC which struggles in summers unless you put the fan to high speed where it gets noisy.
bro, not meant for city use. but why bro can you explain a little ? i am planning to buy the diesel version of this for both city n highway use... currently driving ford figo diesel
@@sarwara3973 The car is not meant for stop-and-go driving. You won't enjoy the drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic because the turbo engine will be rendered useless. Mileage will be disappointing too. Remember that 2.0 Turbo engine is like a 2.5 non-turbo engine but only if turbo is engaged.
You reply to almost all the comments. So very professional. Good, keep it up!!! I have always argued that JC is comparable with the big three german's entry level cars. JC should not be compared with creta, seltos and so on...
Meridian owner here. Bang on review! It’s NOT a city car. On the highways it’s a beast. Designed to munch miles while keeping everyone in the cabin happy. I’ve done Bangalore to Kashmir in my Meridian and loved every bit of it. The suspension is the highlight of this SUV. It has the magic carpet ride and it just decimates the bad roads. I use a small EV for city commute so don’t have to worry about the Jeeps shortcomings as a city car.
Beautiful tribute to the Jeep. I am tempted to go in for one. In January 2025. Pre-owned one , of course. The gentleman makes no mistakes in his presentation.
@@motorincHey … I’m planning to get out and get one ..lmao But, how about the Diesel engine concerns?? Will it be a disadvantage to own a diesel car as I heard the government regulation is to do away with diesal engines in the long run?? Is that going to be a deal breaker then? Awaiting your response ❤
Kartikeya sir, this has been an absolutely brilliant video, couldn't agree more to every single point mentioned. As someone who has a Compass in the family, each aspect of this review hit the mark! The Compass is definitely NOT a city car, the engine simply isn't suited for it. Moreover, it gets really rough over time. I have a 2021 Compass manual in the Limited trim, and the car really does struggle in heavy traffic. But once you hit the highway, it's a completely different story because that engine just opens up and drops heaps of power and torque that make cruising simply lovely. Furthermore, the interior experience described by you is 100% accurate, the cabin is creepily quiet, bar the tires, they are a pain for sure, and some of the first batches of the 21' Compass did have issues with them in the start. However, they do last long and can handle some light off-roading. As for safety, my family and I couldn't really ask for more because the car has everything we need! 6 airbags, ESP, TC, the works, and the renowned chassis and frame. As for the suspension, my goodness it's rough at low speeds but it makes a full 180 when the car goes above say, 50 kph, and then the experience is terrific. Unfortunately, Jeep's after-sales experience is a joke, my car has gone in at least 5 times now, some for routine checkups, and some for manufacturing issues. All i'll say is that it may or may not be a deal-breaker if someone is considering buying the Compass for sure. But yes, apologies for the humongous comment. Thank you for this review, keep it up, and I can't wait to see more!!
Hullo Siddhant! Awesome to hear about your Compass and your family. Wish you all great journeys with it. Although the service aspect is the big disappointment. Thank you for sharing!
I don't give a f*** about what people say about Kartikeya's speech and his controversial pauses in between. Dude just listen to my man's exceptional script and knowledge he gives in a way someone giving a motor enthusiast lullaby ❤
@motorinc Being inclined towards compact suv i am struggling to make a decision between creta and seltos with NA engine 7:42 with mt ... Which would be better choice considering look, interior, drive on highwsy most of the time. Budget 20 lacs max
Hello SS! The engines will feel the same in both. The creta’s advantage is better backseat comfort. The Kia’s advantage is the cooler looking cabin. You could pick either, easily. Hyundai seems to tune their suspension a bit better compared to the Seltos - so without having driven their updated versions together it is hard to say for sure - but it is safe to assume the Creta would be a it more comfortable because of that too. Keep us posted please!
I just love the compass. Its stance is perfect. It looks timeless. Its the only car after the polo that ages beautifully. You can just keep this vehicle for ages and it won’t feel outdated. Its the only vehicle of the sub 30L segment in my opinion that can be called a true blooded SUV cos it has a legacy and its fully capable ❤ But sadly back in the days it was around 15L ex showroom 😢 it suddenly went from vfm to expensive. Maybe cos of Creta and Seltos pricing. Its definitely much much superior. Kinda like a budget german SUV
3:51 As soon as Kartikeya mentioned the 30L price, youtube hit me with an advertisement. That was not an advertisement, that was universe telling me "It's an expensive car, don't waste your time watching cars you can't afford yet!"
I bought Jeep compass longitude(O) Diesel Manual 3 yeras back and the car is too good to drive. I have driven x1 also of my friend and somehow I felt the ride quality is better in Jeep and also it never complains about the terrain. It is under rated vehicle and its not comparable to creta or any such car. Speed of 120kmph really feels like 80. Drive this, GLA and X1 on the same day and then decide. Its such a great VFM car.
Thanks @motorinc for being blunt on the pricing. I've been a prospective compass owner since the day of launch and have recommended it to so so many people. But in 2022, when I went for TDs with my uncle, the compass was so far more expensive that we didn't even bother with a TD.
Have a Model S , same version but manual. Incredible cabin experience. Compass lives 120% to the tagline: Go Anywhere, Do Anything! Never had to think twice about - can we do this road, hill, incline, ditch or city road. Its actually quite good in bad traffic as well. Last 1 year in Bangalore city and its handled the traffic like a it does the offroad. Pure experience. Only challenge- Jeep has one of the worst service experiences, especially in the city of Pune
We had a Fiat UNO back in the day and….it was a Tank!!🗿 And now I have a Compass..the “meditation session” was a bang on!! The Compass surely does have a Zen soul.🧘
There was a great option for Jeep Compass and that was " TrailHawk", and like all great things that happen in the Indian Car market, TrailHawk was also abruptly stopped. Only Cosmetic and Psuedo SUVs with Frontwheel drives have a future in India... Period.
Even though the video is all about diesel engine, for me, petrol engine is much quieter and never have left any scarcity of power or eagerness to achieve 3 digit speeds. In love with it madly. ❤ And for all of my colleagues, friends who criticized my decision in 2019, my only answer was that I have bought it for highways and not for the city and they all laughed it off....thanks for Karthik that he reinforced my thought. Thank you...😊
The car is great for city and highway. Service experience over the last two years has been good. Overall love the car, ownership experience and ability to drive over any road or in some cases no roads.
Have been driving the 2021 facelift, model s 4x4, and it’s a pure joy to drive on the highways, rough roads or no roads. I never got stuck anywhere, despite extremely heavy rains last year in Himachal, when I had water inside the car, it kept going, only to malfunction (electrics) after I reached home 12 hours later. And frankly I find it easy to drive in city traffic as well or maybe that’s because I am used to it by now. Only 2 downsides however, firstly, too many punctures. Even after shifting from Bridgestone to Pirelli scorpion (don’t know if it’s a car issue, Indian roads issue or my luck issue). Secondly, nearest service station is 60 km away. Everything else is very good in this car and it’s a very tough little SUV.
I was a Compass owner. It has great build quality (in a crazy accident where a motorcycle rammed into the driver door at high speed and I did not feel a thing), loves the highways, is a pain to drive in the city, and has a fabulous diesel engine. Done many out of town trips in it, with the longest being a Pune-Ladakh-Pune roundtrip of 6500kms over 23 days. I had it for 5 years and sold it just a week before its extended warranty expired. Simply because there was too much unreliability about parts and when they will break down. And when they do, replacement/repair is prohibitively expensive. Buy it only if you think 30+ lacs is small change for you, you are going to spend a lot of time on the highways, and like to do some [minor] off-roading.
Cars have become expensive....my pre face-lift 2020 Oct 4x4 Manual Diesel top end cost me 27.11 on rd Mumbai n that was 3.7 lacs over the Harrier then because this was also a 4x4....Totally worth it and a great experience so far with 60k on the odo
The experience that Compass offers is not in the features but in the feels of a car, the moment you close the gate you feel the acoustic glass doing it's work all the external noise is muffled the feel of the soft plastics all around the interior, perfect leather stitching and when you are on the highway it just feels so planted in comparison XUV while having a softer suspension Xuv was all over the place and a bit scary, so the price i think is worth it as the ride quality of Compass compares to BMW , Mercedes level but at half the price and the best thing is that it's Made in India. Service experience is good for people living in major cities just tell them to do a basic service and don't let them add unwanted stuff that is not required.
I have driven my Compass S model diesel auto 4x4. I can tell you this is the best car to drive in the segment. Suspension is in matched. However, refinement in engine and cabin insulation should be improved in the facelift versions whenever they come. Also, rear seats need to be comfortable. Front seats are very comfortable. Services have been excellent so far. It's a driver car. Family of 4 should definitely go for compass if their budget permits.

We have the 2023 Compass 1.4 L Petrol Engine with 7 speed DCT and we simply love it! It was sad seeing this engine depart after BS 6 Phase 2 norms.. For 31L we dont have any complains about it and have already clocked over 20k km even tho the use is 80% in city!
Hullo US! Thanks so much for pitching in. You are the first petrol owner in the comments. We think 😃. Happy to know you are happy with it. How’s the service been?
I have a model s 4x4 and absolutely love it. Once you get in there is no way out 😅 it's been two years and absolutely no issues with rattling or have mechanical issues. As good as a Toyota. Fingers crossed
my cmpass has been in the shop for 4 months with only 952 miles. Wiring issues finally diagnosed after telling me it was fixed 2 months ago. Harness on backorder....driving loaner now. Coworkers Compass also required harness replacement, found while driving it hime from pickup. Good luck!
@@pizzaislife_QC The same thing happened with mine here in the US. I drove my brand new car for 4 months and then it spent 4 months in the dealership while they tried to figure out what the electrical issues were. Ultimately, they replaced the wiring harness.
Have our Compass 4x4 and I'm from hill station. It is really great to drive at slopes and i always feel confident and comfortable behind the wheels. Haven't drive much in highway but would love to. I'm totally happy with my car as it's my first car. Also power is great and I have drive fortuner also but really Compass is better in terms of handling and driving comfort. Sound system is good, and I don't use infotainment much ,so for me it's fine with what I had in my car. Atlast I would like to say that if u want to keep car for family and for long time, and you don't need many features but focused on driving comfort, reliability, power and strong build quality then u can trust this car. It is not stylish as Seltos Creta but just drive once and I promise you will love it. With love, From a Happy & satisfied Jeep Compass family member. Darjeeling. West Bengal ❤❤❤
Now that it came to my notice, Indeed it has been 7 proud years of owning this beast. May it be driving in mountains or travelling from North to South of India and back, it's been a sheer pleasure. I can't agree more with how Mr. Kartikey defines this car. The engine is indeed a beast. With all 5 seats occupied, and the boot stuffed to the Top still, you won't feel the slightest of twitch in the performance. The build quality is superb, the seats as rightly said are made in such a way that you won't feel tired even after driving the car for 700KM in a single stretch. During the launch, obviously the updates as we see in model S were not there, but it still had the right amount of everything.
Price Tag - Hefty, Reliability - Not great, After Sales - Expensive, Sensible - NO, IS IT WORTH IT - YES
Compass exudes pure love for driving. The feeling you get when you just hold the keys in your hand is amazing. This is pure bliss and can't be explained.
Hullo MP! Do you have one? And, having had driven one - we get it! It is lovely in so many ways.
I own 2019 compass limited edition Diesel 2.0. It’s a beast, ride quality and handling and the car is a joy to ride. Except yearly service I haven’t faced any issues till date..

😊
Places visited-
Laddakh, Nelong, Manali, Munsiyari, Kashmir, Chitkul, Darma, Binsar, Spiti, Harshil, Chanshal, Sankri, etc etc etc

Heya Vineet! Thanks for sharing that with us!
Perhaps manufacturers should option expensive features such as ADAS and sunroofs. Consumers should have a choice of opting out. It’s irritating how these features are shoved down your throat every time you want to buy a top of the line vehicle.
In that sense, the compass is a gemstone. ☺️
+1 Gazillion
But then we have reviewers complain about number of variants. TLDR - You cannot satisfy anyone and companies should abandon variant system altogether and go for car configurator model
Kudos Tata for offering choice of Sunroof and ADAS separately
This is the most alluring automobile review I've ever heard ❤
Jeep life is the sweet life. Cheers!!

Thanks Atharv! Awesome to know about your experience with the Compass.

Definitely 1.25 for 😂
He's literally speaking each word and then adding a 2 sec pause 😂
How’s it at 1.5x?
1.25 at voice is like natural
I'd like it peacefully at 1x 😇
It's therapeutic
Hullo AG! Thanks for the update! Glad to hear someone took their Compass off-roading! 😁

Didn’t get it
I still remember when i heard when Compass was launched.
😃
You are suffering from owner's remorse.
Thanks so much Manan! That is very helpful for us and for other viewers too.

That red looks stunning. A proud compass 2023 owner, it’s a tank of a car. Absolute pleasure to drive. The 1.4 Turbo Petrol does at time feels a little laggy but that’s the best you can get from a brand like Jeep in a highly regularised market of India.

Hello! Glad to have it.
Eid Mubarak to you and the fam too! And, thank you.
great review bro .. will buy it for sure..
Mileage of diesel compass ?
Having owned the Fiat Palio and then the Linea T jet , we had almost decided to buy the Jeep Compass . However the 2024
version didn’t appeal as we thought some cost cutting done and the quite pricey.
You can thank our lovely government 😊
Yes and also because it's a very unreliable and costly machine to maintain product
They also did away with the petrol and they improved the cabin and equipment. Which only partly justifies the price rise. 30L is just crazy.
I own 2023 , S Model Diesel , Manual , it’s a beast of a car , the confidence which it gives to drive is immaculate and the power is so crazy you won’t notice that you are over speeding and interiors are classy , I had shortlisted harrier too but their interiors and materials in the cabin didn’t satisfy me , with independent suspension ride takes can take a nap like baby on the bad roads as well , I’m a happy customer since 2 years 😊
Thanks for letting us know Harsh!
The only thing I looked forward to after a long day at work is the one hour drive back from office to home. Mekes everything feel good everytime 👍

Hullo A! Glad to hear from you and thanks for the encouragement. Going to pass it on to K.
Awesome RWT! That’s heartening.
Hullo MK! Thanks for the peek into your garage and garage decisions. 😃 How’s the Safari been? How long have you had it?

No other car in its catagory comes with such a driving dynamics
It's powerful it's smooth it's offroad capabilities
Unfortunately in India no great cars had ever successful
Been a fan of Compass since the Trailhawk version. Always in my bucketlist!

The exterior although simple and similar to the previous, still looks better than 3 generation upgrades of a lot of competitors :)
The interiors is something which many car manufacturers are loosely copying with those straight line running through. The touch and feel is always premium and no tacky switches. In the limited, the 360 camera and TPMS is missing, however i never felt the need for that.
Having said that, the after sales is not good, especially in certain cities. Parts are moderately expensive.. But then..nobody would buy a Compass for 'kitna deti hai'.. isnt it?
Hullo SB!
The interior point is OP! And glad to hear you are enjoying your time with it.
My cousin owns one. He did its 5 year service/75000kms, bill came to 65k!! that's some expensive machine to maintain.

Yep! The AC gets quite loud on the highest setting. And glad to hear about your drives. 🙏🏾

😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡
Meridian owner here. Bang on review! It’s NOT a city car. On the highways it’s a beast. Designed to munch miles while keeping everyone in the cabin happy. I’ve done Bangalore to Kashmir in my Meridian and loved every bit of it. The suspension is the highlight of this SUV. It has the magic carpet ride and it just decimates the bad roads. I use a small EV for city commute so don’t have to worry about the Jeeps shortcomings as a city car.
Hullo AD! Great to hear from you! Thanks so much for sharing your life with the Meridian with us.
I think I saw your online column before getting the meridian myself.
@@abhinavtripathi3064 the column on teambhp? Did you buy from PPS Jeep?
Beautiful tribute to the Jeep. I am tempted to go in for one. In January 2025. Pre-owned one , of course. The gentleman makes no mistakes in his presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it @robertgnanamony1251. Be sure to check out S01E12 of ThisConnect if you get any questions about buying used.
@@motorinc Omg hi! More than happy to share about our experience, and thank you! I also definitely do hope that Jeep improves the customer experience.
we have a 6 year old jeep compass. it is so smooth on highway that sometimes we don't realize we are way over speed limit until we see the meter.
Oh yeah! We get that!
I don't give a f*** about what people say about Kartikeya's speech and his controversial pauses in between.
Dude just listen to my man's exceptional script and knowledge he gives in a way someone giving a motor enthusiast lullaby ❤
Hullo CMP! Good to know it works for you! 🙏🏾
Glad you like it! Planning to get one?
@@motorinc nope, my father in law owns one, but im not into cars much. However even if I was, it would be out of budget🥲
There’s one in the fam. So, why get another one. 😃
3:51 As soon as Kartikeya mentioned the 30L price, youtube hit me with an advertisement. That was not an advertisement, that was universe telling me "It's an expensive car, don't waste your time watching cars you can't afford yet!"
Hahahahha what was it?
As always, Kartikeya's story telling is very interesting. Kudos to team MotorInc 👌
Thanks so much for your time and encouragement WZ!
Thanks for sharing your point of view @akhilmittalji6816.
Thanks @motorinc for being blunt on the pricing. I've been a prospective compass owner since the day of launch and have recommended it to so so many people. But in 2022, when I went for TDs with my uncle, the compass was so far more expensive that we didn't even bother with a TD.
Thank you for joining in the conversation! 🙏🏾 Always heartening to hear from you!
TD would have been disastrous. You could have ended up buying it. Happened to me in 2022. Harrier to Compass😊
But not a pinch of regret
Have a Model S , same version but manual. Incredible cabin experience. Compass lives 120% to the tagline: Go Anywhere, Do Anything! Never had to think twice about - can we do this road, hill, incline, ditch or city road. Its actually quite good in bad traffic as well. Last 1 year in Bangalore city and its handled the traffic like a it does the offroad. Pure experience. Only challenge- Jeep has one of the worst service experiences, especially in the city of Pune
Hullo Saurav, thanks for the take. Would love to try the manual too. It’s been a while!
We had a Fiat UNO back in the day and….it was a Tank!!🗿 And now I have a Compass..the “meditation session” was a bang on!! The Compass surely does have a Zen soul.🧘
Awesome to hear you are getting that vibe too! May you have awesome travels!
There was a great option for Jeep Compass and that was " TrailHawk", and like all great things that happen in the Indian Car market, TrailHawk was also abruptly stopped. Only Cosmetic and Psuedo SUVs with Frontwheel drives have a future in India... Period.
We vote with our wallets. 🤷♂️
Hyundai Tuscon AWD proved to be far more superior than the TrailHawk.
Even though the video is all about diesel engine, for me, petrol engine is much quieter and never have left any scarcity of power or eagerness to achieve 3 digit speeds. In love with it madly. ❤
And for all of my colleagues, friends who criticized my decision in 2019, my only answer was that I have bought it for highways and not for the city and they all laughed it off....thanks for Karthik that he reinforced my thought. Thank you...😊
My compass ABS sensors have failed so many times I don’t even keep a count. Apart from that rattles from dashboard and shoddy service is a real pain.
☹️ Sorry to hear that!
I just love the presentation and explanation about the vehicle you do in these kind of videos. 👏👏
Thank you for watching @nosom7, appreciate it.
The car is great for city and highway. Service experience over the last two years has been good. Overall love the car, ownership experience and ability to drive over any road or in some cases no roads.
Now that is awesome to know. Please shout out for your dealership/service centre! It will be helpful for others too.
Is it worth to buy compass base model manual? I think they have brought down price at 18.90 ex showroom.
Thanks for sharing your experience @ujvalnanavati6774!
Very unique way of narration... feels like an ASMR video lol... you just gained a new subscriber :)
Welcome to MotorInc!
Thanks for sharing @HumaraYeSafar
I know this maybe isn't the place to ask, but when could we expect the new season of this-connect to drop, i've just listened/watched thru the whole 1st season again a few days back, was hoping to know when the 2nd season is coming along. Ooh and as always fantastic re-view (hehe) Karthikeya, top notch visuals, editing and sound design Team Motorinc!
Hullo GR! First - hugs man! Thanks for the patience. It’s going to happen soon-ish. 😬 Not gonna promise more.
@@motorinc Haha all cool, can't wait, will try to be patient though. Keep up the great work!
I think motorinc should do an overview of the altroz family as it stands now. Probably better to get it done before the racer launches.
We want to! But test cars have been hard to come by.
@@motorinc how exactly do you get your test cars? General public? Or ask the company to loan you one?
Car manufacturers. Some are better at providing these cars than others.
4:32 So for most
seltos, xuv 700, safari, hycross. Are way better options. Jeep is only for off road and fast speed agility enthusiast
👍🏽
i found my compass manual Diesel 4x4 LP purpose on day one it's 2019 model manual ( loves to drive in Bangalore traffic too ) did 1L plus Km and proud of it your video shared in my family group and it was a drop folks who use to say bla bla bla bla all slient !
thank you for being our voices
regarding services I have multiple option in banagalore outside of the showroom and guess what did stage 1 tuning as well and happy to see it touces 210+ kmph without hassle
You guys just nailed it,what a story telling 👌
Hey PR! Thanks so much! ❤️
Good to know! That is a happy message. Thank you! And hope your garage stays happy and healthy for ages to come! 😁
Absolutely gem for the highways, feedback from proud owner
Oh yeah! That is totally a sweet spot!
Dynamic brake control and steering control! Not many people know. Saved me once from changing direction when car jumped from an incline
my cmpass has been in the shop for 4 months with only 952 miles.
With love,
From a Happy & satisfied Jeep Compass family member.

This video is so calming to watch.
Glad to hear that! Thanks for taking time to write in!
Hi MM! Awesome to know about your garage and travels. We wish you awesome times with it!
Trailhawk compass forever
Thanks for letting us know @sionkempe3220.
I was waiting for this Jeep Compass thanks for making kindly make same video on Meridian also.
Noted! Thank you for waiting!
Can you please do one for ALtroz CNG? Poor people deserve love too!
We would love to! Tata cars have been a bit hard to get.
