  • Here is a clear visual explanation of the difference between good and bad chi (also known as Qi) which is the energy in a space in Feng shui. this is very very basic, and does not cover everything, but I hope it is at least helpful for the newer ones out there!
    Please feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section! Please comment on what else you'd like to see, most of my videos are on Tiktok, but here is where I do not need to rush! :)

    As someone with a bit of lay-knowledge of fluid dynamics, it helped me to understand good chi as being more 'turbulent' and bad chi as more 'streamlined', despite the connotations of those usually being reversed. Which makes sense, when you think about the fact that airplanes and living spaces are generally designed with opposite objectives in mind. An airplane is designed to move as many people as possible as quickly as possible while still being safe - comfort is the last priority. A home ought to be designed with as many areas as possible that you can comfortably dwell in for a while and feel safe, because the main priorities are protection and comfort.

      Idk about turbulent. It's like, you don't want standing water or raging rapids or a dangerous undercurrent. You want a gentle stream

      @@karakaaa3371 Turbulence is independent of flow rate. Slow moving fluids can still be very turbulent

    • @fdota
      @fdota 8 месяцев назад

      I think if we think about it in fluid dynamic terms, the characterisation of the chi as good or bad would depend more on flow rate rather than level of turbulence. I propose that you want to arrange things in such a way that the flow rate is matched for a given area's purpose. Not so fast as to create anxiety but not so slow as to be lonely and dull. Or maybe flux would be a better measure? Creating turbulence would then be a means to an end, rather than the end itself.

    • @victoriab8186
      @victoriab8186 Месяц назад

      Consider it in terms of skyscraper design - you want to avoid having strong wind forces around your skyscraper, as that can stress specific bits of the building, so you can design for turbulent flow to minimise the strength of the forces - which might align with some of the things you want to do with the energy you feel in a room

    Love your videos. I have one request/suggestion: to make sure the rooms designs are practical and 'healthy', following feng shui principles. For example, you divided the rooms to reduce bad chi, which protects the bedroom, which is good. However, the rooms themselves would then be difficult to move through as the divider takes up a lot of space to block the chi.
    I also appreciate that your designs are just models and not the reality of a real-life situation. Still, it is just a thought I have been adding recently when breaking down large spaces into separate ones that you then can create 'congestion' of chi in the areas around the dividers. :D
    Let me know what you think :)

      You're free to dismiss it as much as you want, but a lot of it is basically an abstract way to explain a lot of stuff in biological psychology. The command position for chair placement and such, is designed to give you the most heads up on anyone that would intrude upon you. It's maintaining the most optimal defense position. And we intuitively prefer being in it. Several decor placement decisions use many art theory techniques to induce certain responses based on visuals (like "look towards the right" and such). It's just using flavor text to explain it rather than heavy scientific terms.
