The depths of the earth are an unforgiving place, and Hollyleaf was unfortunate enough to get trapped there. She discovers hope of escape when a curious (and timid) spirit, Fallen Leaves, offers to be her guide. He has the power to glow, providing Hollyleaf with the light she needs to navigate the tunnels.
This power isn’t unlimited. Fallen Leaves’ whiskers burn up the more he uses it. When the two get separated in the tunnels, Fallen Leaves uses up his whiskers in an attempt to find Hollyleaf. The drawings on the wall come to life, reflecting the spirit’s panic. Hollyleaf is more calm when lost, working gradually through the tunnels in search of her guide.
Hollyleaf finds Fallen Leaves when he’s used up all his lights and fading away. Fallen Leaves comes to peace in his final moments now that he’s reunited with his friend. Perhaps they would’ve been able to escape together if Hollyleaf searched faster, or if Fallen leaves rationed his lights out more.

The project was conceptualized on November 12th, 2021, when I was listening to "Doubt Comes In" during my Digital Media class. It's a song that makes me emotional each time. I've learned a lot from the MAPs I've been hosting and it felt appropriate to use Hollyleaf and Fallen Leaves for the narrative of Eurydice and Orpheus (... again). Although Eurydice is the one we lose in the original myth, I felt this version of the story worked better if it was Fallen Leaves who passed on. Pre-production started in June/July of 2022 and I'm grateful my friends were enthusiastic to help. A lot of changes happened to the story and art direction, but a theme that remained constant was love and light. Fallen Leaves inspires Hollyleaf to gain confidence and acts as a beacon of hope.
It was a pleasure to work with all of the participants. I met a lot of artists and they truly gave the project their all. I hope you all will see passion and dedication everyone put into this MAP.

Dang- I almost cried during this one. The symbols mixed with the art is amazing! By the way the murals on the walls move to represent how Lanturn Leaves feels and Holly picking up the firefly in the caves and setting it free in the wild, like she was freeing Lanturn leaves from the caves. All the animators who worked on this are amazing. I tip my non-existent hat to Hollyfawn and Lanturn leaves for an awesome Hollyween :)

I LOVED THIS! The designs were so fun and unique, yet not too complicated! Everyone's parts were so smooth, and I loved the raw emotions behind the ending. The firefly flying into the sun as a way to still "watch" Hollyleaf is so cool

This was so emotional. I feel so bad for FallenLeaves, it’s sad that they found each other but got split up again. Hollyleaf is having a good time yet FallenLeaves is so alone and scared, his death scene was just AAHH WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THIS :(( this was amazing, happy HOLLYWEEN!

I absolutely adore the Warriors MAPs we get nowadays. The way they do different themes and picture how it would be in this way and different ways it could've happened in this different area, story take based off of old tale, or MYTH! So it's quite amazing to see this take based off of the Greek tale. I think.

This MAP is super neat- I noticed that as Fallen'Leaves was losing hope she started losing whiskers, so that's cool.

I didn’t know anything about this MAP before watching it in full, but WOW this is easily one of the most consistent and transformative MAPs I’ve seen. I love Hadestown to absolute bits and the story and direction completely changed the context of this song for an equally compelling story.
