Car boot sales are my favourite haunt for craft supplies - not only paper - it’s a great challenge to search out all sorts of materials. Roll on the spring.
You have the best ideas and are a gifted artist 🤗🤗🤗I am not always able to go to the park, but I love gardens of pretty much all kinds. You have shown me how to bring more gardening into my home. We have a store here, called Dollar Tree. I found this beautiful garden book called “This Book Was a Tree.” It has lots of wonderful drawings that are perfect for Junk Journaling. I’ve scanned a few pictures and printed them out on vellum. I bought a big vellum pad, that I have to cut the pages in half in order to fit my printer. Watercolor is my very favorite medium of art. And you do it very well. I hope that you will have a richly blessed day.🌟🕊
I spent ages and ages and I finally found the Victorian flower album. It is stunning. I dint think I can ever cut it up, but I can scan it and print it at home. I take it out and smell it and flip through it. Thankyou so much for introducing it to me. It was worth every penny. And got it online.
I found you by following a link somewhere, it may have been Never Hopeless by Elizabeth. Thank you for your tutorials, which are very informative and enjoyable to watch. Your links are great! I save money by getting images off Pixabay and using them in my projects. I use open source software such as the LibreOffice suite for digital creating because GIMP has such a steep learning curve. My scanner doesn't care if I use dollar store art and craft supplies that fade out, so I tweak my projects online with G'MIC image editor and Lunapic, both of these have filters with which you can alter your artwork for many pretty effects. I have taken jpeg's of flowers from Pixabay and used free online image editors to alter them into some beautiful images.
A video encouraging me to use what I have is right uo my ally. I haven"t been to a store or done any online purchases since end of February. Haven't run out of anything, but adhesives. I allow myself to buy them. This is perfect because you gave me so many new ideas!! I also have been making my own washi by placing strips of score tape on the back my favorite paper scraps. Sometimes you don't need much and my home made doesn't need a bit glue stick to aid in it's ability to stay in place. Great video! Wonderful ideas. TFS. I did. God bless and stay safe.
Oooo I want that botanical drawing book! I was lucky enough to work at Kew Gardens briefly and see the archive of the flower illustrations. They were so inspiring to me and your books really reminded of that.
Great video! My suggestion is to give grab bags a try from any site that offers them for a really reasonable price. I just bought a grab bag of stationery off Etsy. The "normal" stationery sets cost $16 for 20 sheets of paper and 10 envelopes. I paid $6.50 for a grab bag of 14 sheets of paper and 14 envelopes. I wasn't expecting much (thought they might be less than lovely) and was pleasantly surprised at how nice they all are!) I'll definitely be giving other grab bags a try in the future.
That's an excellent suggestion and not one that I had thought of! Really good, and I appreciate you sharing it. Sounds like you are a busy crafter! Take care, hope to see you soon 😄 joie 🌿❣️
Great ideas. I've purchased digital scrapbook papers/stickers that can be printed on full page labels to use in my journals. The scraps can be punched into different shapes as journal spots or clusters on pages.
I love the sound of that Karen....I guess it's quite versatile, useful in lots of different designs and spreads... awesome. And thank you for sharing this... great for us all to learn from each other. Hope to see you soon!! Take care, joie 🌿❣️
A great idea, if you have too much craft stuff around you, like I do, I get confused and in a muddle and don't achieve anything, great advice I much needed, I used to run a craft group and bought loads of kit, so need to use it!
I think we all have a bit of a tendency to buy too much Jan....but it's great to have a go at organisation and also using it up. Having less around you definitely clears the head!! Lovely to see you here, welcome to my channel 😁💜🍄 Joie xx
With some papers and stamps from scrapbook and card making days , I've got a lot of things to use to make my own ephemera. Even things like brushes, paints and watercolors and other craft items. Look around and you might be surprised at what you have.😊....🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️🧡
Great video and great ideas. One thing I also do is, if I have paper/fabric that I like I often take photocopies and then I use for cards or journals xx
That is a very good idea. I think I saw Johanna Clough talk about something like that. I have never done it, but will give it a go now. Thanks for sharing, it's great to hear other ideas and suggestions. Take care, joie xxx
Good ideas thanks. I keep my small off-cuts of paper in clear A4 plastic file pockets, in colour themes. For example if I need something in pink to purple tones I have only one pocket to look through. I do the same for card off-cuts too. I stack the pockets upright in a box under my desk. When a pocket is over full, I know it's time to do a project to use up my scraps. Love your videos. Ann
I like your system Ann, including the colour based split of papers across the plastic file pockets. Sounds excellent. Delighted that you visited!! joie xxx
I love your ideas about adding your own handmade embellishments to your junk journal. I like looking at my junk journal and seeing things that I have made rather than seeing manufacturer embellishments. Thank you for creating such great videos!!
You're welcome Jade 😀 I know what you mean about that feel good sense because you made it. I appreciate your kind comments, welcome to my channel!! ❣️ Hope to see you soon, Joie 🌿
Oooh I love that Victorian Flower Album, Joie! You have a knack for finding the most beautiful materials and then how you transform them into something so fabulous, especially your butterfly ephemera. It is a treat to watch your videos and see how you organize your materials. I want to see how you will incorporate the opossum family in an upcoming project. Julia's work is awesome, and should look great in a new journal. Thank you Joie for joining in the live stream and for all the support you have shown me. Hugs to you!
Dena, you are welcome. You have a relaxing and welcoming manner on your streams, so for a beginner painter I feel happy about that. Thank you for such an awesome comment. I really appreciate it. joie xx
Love all your ideas! Funny how, while watching this, things came to mind that I should be doing. Simple things that I should have thought of, lol "should have thought of"! I guess I better keep watching videos to remember things I forgot, lol...
Must. Get. Organized. 😁 Thank you for another great video. I've been to thrift stores to buy old books. Just haven't used them yet. Another goal for me. I need to start writing these down. x Marieke
Thank you for all of these tips! You did a wonderful job explaining and showing everything. And I love that nothing looks cheap, everything looks beautifully done. 💓
New subscriber, this year my goal is to buy less and use my collection. It's so easy to just click and buy. RUclips recommend your channel I am so glad I found you. Awesome tips to use what we have and make our own. Tfs Farah ❤️
Well Farah CJ, I like the way you are talking!! It's fun to find new ways of using what we have. Yes indeed, it's just so easy to click and buy!! Welcome to this channel and to the family of viewers. Hope to see you again soon. Joie xx
No problem Misty. Due to you I have now opened a Twitter account - you my friend, have definitely sent traffic to my channel. I think that you tweeted one of my videos and I can see the effect in the analytics. So very grateful. You are awesome..same time next week. joie xxx
I also wanted to tell you that here in the US, our Library of Cogress has an on-line website that allows you to download thousands of images that are in public domain for free. There are no restrictions for use....there are images of birds, animals, people and so much more.
Wow!! I didn't even think of using my card stock, stamping it and making my own ephemera!! Thank you so much for replying to my comment or else I wouldn't have found you, your ideas were so helpful, happy subscriber and it's been years since I've been to a carboot sale but I'm with you on the charity hunt, I've found some amazing plant books and art books in good old Oxfam, and Yes it can be costly to do any form of art but my goal this year is to buy less and use whatever I have already for my junk/art journal's. Thank you so Much!! And do you have an Instagram? Would love to follow you there. ❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺
I'm also trying very hard to use what I have 😀. I think that you found me on Instagram. Thank you so much for such a positive and supportive message...I really do appreciate it. Hope to see you again soon. Joie ❣️🌿😀
WOW! I've sort of binge watched your videos this afternoon! Subbed, liked and can't wait to watch more! You even have me thinking I might be able to draw flowers and paint...ha, ha, ha!!! Those yellow & pink papers your friend sent you are AMAZING! So happy I stumbled on your channel!!!
Well I'm delighted to welcome you on board!! I'm also learning as I try out new techniques, but it's a lot of fun and great to connect with others who share our paper passion😀 Let's do this!!! 👍🏻 Thank you SO MUCH ❣️ Joie 🌿
Yeah I just started my hobby of junk journaling and shopping a lot for all kinds of paper craft things and boy it does get expensive you’re right and so I’ve been learning to buy books from the thrift store to cut out for ephemera and buy them cheap or on the marketplace on Facebook and stuff and buy music sheets at the Goodwill’s if I can find them and I’m just learning little tricks just by watching RUclips videos of how to expand my ephemera
Sounds like you are on the right path. It can get expensive otherwise...but there is even more fun to be had if we hunt down these treasures, as you describe. Keep it up Linda, and thanks for visiting!! Lots more videos on my channel... enjoy! Joie 💜🌿
Thank you so much for your very useful tips for our ever growing love for junk journals. Your suggestions will be use my me and so many others as well! Thank you for sharing your talents.
Oh Susanna, yes that paper from the swap is so vibrant and pretty! Lovely to see you here, I don't recall chatting before, so thank you very much for watching and commenting. Hope to see you again soon. Take care, Joie ❣️🌿
New to your channel...and so glad I found you! I love this video...using what you have! I have lost my "mojo" and you have inspired me! Looking forward to getting out stamps, paint and scraps and start creating!! Love your ideas!
Oh Pam B, I am sure that you'll have lots of fun and find that mojo when you have a rummage in your stamp, paint and scraps collection. So many different things to create and enjoy 😀 Delighted that you found my channel, welcome on board! Take care, joie 🌿❣️
great ideas!!!! I wasn't sure what a car boot was but on reading some of the comments I see it is a yard sale or garage sale kind of thing??? I have one good thrift store but they lack in the book department but my city has huge used book sales twice a year and proceeds go to charity. That is where I have managed to pick up some books. I had to be brave to cut the first one up!!!! Always enjoy your videos!!!!!
Hello Maureen!! Yes a car boot here in the north of England is normally on some parkland. It's where families come to sell their stuff to declutter and make a bit of money. So like a yard sale definitely. So pleased to see you here ❣️❣️🌿👍🏻 joie
This video is so relevant for the situation in the World today where e everything has gong up in price. I do wish for moore of this type of videos 😍 thank you so mutch for sharing 🙏❤🏵🌺🌼🌹🌻
The organization part rings chimes for me. It is so helpful to have everything in an orderly fashion when creating. I believe it is a must to stay on top of the order .... which is something I can struggle with. Thanks for sharing... I enjoyed your video!!
Interesting to hear that Kim. I agree. It's definitely an ongoing challenge in the craft room. Thanks so much for watching and for leaving a comment. Very much appreciated. Joie ❣️🌿
I really like the effect the micah has on the papers, but I can't afford them. This year my local dollarama store has glitter paints, which diluted with water look very nice. I'm learning to adapt and enjoy it. TFS. Have a great year ahead. Stay safe and healthy.
Hi Joie, Lizzie sent me to your channel since I like to make journals too! Greetings from Michigan USA! Happy New Year! Let’s do this paper craft sharing! Blessings!
Divine, that's so nice of you to say so....and WOW that turtle that you painted. You have a super positive vibe on your channel....2019 is going to be great for your channel!! joie xxx
Ooh hello Linda! Thanks for catching up this way. I'm hoping to do another Premiere on Saturday. Thanks very much for taking the time to pop over here and for leaving a comment. Take care, Joie ❣️🌿😀
these are great ideas, I love this video! I really like the idea of making your own ephemera and having it handy. thanks for all these great ideas, Joie! One thing I do sometimes is to have clusters of fabric or different papers already glued or sewed together to pop onto a page.
Those are excellent supplies to use, great that they are cheap or free too! I'll think about using postcards more myself, thank you. I appreciate your visit here; hope to see you soon. Take care, Joie ❣️🌿😀
I use a lot of free travel brochures too. Usually if we are traveling somewhere by car. My husband always wants to drive and that means I can create in the car. ❤️
Such great info. All of these tips are really money savers. I’m a new subbie and have watched a few of your videos. Can’t wait to watch more. I could listen to your voice all day! I’m from the US so we do sound a lot different! Lol Hugs!🤗 Happy Day 💖🌸💖
Well that's lovely!! Thank you 🥰 My more recent videos are probably a bit better...well maybe 😁 Welcome to my channel, from England to Florida, I'm waving. Joie 🌿💜
Wow! Sorry didn’t get the life I meant to. What a great video loved how you are organised! I have enough for what I do but need to get organised myself. Thank you for some great ideas. 😀
Hey Carl, it's just lovely to see you here, and you say such useful and nice things. I do really appreciate that. Being organised is an ongoing challenge. Maybe catch you next week, and I will probably see you on another stream sometime during the week. Take care and have fun crafting. joie xxx
It's Angie!! I would have a done a live stream after the Premiere, but I've got a horrible cold...so hopefully next week we'll do that. I keep seeing you on a stream...you're rocking it!! joie xxx
It's only 11 minutes...easy to miss...I'm super grateful to see you here!!! I'll have another go next Saturday...doing a Premiere is a lot of fun. We had 33 people all chatting away...take care Michelle, joie xxx
Thanks Amy. Can you feel something good happening for us in 2019? So much fun and positivity!! Your channel has a great upbeat feel to it. Thanks for stopping by. See you on the next Premiere I hope. Hugs, joie xx
Another really nice video. You always have great ideas. I have made “home made” stickers. What I do is use sticker paper and draw or stamp on it and fussy cut them out. TFS! 😊❤️
Very helpful video. I tried to start a journal but gave up until I can get some supplies. I have paints but I need pretty paper and I need ink for my stamps.
I am one of those people who finds incredible bargains on eBay. I have purchased several flora books, a few were Edith Holden books. . I look for free shipping.
I like the sound of those Edith Holden books! Free shipping makes a real difference too. Great tips! Thanks for sharing G F, lovely to see you here. Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment too. joie
That's fantastic Ruth. Julia really knows her stuff so it's great to be able to collaborate with her. And very kind words from you. Thank you!! Joie ❣️🌿
Hi there Joie, tfs your brilliant tips, just subscribed... Popped over from Shabbydabbydoodah... 😁 😁 😁... I love having a browse in the charity shops, you never know what you'll find... 😊😊😊Xx
Awesome!! And yes a good rummage in the charity shops is just so satisfying! Thank you for giving my channel a try. Hope to see you again soon! Joie ❣️🌿
Hi Amy, if you mean the little journaling cards I just cut them with my Fiskars trimmer and round the corners with my little corner rounder. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question 😁👍🏻❣️
Hello Sue. I got them in a shop in the UK called The Pound Shop, but I think they're available in other shops like Home Bargains and sometimes Asda. They're not from a craft shop....are you in the UK? Hope this helps... joie 💜🌿
I have been cutting out my favourite pictures from some wide washi tape which I haven't used much until now. They make lovely textured stickers.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing, and for watching 😁 joie 🌿❣️
Car boot sales are my favourite haunt for craft supplies - not only paper - it’s a great challenge to search out all sorts of materials. Roll on the spring.

Great ideas.. I love it.. looks very nice.. nice collections too.. big thumbs up for this video 👍 have a great day Joie 😊
Aahhh Dixit my friend, thank you!!! joie xxx

Great suggestion and feedback, thanks so much!!💜
Great video! tfs
You're very welcome ❣️ Joie 😁🌿
Adapting is a great approach..I also do that! Thanks for popping by Monique!🥰👍💜
Hi Joie,
Lizzie sent me to your channel since I like to make journals too! Greetings from Michigan USA! Happy New Year! Let’s do this paper craft sharing! Blessings!

I like that cluster idea, very useful for being prepared for a journal spread. Thank you so much for the visit and for the comment. joie xxx
I use postcards which are cheep and travel brochures, tourist leaflets, catalogs which are all free.
What a fantastic use of your time...thanks for sharing Andrea!! 👍🏻 Joie ❣️🌿

Another good one is Magpie Music. No p and p!
I like that!! 😄
Another really nice video. You always have great ideas. I have made “home made” stickers. What I do is use sticker paper and draw or stamp on it and fussy cut them out. TFS! 😊❤️
Great idea.....I like that Vicki 😁💜
Very helpful video. I tried to start a journal but gave up until I can get some supplies. I have paints but I need pretty paper and I need ink for my stamps.
Thanks very much! 🥰 👍
You did .good
Thanks!!! 👍🏻❣️🌿
Appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment too. joie
same here, eBay is where I find most of my bargains
@@elenap3096 exciting to find them too! 👍🏻😀 joie 🌿❣️

Hi there Joie, tfs your brilliant tips, just subscribed... Popped over from Shabbydabbydoodah... 😁 😁 😁... I love having a browse in the charity shops, you never know what you'll find... 😊😊😊Xx

Thank you Sugar...what a great channel name!! joie xxx
Do you have a punch to make all the different kinds of cards.
Hi Amy, if you mean the little journaling cards I just cut them with my Fiskars trimmer and round the corners with my little corner rounder. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question 😁👍🏻❣️
It hurt to see those books getting ready to be distroid. They are so beautiful. ☹😟
I do know what you mean....:(
Where did you buy the wallets?
Hello Sue. I got them in a shop in the UK called The Pound Shop, but I think they're available in other shops like Home Bargains and sometimes Asda. They're not from a craft shop....are you in the UK? Hope this helps... joie 💜🌿
What size is your journal
It's an A5 size, so about 21 cm by 15cm wide.
These are great ideas ...thank you.
😁👍🏻❣️❣️❣️
