Years ago, as in 1962, my cousin had a 40 Chrysler sedan that had had a rough beginning. He spent his weekends in San Bernardino and riverside looking for corvettes and exotics. Best sleeper ever.

Maybe you got a bad one. These have had SO many hands put on them. All my dailys from mid 80s til 2002 had carbs points 4 speeds. Never once broke down.
@@gordocarbo been learning a lot since I posted that comment, I definitely got a lemon my friends talked me into getting another classic car and I went out of my way to find a nice one this time, night and day difference I got a really clean 3rd gen Camaro and it drives like a dream!
This is in SD!. Back in the 80's, my brother had a 71 Nova. I was driving it when I was rear ended out in east El Cajon. Caved in the trunk and back bumper. Had to remove the bumper to get to the gas filler. Cops didn't like the bumper not there so we welded an I-beam across the back. At that point I painted in black across the back "Road Warrior". Car was a legend.

Back several years ago I had a 77' Hatchback. I pulled the old 305---dropped a showroom 350---275 HP in its place. I bomb- cannef it CHERRY RED. I hand--lettered the words, "RUFF' CUT" on the rear quarter panel. I raised and 'Beefed' the suspension front and back ( Equally). I eventually pulled the entire rear- end---including leaf springs. A neighbor just happened to have a 3.26 Pontiac complete rear set-up...Axels and ALL. I installed a "Tranni-kit," new, fresh tranni fluid and...WHAM! What a difference. Ruff Cut was a daily driver. I got a LOT of looks and comments.
That car makes me miss my novas. Had a 74 then a 71. The 71 had 55,000 miles on it. Originally 6 cylinder car gold color but was set up for v8 and painted gloss black by time I got it.

Four Speed, growing up with old cars we remember the sounds, like how the door closes, the boing of the springs as the bench seat is set back and how short first gear is and the long wind up through third. I think it’d be worth the effort to mic the car and put these sounds into the clip. Many cars can be identified just by the sounds and they’re cool sounds.
This car is f@#king amazing! Love the black wheels with the poverty caps. Keep up the great work gentlemen (and I use that term loosely). You should do a shoot out between the Midnight Nova (another amazing machine) and the Junk Slayer.
@@FourSpeedFilms lotsa hidden spots in 'dago...in the 70s there were a half dozen spots within 10 miles of the salt flats that were measured and marked for 1/4 mile runs....and as many spots out in east county and the border that were mapped and marked for two up twisty runs.........
There may be newer and there maybe faster, but you are a hundred percent right. Nothing in the world like stomping down the pedal and hearing that 4 barrel open.

I dig the effort a cat puts into making a show car shiny...but i would also love a yard full of cars like this! My latest isn't even my build....I was searching for parts for my Fox body three years ago, when I stumbled over a 1968 4-4-2 in the snow belt...455 with variable duration lifters, the manual valve body THM400 has a switch pitch torque converter so i can pull away in top gear and get 15 mpg or switch from 1900 rpm stall speed to 3300 and do 0-60 in five and a half seconds...all for $4500! The owner was going electric, and the two buyers before me were idiots, so I got her. And she shows her 243,000 miles, what others like to call a barn find, with her rust (but nothing in the frame or pans, and she came with studded snow tires!) and patina'd chrome and bent bumpers. When she wants to run (the little fact no car magazine admits in their articles), I can drive and park her anyplace, no worries about scratches. Its like 1976 all over again, just without the leaded gas.

But I've been on craigslist looking for a Nova, I was even thinking of a 75 SS or even a rare Rally Sport one? I did a 77 Z28 camaro with a 396, 60 over bore 408, 12.5 to 1 pistons LS6 heads, crower cam, holly 750 Double pumper, edelbrock torquer, the carb was angled, Nash 5 speed and 4.11 Posi, the local cops did not like me and I lost my license for a long time lol. So be safe with that light weight car.
