wow!! you have nailed it.great work and thanks a million for showing, teaching and spreading the love.transforming ti a snare drum seems to be a big hurdle with some of these techniques. marching snares excluded.
Good video. Yes. I worked with a teacher that broke me of the habit I had been taught of working my upstroke. Now, I just down stroke and let the bead come to rest about an inch or so off the drum head (like a rudimental snare drummer) . Like water, yes. Gravity can work for you. Wrist and fingers & work on reducing tension - or alternating between tension and relaxation - of the small muscles (fingers) & controlling the bounce. That's my take.
Wow! Thank YOU for the inspiration! You have been such a positive influence on my progression over the years! I remember printing out your approach and method and studying the images as closely as possible. Your approach to drumming and technique changed my life 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Thanks man, this is awesome. I have been practicing push/pull for a while now but am having a hard time not sounding like 2 doubles with each hand instead of a steady rrllrrllrrllrrll, more like rr ll rr ll rr ll. Great technique!
I honestly found his notes online and printed them off. I don't currently have a copy of them as that was about 16 years ago but if you google "tiger bill tensionless drumming" you may be able to find them
Man bro!!! How in the world did you get that fast??? I have been playing for many years and I'm not even half your speed. Please share in depth, with all the details, on what I should practice to get to that speed.
Honestly man i developed my speed by practicing these techniques in the video. Experiment with different rebound surfaces. You have to believe that you're faster and then put in the work, practice your technique and stay relaxed. Meditation and practicing at very slow speeds/tempos really helps you learn calmness. Speed is a relative term so really don't even stress or worry over it. It will come but only if you are patient and consistent in your practice and development of your hand's independence. Marking your progression with a metronome is absolutely necessary. I hope this helps
