It will also warm you up on a cold day. (Same with the pants.)Your choice of color was outstanding! Thanks for a great video!
The pink highlights Your charming personality and skin art. Love it!!!
Literally the best great reviews I've ever seen!
Finally a youtube gear review with a little humor in it. Keep em coming!
I love this! I please do more videos of dirt cheap gear for dirt bag hikers. I’d love to see reviews of “piece of tyvek I pulled from the trash” and “gold toe dress socks from goodwill”. The possibilities are endless.
Killin' That PINK!
Hike On,
Darwin
Darwin onthetrail some of my favorite people are pink on the inside!
lol....
Hike On,
Darwin
You are pretty funny 😄👍
I have to agree with your review. Frogg Toggs has been my go to rain jacket for UL backpacking. Inexpensive, breathable (fairly), lightweight, and if I all but destroy it, easily repaired with the ultimate fix-all, duct tape. And, if I do destroy it, my wallet doesn't cry when I need a new one. Oh...you rock the pink!!! Happy trails.
Great video. I appreciate info from people that do the long trails.
Such a hilarious and awesome review. Way better than the standard RUclips gear reviews out there. haha
I have no idea what I'm doing.
yo i love lint. i like the music in the beginning too. and saggitarius is definitely the best one. thanks for bringing your personality to youtube lint
Stephen Hanrahan the music reminded me of that Ren & Stimpy cartoon I grew up with. Had to use it.
darn i think i was a little young for that lol. ill have to check it out
100% entertaining... and good info. Thanks for taking the time!
It’s less like Tyvek and more like the bibs you wear at the dentist. I remember thinking years ago that the dentist bibs would be a heck of a material to make something with. Mr Toggs must have had the same idea!
I put some shock cord through the bottom hem and added line locks to mine. There’s a channel that goes all the way around the jacket through the hem. I use the shockcord more for keeping warm in the winter than dry in the summer.
YES! An umbrella video plz!!!!!!!!!!
Love your sense of humour!
Great review. I'm currently using their poncho. If it's not too windy, it will half-ass cover your pack as well.
Always fun, hilarious and informative.
Saw Darwin's video about your trowel. So, I subscribed. You owe me, man!
Keep making vids ! Loved the review , this is gonna be the new trend now !
Steve Pekarskiy if I did it with Altras, I can do it with pink Frogg Toggs
Lint Hikes right on ! A splash of color on a gray rainy day is sure to brighten someone mood : )
You've changed my mind! Pink it is!
Thanks for the review! And a really good laugh 😂
Thanks Lint! Radio Jeff here... Barefoot Jake Hikes the Olympics also swears by Frogg Toggs...and he also espouses the umbrellas.
Lint, In your 2017 5lb Gear video by Beardsworld - you had a Montbell Sun umbrella you were experimenting with. How did you find the Montbell Sun Umbrella compared to the Gossamer Gear Umbrella? Thanks Lint - Blue Boy
Yes. Perfect. Thank you. I'd love to see some reviews on any sort of synthetic garments, bags, etc. that you're into these days.
Anthony Bruno hoo boy, yer gonna love my new synthetic jacket review coming out soon. I got the hookup on something to replace my down puffy and it’s legit.
SICK!
This review video was pretty clever and the pink jacket is DOPE!
I didn’t think you could get any better looking. Then I saw you in pink.
Patrick Holland My milkshake brings all the hikers to the yard
Love your humor
Thank you for your review. Do you think a 5 foot 4 woman could wear it over myself, but also over my backpack (a virga 2 I'm considering purchasing) if I'd get a male XL frog togg? Thank you.
Diana L. Hard to say, but I doubt it.
Do you or have you ever used wind pants before? I use to always carry rain pants but seemed to never use them, or if I did I would sweet so bad and overheat that I ended up taking them off and getting my legs wet anyways. So what I’m now going more towards is shorts and leggings and then maybe some wind pants, looking for your thoughts about that. This past summer I hiked the JMT, didn’t carry rain pants and was fine, a bit uncomfortable when it had ice cold rain/hail a few times but ya, figured wind pants would be a good lightweight thing to trap some heat in, any recommendations if u use them
I've carried MontBell windpants, and they work perfect. The Frogg Togg pants work too, but they're SUPER delicate. I've gotten some interesting vent holes in mine...
Hey Lint, are you still out there?
I hope you are well. Your vids...well, your accomplishments inspired me. I got a lot done.
Anyways, hope all is good.
Could you speak about your personal experience with ball chafe in your next video. Thanks.
My fave is the Marmot waterproof windbreaker -you can often find them on sale at Rei- i shopped thoroughly comparing alot of specs and found they have a great bslance of toughness and lightness - mine went for 3 plus years with alot of daily in the cooler months - after that it started to fray at the seams n such - then it got stolen so I just bought another used one online for $45 (normally $200+) -main thing is having pit zips in whatever i buy to maximize temperature control -youbspend extra for that detail but your body spends /waist alot of energy on temp control so its worth it
Started as a cheapskate newbie with FroggToggs. Haven’t found a reason to upgrade.
I’ve not taken the pants out on trail yet. Do you use the FT pants in the rain?
No reason to upgrade, they're legit. I stopped using the Frogg Togg pants tho since they always tear on me. I prefer windpants for most hiking...if anything at all.
Hilarious! an now I need a pink rain jacket also! 🤣 keep making the vids man!
Pink is your color dude!! Love it!
Did you know pink used to be considered a male color a 100 years ago? Used to be pink for boys, blue for girls!
Lint Hikes I did not know that, Saw a big dude in Venice yesterday. Long pink hair, brown beard, pink sweats & uggs. He was rockin the pink big time....and looked fantastic! Mebbe time to change things up again for the next 100 years!!
Very funny!! Gonna enjoy your clips
You win the internets
Love your style, from what i have seen on the videos with you. I was wondering what gear and experience you started of with on your very first thru hike?
johannes Birkholm check my website for some details on gear from my first thru hike in 2003
Did you do an umbrella video? Jupiter in one of his videos says you pair it with bug netting?
Richard Jaques haven’t done one yet, but I’ve been meaning to. I’m terrible at editing video so it’s difficult to get motivated to make new content.
Sizing is always an issue, and one of the reasons it's often no use to buy actual sets of gear bc the size a person needs in a top and in a bottom often don't match. Regardless, it's good to know that the tops accommodate chests in the low 40s (the U.S. average) AND larger ones like mine as well. Finding one that doesn't also go down to my knees would be the issue. ;)
My friend T.J. and I (you met us on Eagle Creek trail back in June) were just talking about Frogg Toggs last night over a Scotch and Cigar. And now this video. What a coinky dinky. Happy Trails. P.S. - my Toggs are yellow, but I hate the color. Go Beavers. Reid "Scotch" Sanford
Frogg Toggs are scotch proof, so worry not about spilling that booze down the front of your torso. I'll let you know if they become available in orange.
That was wildly entertaining and informative !
thanks!
Wearing that pink like a boss!
TheGoatMumbler I’m so darn politically correct, I don’t even see color. Except red...only dirty commies wear red. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Cool! Another chill hiker making awesome content on YT :) Subscribed!
Pink is amazing :)
Love it man!
that pink is great!
I would love to see a video about your love affair with umbrellas and one(s) you like best!! ☂️☂️☂️
my first thru-hike will be AT2020 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Stephanie Bynum I’ve been meaning to do an umbrella comparison video. Maybe I’ll do one this week? Thanks for the encouragement
Great vid!
I like your style Dude!
I certainly don't take myself too seriously, so I don't expect anyone else to either.
Keep up the awesome videos Lint!!! Love the content; funny, and informative. Quick question for you, in your opinion which do you like better the MLD Burn, or the Pa'lante Simple Pack?
They're both great packs, and I own multiples of each in different fabrics. Like everything else, there is no "right pack" for everyone, so you'll have to try them both out for yourself and come to your own conclusion. Either way you go, you're on the right path because they are both excellent choices.
Much appreciated Lint!! You are definitely right I have to get both to fully figure it out. Thanks brotha and looking forward to more content from ya!
Just found your channel. Awesome vid.
Nice review. I found that if put mine in a big zip lock it kept the Frog Tog from getting damaged in the pack
That's a good idea!
Good stuff Lint
Only $14.50 @your Amazon link!! Awesome sauce!
I replaced my old tan toggs with some blue ones and this video made me question this decision. You could draw some butterflies or flamingos on yours to keep up with current thru hiker fashions.
OMG FLAMINGO TOGGS!
Flamingo duct tape for patches!
Can you post an affiliate link for the men's ultralight jacket so that there's more color options and so you can get a kick back?
Done! I think I added a link to the brown/blue version? Lemme know if it works, and thanks for the heads up!
Great video, thanks. Appreciate the fact after all the miles logged, you haven't become a gear snob.
I only wrap my body in the finest of pink trash bags
Great video!
Can anyone tell me if this is actually waterproof. Like 6 hours hiking in rain waterproof? I couldn't find a head rating. Thanks in advance xx
Beca Trebil realistically, no rain jacket you’d take on a hiking trip is that waterproof. They either wet out from sweat, or eventually rain seeps in. Only a PVC jacket is fully waterproof but you’d never hike it that.
That’s why I use an umbrella. THAT is totally waterproof, and used in conjunction with a rain resistant shell, does wonders to keep precipitation at bay.
Looks like the florida trail key west edition frogg toggs....Love it....one in the pink, two in the stink.. 😂
Love the Ren & Stimpy soundtrack!
I'm very glad you also have such excellent taste in music.
Do they fit Gemini?
A friend and I went on a trip and I was pissed that he bought a black jacket. Bright colors make better "tiny hiker in a big landscape" photos.
Erick L they fit all astrological signs. Except Taurus for some reason.
Uh oh I just ordered one and I'm a Taurus. Maybe they don't fit MOST Taurus's because other Taurus folks are stubborn ... but I'm not. Really I'm not, I'm not, I'm not stubborn!!!! Hope it fits :)
Lol - brilliant, Thanks - looking good, but you missed a great opportunity to review the matching pink trousers!
I just cut them into Daisy Duke jorts
Gettin cozy in the van!
Tiny house on wheels!
Lint Hikes hehe love it
Frog Toggs also make great pillows, as long as there not wet.
Wish it came in orange so it could double as a pack cover
The infamous Pink Frogg Toggs...🤣 Finally found you...been getting alot of comments about you! LOL!
Great video lol. Question: is the zipper a waterproof zipper?
t finsa no
Great stuff enjoy vids
The pink jacket definitely makes your eyes pop lol
Funny video. I've never tried out the frogg toggs. I have just upgraded to an Outdoor Research Helium II after using a super bulky/heavy Cabelas rain jacket for years. It is incredibly lightweight at 6.5 ounces. OR also has a great warranty on their gear if anything happens to it. Have you tried out the Helium II? It is 8 times the price of a frogg toggs, do you think it's 8 times better? Worth the cost? Would love to get your impression on it. Also, i've never used an umbrella hiking before....what makes it so great in your opinion?
Love your videos! It's great to get the perspective of such an experienced outdoorsman.
TK I like my OR Helium 2, it’s a great jacket. Definitely won’t tear as easy as a Frogg Toggs. I’ll review mine soon and will definitely be doing an umbrella review in the future.
Thanks for the reply man! Glad to hear you are liking the Helium 2.
I'm more of a backpacker that is now getting into ultrarunning (just finished my 2nd ultra 2 days ago - Deadhorse 50k in Moab) and am now trying to use my newer experiences to lighten my load while backpacking/hiking. Getting more into trail running has really helped me to question why I have been carrying so much crap while backpacking.
Have you thought about making a video detailing your transition into ultralight backpacking? Have you always been lightweight or did you start off with a heavier pack? I would love to learn more about your transition to super light-weight/minimalist gear.
Keep up the videos. It's great to get to learn from you on what works and what hasn't throughout all of your miles on trail.
I'm still learning how to make these weird little videos, but will probably explore all kinds of subjects once I get comfortable on camera
Awesome - when are we getting the umbrella video??
someday. I've been super busy working on projects, but that one is on my list.
Love the pink it is funny!!!😅😉😆
Dude, I'm the same height, weight, and chest, and I have an early December birthday. I pretty much have to go buy some Frogg Toggs now.
Jim Cook they’re pretty sweet. The only downside to the pink women’s model is the arm length. They’re a tad short if ya got a long reach.
I have a long reach, so men's it is.
Hey man, I have been enjoying seeing the food you have been cooking up in the van on instagram. Does eating healthy like that transition to the trail for you? If so I would love to see a video on some trail meals you make. Thanks!
I'm slooowly working on a blog post about food...maybe I'll do a video too! Thanks for the suggestion.
could you please talk about umbrellas? cheers
It's on my list!
so... what size is it again? L female? Nice!
thanks for the review, I'm gonna buy it immediately!
Large female, yes. The arm length is a little short, but it works.
Fellow umbrella lover here! Nice video, I'll both subscribe and buy a jacket on your Amazon link. Been looking for a supplemental rain jacket (mostly just a wind breaker but sometimes on ridges the umbrella doesn't work so a rain jacket would be nice)
mrskivick I find the Frogg Toggs to perfectly compliment an umbrella.
Right on
Check out the frogg toggs xtreme lite
I wish Frogg Toggs would offer a hex tarp of the same fabric. Somewhat heavy, functional, and CHEAP!
Laser Wolf you could make one out of Tyvek, but I think a silnylon tarp would be stronger and lighter...albeit not pink!
Couldn't stop laughing through out the video. Can you do a review on your sleep system? Thanks in advance. --JY
Fashionable tips for those who are hip. A real statement piece to accompany the most sophisticated hiker. Frogg Toggit to the next level with Hot Pink. Ultra-lite for the Ultra-tight budget. Why be blue when Hot Pink is the color for you. Now available at an affiliate link near you.
You should really write ads for Frogg Toggs...that's poetry...
I didn't know they were that light weight. Do you think in the long run you would be better off with a jacket by OR that has a lifetime warranty, pay more once they own for life? Nice video, funny.
I have a hard time returning gear that I thrash on a long hike, even if they offer a lifetime warranty. Feels like I'm taking advantage of their return policy, since the warranty with these companies is usually limited to manufacturers defects. I consider Frogg Toggs to be disposable gear, and at less than $20, you could go through 5 jackets before they became comparable in price to the OR Helium 2. That being said, I love my OR Helium, and often bring it on hikes.
I've been in that van
Sie where on your body did he touch you/slather you with nutella?
Lint. Make a hiking style video: what your typical day looks like. Choices you frequently make. Please!!!!!:)
Someday! I'm still learning how to make these super simple videos...and still messing them up. Instead of doing a bunch of editing, I'm trying to do it in one shot, so it's more real. Anyone can sound like a pro reading cue cards and editing out the pauses in their dialogue!
Lint Hikes. Great. Look forward to all your videos. I’d much rather hear choppy uncut info from a true legend than fancy edited fluff. What ever you can share is gold.
Was that really rain, or was that the first time your girlfriend saw you in that jacket?
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Awesome video! Can you do one about that cool van?
Some day I will!
Thanks.
You're doing great bro! We just wanna listen to you pass on knowledge! And will definitely use the Amazon link. Ps. I'd definitely bang ya in that jacket 😂
Assaultlife5.56 I’m sexy and I know it 💅
haha ..love it
Keep making vids talking about whatever ... Hilarious!
Great. Now I can't get it in pink or I'll be an also-ran.
ugh i wish that colour came in mens 2xl
Pink is the "new" black.
Nice review. Only a real man can pull off pink; and you pulled it off. Seriously, thanks for the review.
A 100 years ago, pink was considered a masculine color, and blue a female color. Google says so, anyway...
More videos!!!
make a video showing your "setup" like all the vanlife ppl make
I will, once I learn more about filming and editing. This is all me practicing....and you lucky dogs get to watch me as I figure it all out!
Hilarious! Thanks
Damn Bro, I already knew you were sexy, but the pink toggs ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I understand that adoring look in Jupiter's eyes. ;)
I just ordered mine so I can TRY to look HALF as cool as you.
I'll start a Lint fan club and we'll all wear pink toggs to show our Love Of Lint (LOL).
Papa Joe, you would make that jacket look nicer than I ever could!
Hahaha, "I think I still have a website" at the end.
I'm so bad with technology. That website has been up for many years and I sometimes forget about it. I'm just here hunting and pecking at my keyboard like an ape, and now making videos where the whole world can see how bad I am with modern stuff! It's like you all get to watch me grow up! "Awww...lookit he learned how to put music on his video! Awww now he edited in a stillshot!" They grow up so fast...
