These tv specials were a must see for any kid and they kept making them for a long time. One memorable one from the 1980's was hosted by Roddy Piper. It's too bad these kind of things can't be made anymore.

Oh. My. God. I must have this! I remember seeing Rick on Sonny & Cher, and then a year later watching this and faithfully watching Mission: Magic every week. I now have it on DVD (along w/ most iof those other shows previewed), and at age 45, I still have my Saturday morning magic, along w/ a bowl of sugar coated goodness every week! Thanks so much for posting this!!

Thanks Josh Schreiber for sharing this video. I remember when the Big Three tv networks still produced animation, and Saturday Morning Cartoons were a big event. Now, there are 24 hour cartoon cable channels, and websites that offer cartoon instantly at a mouse click. I remember when these Sneak Peaks were events I anticipated to see the next season of shows.
I feel nostalgia for that era even though it was still in the middle of the dreaded Cold War. Avery Schreiber was a funny, talented man.

Hey Josh: I was able to tell your dad how much I enjoyed his & Jack's comedy as a kid when I worked with him on Days of our Lives in the early 90s. We ate lunch together in the NBC commissary a few times too. That meant more to me than working on the soap. Years later I saw him on the picket line during the 2000 SAG strike. Avery was a true talent and genuine great guy! I'm going to watch every one of the videos you've shared. Thank you.

This is truly a classic item! a Saturday morning preview from Fall 1973,when most of the cartoon shows that Fall were mostly based on classic TV series, which was very, very rare!
this ABC-TV sneak peak special, though edited, saw the debut of "SUPER FRIENDS" (1973-1986) "LASSIE'S RESCUE RANGERS","MISSION:MAGIC",and "GOOBER AND THE GHOST CHASERS",that featured animated guest appearances by some of "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY" cast, one year before CBS's "PARTRIDGE FAMILY 2200 A.D." in Fall 1974,,and of course,"The SATURDAY SUPERSTAR MOVIE" second season opener,"LOST IN SPACE",which was recently released on the "LOST IN SPACE" BluRay set. but given the appearance of Jack Burns and Avery Schreiber,it is pretty interesting, especially since NBC used the two of these guys for their "Two In a Taxi" Fall 1966 sneak peak-pretty classic stuff,,but then,so was Saturday morning TV,back when the cartoon studios were in full bloom-not to mention seeing Batman and Superman together for the first time,in an TV special, some 45 years before their soon to be released "BATMAN V SUPERMAN:Dawn Of Justice" movie-an amazing bit of trivia!

... I think this may include the only complete version of the Mission Magic theme song. (In the actual show opening, the song fades out in the middle of the last chorus)
Edit: I'm wrong, there was an *album* made from the show's songs, and there's a full version there.

This is very, very RARE!! it was aired on Sept.7th,1973 on ABC,one day before all three
of the networks at that time, aired their cartoons on Sept 8,1973-and ABC began its
    line-up with the debut of "SUPER FRIENDS",which went-on to run,until 1985,along with
"LASSIE'S RESCUE RANGERS","MISSION MAGIC",and the second season primiere
of "THE SATURDAY SUPERSTAR MOVIE" opener,"LOST IN SPACE",which of course
was based on Irwin Allen's TV series-this was a great period for Weekend TV!

Batman does not sound like Adam West. It was around 4 years after Batman 66 ended. This does mark the first time that a version of Batman 66 meets Superman. For some reason Chuck Woolery doesn't get enough recognition for play a live action version of Superman. Stilll would love to find that back half of this show,

The bit with the kid getting a glass of water gave me a chuckle. I mean, even if a person holds still, someone's bound to notice....unless the boy was assuming that bugs was a throw-rug and Rick was a cool new statue. Round little guy comes out in feetie pajamas...the kid just looks funny.
I start riffing like the guys from MST3K: "*oogh* Gonna get water...thirsty...lights on...hi, Chuck Woolery in a Superman outfit...Lassie......I'll just step over Bugs Bunny here...Eeyup....tall pretty guy in white with invisible dog...oh well...water...hi, Batman....I saw nothing, just half asleep & getting water....*gulp gulp* here's the glass, Uncle....goodnight!"

I was a child of the 80's and I remember these "Sneak Peak" things, too. Saturday Morning used to be awesome. Sometimes certain innovations in Cable TV suck the wonder out of things. No more Saturday Morning TV and the quality of News journalism is crap. I'm not one to fall into the "Old dork who laments the new generation/new technology schtick" but some things I just miss. "A 'Smurfs', a bowl of 'S'mores Crunch' & me". I miss those days...they had a certain...(Aussie Rick voice) "MAGIC".

Another example of very RARE material from ABC's Saturday Morning TV line-up from Fall 1973 as Jack Burns & Avery Schreiber introduce ABC's cartoon line-up on Friday, September 7, 1973. Burns & Schreiber previously hosted NBC's Fall 1966 TV preview, "Two In A Taxi", so seeing these two guys usher in the cartoons for Fall 1973 on ABC was historic, given that all the Saturday morning cartoons that were launched by the TV networks in Fall 1973 were all spinoffs of popular live-action shows of the 60s, as exampled with NBC's "STAR TREK" from Filmation Associates and Roddenberry's Norway Productions banner, and "LASSIE'S RESCUE RANGERS", based on ABC's SATURDAY SUPERSTAR MOVIE" segment, "Lassie And The Spirit Of Thunder Mountain" in Fall 1972, and the return of the Super Heroes since their cancelation in 1969, as ABC debuted "SUPER FRIENDS", from the ratings success of "Batman & Robin" s guest appearance on CBS's "THE NEW SCOOBY-DOO MOVIES" in Fall 1972, and "Cindy's Super Friend" segment from "THE BRADY KIDS" also in Fall 1972, but in the case of "SUPER FRIENDS" first TV season (1973-74) ABC had hired Child Psychologist Haim Ginnott as a consultant, so that the actions of the Super Friends were not violent like the previous Filmation cartoons on CBS in the late 1960s that resulted in parental backlash which led to their removal from the Saturday morning schedules by 1969.
