When you mentioned you were entering Butte Montana, I remembered a sobering thought about when, as a young family with a small daughter, we traveled and tent-camped to Northern California along the same route. As we got closer to Butte, we saw signs on either side of the highway that warned drivers: "DO NOT PICK UP HITCH-HIKERS" and wondered why. Driving on through "downtown", we saw a motel sign and thought about stopping until we noticed directly across the street from the motel was a huge fence and a sign that said it was a STATE PRISON! I can't recall if we stayed in Butte or just drove on. I also think Butte was the area where old wooden mining structures and rotted, wooden stairs climbed up dry, dug-up nine shafts all massed together. (That may have been in Draper, North Dakota, which looked like a deserted War Zone.) For some reason, after all the cliffs and beauty you filmed just before this part, Butte set up a strange parallel world for us. That was in the 1960's. Happy Trails, Eric and Jax. 4:05 when you questioned why the Engineer didn't honk back, the crew likely didn't hear your horn. Most locomotives are either too noisy to hear much around or too well insulated to hear. I have almost 15 years of railroading and 12 of which I was a ̶h̶o̶g̶h̶e̶a̶d̶ sorry Engineer. I try to play "horn wars" but sometimes it's just not possible. Take care of yourself and Jax. Cheers

FYI just saw this on RV Village Facebook page: For all the kitty people. In Missouri, the tick borne diseases are really bad this year. They quit eating and drinking and are lethargic and have a high fever. I've had 3 get it so far and use tick repellent on kitties and the yard. Doesn't seem to help. The best treatment so far is steroids and antibiotics and fluids if needed. Please watch your kitties closely as this is highly fatal. All it takes is 1 infected tick. This is only cats. Doesn't effect dogs or humans as it comes from bobcats. Feline only. If your cat survives then they become a carrier.
We drove this route on our way back to BC at the end of March escaping the US to get home as Covid hit. It was gorgeous then too, and partially covered in snow still. Montana is such a gorgeous state. One of my favourites! Another supa video!
Jax has you well trained! that was some awesome, esp the drone shot. Can you imagine what it was to build that road through the boulders, lots of blasting? Dad ran a crew in PA tunneling through the mountains, he did the blasting, so that 's where my mind went thinking of all the toll that went into that mountain road. And, I'm envious, rain- we haven't had rain in such a long time, driest it has been in 1 1/2 centuries where I am in Maine. I'm hoping the well won't go dry- I wouldn't complain about the rain, we are hurting- and watching other channels, some people baking in their vehicle in this hot weather, no escape- while you are in God's country. I remember you going through there in the wintertime, was that when your waterworks froze up- Anyway, all I remember is the misery of winter traveling through those states. Better days ahead!
I have a 2018 F-53 gasser. You should get a WiFi ODBII reader and plug it in to the port. Use an iPad or iPhone and an app called Dash Command to make a glass dash like the big DPs. You can monitor everything in realtime.
My husband had a laugh on your song. Our kids are your age & Lamb Chop was a favorite. Now if you start singing the Elephant Show we're all in trouble.😂
You should check out 5 Star Tuning for that V10. I use there tuner on mine and I'll never be without it again. You missed out...If you kept going straight on the dirt road past the lake turn, there is a huge dispersed camping area...I've stayed there many times...It's a gem.
So beautiful! I hated driving my Jeep through Missouri with a full U-Haul trailer. You go up, it flattens, you go up, it flattens. It seemed like forever. THANK YOU ERIC for the amazing wifi tool of "NOMADIC INTERNET" they are very good customer service as I told you I had a problem with the router when I messaged them they kindly asked that I return it and they would send me the next tier router I assumed they would send me a new one after they received the one with the issue NOOOO the day after I talked to them I got the new router and have been amazed at upload and down load speeds of over 20, mbs TY AGAIN FOR THE SUGGESTION

Bonnie Bourdage I have to apologize for my "back in the 1960's" post. It's been 60-or so, years since we were in Butte and it's probably change a lot since then. I'm remembering Butte from that time. We didn't return home through the northern route and went back from Southern California that year. I'd like to know what Butte looks like now. It seemed that there was also a Mental Health facility near our entrance to Butte. Sounds like our town here in Missouri: A relatively new State Hospital built directly across the boulevard from the old S.H. which is now a State Prison. The town is Absorkee, the mountains near there are the Absoroka. The mountains he was looking at off to the far right are the Crazy Mountains.
