      @@freshpotatoes1107 I do have to say that the 3.8 is one of the hardest engines I've ever worked on. Only because of how tight everything is, the motor mounts are a nightmare. The water pump took me like 6 hours because you have to remove the alternator and power steering pump, which is one big piece as it is integrated with the mounting bracket. The spark plugs wires are also tricky to remove and install since they pass behind the intake manifold and don't get me started with the passenger side exhaust manifold with the egr tube that comes out of it! I guess that's just Ford lol

    My 2003 V6 Coupe Pony Edition has a sway bar. I just bought it in july 22, 4th owner, never came out in winter.It is lowered with Eibach shocks and Bilstein springs so i imagine that they added the sway bar at the same time. I was very surprised of the handling when i test drive it before buying. Although it was 16 years after i sold my 2000 GT that i had bought new it cornered like i was surprised. Will need to change sway bar bushings front and back this coming spring although they do not many noise yet but you could slide a round toothpick or a 2'' inch nail between the bracket and the rubber.

    As someone who owned a 95 V6 SN95, I can tell you that the 94-98 body style didn't come with a rear bar either. No V6 SN95 did. Which is bizarre, considering Mustang is a sports car and Ranger is a truck, yet Ford put a rear bar on my '94 Splash.

    • @itsnotan8
      @itsnotan8  3 года назад +1

      That's odd. Not sure why yours didn't have one. But I promise you the 94-98 v6 Mustangs are supposed to have them, they're 21mm. When I got my sway bar in the junkyard, I originally pulled one off a 94-98 v6, then I stumbled on to a 96 Gt and grabbed that one instead. Funny, my 1989 Bronco II also has a rear sway bar, but 2000 Mustang didn't.

    Also, gt swaybars are designed around weight. Just transferring the bars, same rear weight but lighter front weight, is equivalent to using a larger bar front and not changing rear? How does it handle the turn in? Overly aggressive?

    • @itsnotan8
      @itsnotan8  2 года назад

      I would assume they're designed with the weight in mind. But I'd assume for the smaller and non existent rear sway bar on the v6 is just for cost saving. I'm gonna say no, just based on my experience. I added the rear gt sway bar first and there was an immediate improvement in handling. Then I added the front gt sway bar and felt a little improvement, but not much. I can't attest to the performance based solely on they sway bars since I have Ford racing c springs that have been cut down, caster/camber plates and wider tires. But it has a decently sharp turn in, not necessarily aggressive, but not mild. Almost zero body roll, but that's probably in part to the really stiff springs. The car handles better than I'm willing to push it. The amount of g force it puts on the side of my head feels equivalent to slamming on your brakes in my opinion.

    jesus christ ford is cheap didn't even put a rear sway in new edge v6's. When the camaro died that allowed Ford to really cheap out on shit like this to 1. cut costs on the v6 models that most people just bought for looks 2. gimp the v6 model to make the GT's feel more impressive. If they had just done the simple stuff like this and given them Limited slips from the factory V6 mustangs wouldn't have gotten the bad rap they had for years until the day they killed the 3.7 Mustang. I was too young to appreciate the New edge models but I remember talking to older car guys who modded 2V's and 3.8 new edges and I remember them telling me if you give a 3.8 new edge a set of 4.10 w/ a LSD they wheren't that far behind a stock 2V. Honestly makes me think ford knew the 2v 4.6 wasn't all that much better then the 3.8L which from my understanding Ford basically copied from GM/Buick's legendary 3800. Then when they went to the 3V they dumped the 3.8 for the old 4.0 truck motor which yes did make good torque honestly seems like more of a lateral move and if anything they probably should have just kept the 3.8/3.9 into the s197 and maybe worked on adding variable valve timing or worked on the valve train or heads to give it more power, I think they just switched to the 4.0 because they where throwing that into explorers and rangers etc so why not save a buck and us it as the mustang v6
