After that, price went up again. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I love this truck , I don’t tow anything so range loses in winter don’t matter to me.

And several items I wanted were now unavailable. And the financing is at 7%. The market is about 5%. I guess Ford does not to keep their customers. I waited so long to get my order in and this is the end result.

I reserved it on June 3, 2021 and finally I received the email on Mar 30, 2023 for ordering a Ford Lightening. But I was shock because a price starts $63,474 of XLT. If I add options, then it will be closed $70,000 without a dual eMotor. So I stop to order a Ford lightening, because if I have $70,000 then I have lots of choices, Silverado, Tesla, Kia EV9 etc. I will research more until Apr 24, this date is my final to order a Lightening. But my mind already is canceling it.

Price is now in line with other EVs [that are less capable]. I wonder what would have happened if Ford had started the Pro at $60K and XLT at $65K. Somewhat less buzz for sure, but still under Rivian's $70K at the time. And they may have ended up with a more realistic/sustainable/profitable list of reservation holders while generating a lot less ill will. Also makes the other price points "more attractive" (less offensive).

When I put in my reservation in 2021, I had no idea how I could afford this F150. But after tax incentives, and trade-in on my old truck I thought I might be able to do it. After removing so many useful features (that were the highlight of the announcement of the truck in the first place), plus jacking the price even higher when I already couldn't afford it, I have no choice but to move on. I got my invitation to order on Jan 19th this year and I have not placed the order. Hopefully a Ranger EV will come out soon so it's cheaper and by then the charging infrastructure hopefully gets better. Until then I lurk in the shadows when I can get off an ICE truck.

There are some out there that will still show up on lots with MSRP below 80K. The lariat I purchased last weekend had an MSRP of 70K because it was built before price hikes and the dealer sold it to me at the MSRP sticker price. I had another dealer offer below MSRP but it wasn't the color I wanted and it was already to late as I already agreed to buy the one I wanted in the color I wanted.

Larry, I gotta say I was super excited when they announced the Lightning. I was just as excited when I got my email finally to build my Lightning. My reservation was around yours so I know you know my pain. Then I built it. I wanted a Platinum cause that’s what I have had for my past 3 F-150’s. I wasn’t excited about the price but I understood that it was a new leap for Ford and that the initial buyers of this tech would help to keep Ford invested in the EV market and that would eventually make them affordable……….then I saw that I wasn’t getting massage seats…….or the scales………or intrusion detection/incline security…….or the bed camera with the trailer package……..or heated steering wheel (not really a big deal here in Texas truthfully)…….or the charge cable (not the pro power that has to be installed). All of these things (minus the scales and charging cord) I have currently in my 2022 F-150 Platinum but I’m supposed to pay $20k more for less. I talked to my dealership today and told them I’d give them an answer Wednesday if I still want to go forward with my purchase. They don’t care either way. They’ll sell it to someone else if I don’t go forward with the purchase. I’m bummed cause I really want to get this truck but Ford has really made me question my 30 year loyalty to their brand. When Ford realized that Tesla wasn’t making Cybertruck a reality, the Pro price was set to a realistic level, and the other trim levels accordingly. Just speculating but we are only a few months away from the 2024 Lightnings rolling off the assembly line at a projected production rate of 150K per year. It would seem that Ford may have to introduce a leap in range performance due to the rumors related to the Silverados and Cybertrucks also entering production around that time. We may also see some new trim options to enhance the market attractiveness of the now dated Lightning models competing against fresh designs from competitors. Another force is the economics of high interest rates and high MSRPs. One scenario is that Tesla could low ball the market pricing due to their unrivaled ability to scale up production of EVs. This would force Chevy to walk the talk on their early pricing boasts and Ford would also have little choice but to lower prices. If you place an early 2024 Lightning order ASAP this summer, you may well get it in 2023 if they achieve their 150K production rate when production starts in late October +/-. I don't know if I'm correct on any of this. I just wanted to express my thoughts.

At the way prices and value is trending, ICE is a much better avenue for travel, until the 2nd generation of EV’s come into play. I can buy years worth of fuel for the premium I would have to pay for a Ford Lightning today, (not to mention the high finance cost in today’s market). I am going to pass on the reservation notice I just received and wait until the 2025 2nd generation models are available and then decide. 😢

Bums me out every time you post a Lightning video if you just put your XLT order in the night of 9/7 you'd probably have your truck and qualified for the full tax credit. I've been along with you on your Lightning journey since the second video you posted on the Lightning it's been sad to see you lose that spark (pun intended) hang in there buddy this truck is worth the wait! I love mine.

If your gonna drop $60k on on a electric truck I'd wait a year and buy the upcoming Cybertruck which will have the best specs and nationwide charging station network. Lets not forget Ford is #1 in recalls as well.

You'll have to wait 2-3 years for a Cybertruck. Bought my Lightning to drive in the meantime. Like it so much I might not even switch.

The truck is amazing though if you can get one you will not regret it. I have been driving it a week now and I am getting about 3.4 miles per kilowatt with how I drive which is absolutely amazing for a vehicle this big. You also want to remember that the tax credit changes and becomes much more strict after April 18th so if you can get one before you are basically gaining $3,750 that you won't get after the 18th.

I already cancelled my order. Far, far too much money for too little vehicle that offers nothing of significance over a gas vehicle. As time goes by, more problems emerge on this vehicle giving new meaning to 'Fix Or Repair Daily'.
