hey man your practice is inspiring me. I need your help. I played Alan's Dawson rudimental ritual at slow and fast tempo. But there's many tension on my strokes
SWEET VID bro! Say, what practice methods( or tips) did you use or speed to achieve such balance and speed? I'm currently trying improve how "clean" I play( 6stroke alterations atm). Any tips n thanks.
The Honey badger Thanks man! One great tip that I learned from Tiger Bill's method is the science of muscle groups. The first thing is to practice playing tension-free. Practice your singles, doubles and other rudiments at the slowest speed/tempo marking possible ( i recommend 40-60bpm) and then notice how tension free you are. Make a mental note of it. Then try playing at your fastest speed that you can sustain without tension. For a while, you will have to practice a little under your true speed so that you can rid yourself of playing with tension. Speed is relative and is really based on perception and the limits of our understanding and imagination. So when you practice, rid yourself of the concept of speed and focus on PRECISION.
