My mother used to do this with my hair as a little girl! My two younger sisters had lots of luscious super thick hair and she would hot comb their hair on occasion. My hair onbthe other hand is a softer texture, and fine & thin plus also thin as far as density. She never pressed my hair because she said my hair would burn. The fancy style she did for me instead were pretty coil pony tails either with two on each side with hair parted down the middle; and then when i was a lil older she would have one in the back and one side high coil ponytail in front. I'm 45 and this brought such a simple but sweet & emotional memory to me I gotta share this to Mama on fb lol💞
Thanks so much for the Tip on 4:06. My Comb Always tends to get stuck. Now I see what I am doing wrong. I am so Excited to Get My Mannequin from you. I Love that Hair Texture. It say it Arrive on 2/12/23. I been waiting like Celi on the Color Purple Waiting on Mail. ( Anything come for me) 🤣 I purchased the Mouse to you Recommended. Thanks so much for All your Info.
My absolute pleasure! I hope the mannequin serves you well! Just make sure to shampoo gently! I see a ton of people scrubbing like crazy and that will Matt up her hair. I plan on putting out a few more tutorials using her so hopefully I’ll be able to show several techniques on her. 😊😊
3:35 ohhhhhh so that’s how you do it!!!! my hair was always getting stuck in the comb so now doing it this way I’ll have to practice. Will make my twist out quicker than two strand twist.
Thank you showing us how to create this lovely style. I’ve always wondered how these coils were done and I will be trying this new way of styling on my hair! So glad you’re back doing videos!!!!!
Thank you for sharing this info. I’ve tried doing coils on a live person(ME!) and getting that comb stuck was zero fun! 😅 Your demonstration was PERFECT! Thanks again. 💕💕💕
Ugh I appreciate you wholeheartedly for this free information! No wonder I’ve been doing this wrong and having a hard time! I’m so happy I found you. Thank you for this!
OMG!! Thank you! Your tutorial helped me tremendously. I was able to do a beautiful coil even my hair while it's dry (no water or product used). Can't wait to do this with product on it. And your voice is so relaxing - it's easy to listen to while learning. Thank you again!
I love this! These would look incredible on my daughter who has 3b hair. So pretty! I haven't made it through all your videos yet but I'd love to see a tutorial on box braids and look forward to getting through your video on parting you had mentioned in another video.
I started my locs from two-strand twists and do interlocking for maintenance. I wish I would have used this traditional method because the frizz and flyaways seem SO EXTRA! I’ll see how the next year goes and decide then if I’m going to start a different hairstyle. Just trying something new. Thanks for the tutorials!
I hit the subscribe button because you don’t waste time! Thank you for sticking to the topic and not making the video 17hrs long! I didn’t have to skip to the “good part”, it was all good! I appreciate your time
You. Have. No. Idea. HOW much you’ve helped me. I’m doing my own starter locs and couldn’t figure out why the comb gets caught on half of them and not on others. THANK YOU!!!
THANK U MATE FOR THE VID AND TALKING ME THROUGH THIS LOVLY CURL IM GOING TO BE TRYING THIS OUT ON SHORTER HAIR AND MY GRANDSON WHOS HAIR IS PAST HIS SHOULDER BOTH ARE MIXED AND AM TRYING TO TEACH THEM HOW TO CARE FOR THEIR HAIR TYPE.
Thank you ❤ my daughter wants this style and why should I pay a car note to get it done?!! Clear instructions and your voice made it pleasant to listen to. Here goes nothing…..
Nice curls...You mentioned locking the hair can any hair type be locked my hair is pretty fine low density and on the dry side. Can I safely lock my hair without fear of losing sections? Thank you.
When I do mine or my son's hair we always look like we don't have enough hair. Not full at all, just all scalpy but I'll keep trying. Thanks for your support.
Thanks for the tutorial. Have been using my fingers to coil my own hair & watching this I think I can now use my comb and hopefully get it tighter to my scalp. Amy recommendations to keeping the coils tight at the roots? Mine keep loosening up.
OOH!!! 👀👀👀👀 This process has always looked so mysterious to me, but you broke it down so well! I will have to try 👀 ETA: I tried it, figured it out, 💪🏼 but with how coily my hair is, finger coils achieve the exact same result with less effort.
Hi! 👋🏾👋🏾 Long time follower here!🤓 I have a couple of quick questions as I am going to do this to my hair for the first time: 1. You have used lwave in conditioner after haie is washed, is there a time when you actually use hair food(used to be called hair grease?) 2. Any tips for doing on your own hair in the middle or back of your head? 3. Once the hair is dry, if I put any hair food, will my hair get white bits?
I noticed when I use products like that it’s a really hard to clean my combs and brushes. What do you recommend to clean them are usually end up using hot sudsy water and I have the best luck with dish soap for cleaning them.
Try cleaning them while the comb/brush is still wet with product. If you let it dry on it’s much harder to get clean. I usually rub my combs with brushes (typically nylon bristle or soft bristle brushes) in soapy water to get them clean
what do you do when the middle section of your coil puffs (like it kind of unravels but only in the middle 🤷🏽♀) up afterwards? It's a constant problem that I have when trying to do these.
Omg I remember when I was little I wrapped a comb around my younger sisters hair, and continued to wrap into the comb and that joint got locked to her scalp. It took a while to unwrap it because it was so tight to her head. 😂 we still laugh about it to this day. Idk what we thought we were doing lol 😅 this style scares me to this day 😂

Brings back memories... This was my mom's go to hair style for special occasions for me when I was a kid.
Oh, I haven't done coils in my hair in ages. This is a good reminder to try this since my hair has grown longer.

You have a calming voice man, when you repeat 'turn and lightly pull' that had me in a trance 😂
So you just let the coils air dry after or do you have to blow dry them?
Thank you, this was very helpful.
