  • ‘The hatred that lies at the heart of your hostility to particular members of the community that you came to this country to murder, has no place here. It has no place anywhere’ - A judge in New Zealand provided a statement as he sentenced the terrorist that murdered 51 Muslim worshippers at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, on March 15, 2019. The judge sentenced him to life in prison without parole, a first for a court in the country.

I've lived in NZ for 10 years and moved away a few months before the event. I lived near that mosque.
The thing about the people of NZ is that actions like this bring people together. There is no revenge or hate spread. They come together and show everyone that they will not be broken. People help each other there. I hope that terrorist saw that what he did, only made the country stronger and that he failed in spreading his hate.
My heart goes out to the families of the victims. I know that they are in a great place filled with love and support and they will never have to worry about this happening again.
