Thanks! This was well worth the wait. The first of the 3 or maybe even 4 iconic Death Proof cars. Funny thing is, I didn't remember seeing the rubber ducky in Convoy (I guess I was too much focused on Ali McGraw 😉), but always thought the hood ornament in Death Proof was a nod to Convoy. The Nova was the perfect model for this first part of the movie. It is not one of the really good looking muscle cars, rather unimpressive from the outside and just because of that the perfect mean machine.

Axel Foley used a worn out Chevy Nova in Beverly Hills Cop, 1984 🎬. I think in the 1987 sequel he rides around CA in a Pontiac GTO convertible or cutlass supreme.
Tarantino loves his classic car movies like we all do. He also put the number plate 938-DAN from Peter Fonda's Charger in "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" on the black Dodge Charger used at the end.

I get that pretty much any 68-72 Nova could have been used for the movie, but if they paid that much attention to the plate numbers, then they would have paid attention to the year on the plates as well. The movie car has 1970 Texas plates, which fall under Texas' Year of Manufacture rule for registration. So for the car to have 1970 plates, the VIN would have had to have been a 1970 VIN. You can't use 1969, 1971, or 1972 plates on 1970 car even though the 69, 70, and 71 plates for Texas are all black letters on a white background.
Number 11- The Nova shown in your thumbnail is actually a 1969. The side marker lights for 68-69 are smaller (like your thumbnail Nova) than the 70-72 (like shown throughout your video). The front hood lip trim for 68 would say "Chevy II" where the 69-72 looks like what's in the thumbnail. Thus, thumbnail car is a 1969.
I didn't remember the movie....until I saw the Challenger with the girl on the hood. I remember they installed window frames on the door windows. So the girl could be tied off to the window frames to do that stunt.

I'm now the 933 like, much better😁👌🏻
@@R.Sole88109 😉
I've been in a 80 mph rollover crash and have to give big props to the stunt driver for doing it by choice.
Oh yeah, also big props to The Most High for sparing my life in that crash, 'cause I likely shouldn't still be here otherwise.
Indeed and dang man, sounds wild. You are lucky indeed to still be around!
Even lesser known fact: one of the wrecked Novas was stored behind Rustys tv and movie car museum for a given length of time...
Where that wreck wound up, is still unknown...
Hmm, interesting.
@@CarStarz42 I live in Memphis, have for 47 years now, I was able to go to Rustys' a few times and speak to him. That is what he told me face to face, this was prolly ten years ago now...
I never got to see it tho, noo...
@@Axial_Andrew Cool👍
Maybe the car from Drive would make a good feature?
Yep, that one is already on my master list to look into. Thanks😉👍
I have a first gen Cummins mud truck painted like this and I’ve had it for so long now that I keep forgetting it’s pant job is based off this movie
Cool, lol 😉👍
Please do "THE CAR"!!
Yep, I did that one way back at the beginning of the channel... ruclips.net/video/FY4QyR509VI/видео.html
The chrome plated Moroso valve cover added an additional 10-15 hp....😆
I wish 😉👍
I get that pretty much any 68-72 Nova could have been used for the movie, but if they paid that much attention to the plate numbers, then they would have paid attention to the year on the plates as well. The movie car has 1970 Texas plates, which fall under Texas' Year of Manufacture rule for registration. So for the car to have 1970 plates, the VIN would have had to have been a 1970 VIN. You can't use 1969, 1971, or 1972 plates on 1970 car even though the 69, 70, and 71 plates for Texas are all black letters on a white background.
True😉
Would love to see one of the Malibu from Drive
That movie is indeed already on my large list of ones to look into. Thanks
Small detail I know, but the Nova in the thumbnail picture has a '68 front bumper.
Lol, yes; it is a replica in the thumbnail 😉
Number 11- The Nova shown in your thumbnail is actually a 1969. The side marker lights for 68-69 are smaller (like your thumbnail Nova) than the 70-72 (like shown throughout your video). The front hood lip trim for 68 would say "Chevy II" where the 69-72 looks like what's in the thumbnail. Thus, thumbnail car is a 1969.
Yep, it's a replica in the thumbnail 😉
Surprised Quentin didn't have a foot shaped hood ornament
Lol
I didn't remember the movie....until I saw the Challenger with the girl on the hood. I remember they installed window frames on the door windows. So the girl could be tied off to the window frames to do that stunt.
😉👍
I miss my 68 nova and wish it was rotten so bad, probably would still have it
Yeah, Novas are great indeed, until that happens, which is the fate of many classics unfortunately.
🏆
😉👍
Will you please do one on born to run mustang .
Yep, that one is already on my large list to look into 😉👍
Have you done Planes Trains & Automobiles trashed K car woody convertible?
That one is indeed already on my list, just waiting for Thanksgiving to do that one 😉👍
That Diecast model replica looks like big block Chevy engine
Quite possibly
what about death race mustang?it is a monster of a car
Yes please. Such an awesome car, I even built myself a Hot Wheels Replica of it.
Indeed, I do intend to cover some death race cars, both from the original movie and the later ones 😉👍
Can you do Mike 69 dodge charger too since it was also in death proof
Yep, all the Death Proof muscle cars are on my to do list, but honestly that list is so massive at this point it'll probably a year or more before I get back around to cover other cars in the same movies I've already touched on once. But, I'll eventually get to them all 😉👍
@@CarStarz42 I just wanna let you know I love your channel it’s so interesting I learned a lot about vehicles on screen that I need information I didn’t even know about I hope I’m not pressuring you or anything
@@dylanpeterson6442 Very glad to hear you are enjoying the channel and no pressure at all, lol. I've literally had hundreds of suggestions from viewers at this point and I appreciate them all🙂👍
Nova and Chevelles are the best 70s muscle cars
😉👍
Hi
Howdy
Wonder what the 0-60 on this is
Probably not bad considering the power output it has now 😉
Right car but should have been a 4 door and in a stock greenish color
😉
I have seen one in germany that was said it is a Stunt car, and has all the papers, so that will mean, the car is fake that i have seen two years ago 🤔
Possibly, but who knows where they toured the one that was in the UK for a few years; could have been that one 😉
@@CarStarz42 ruclips.net/video/FZtUWXBqGBo/видео.htmlsi=uhsZ0MX6c0zMLtLI
In the models they look big block not small block lol
Indeed, but who wouldn't want that over a 350? 😉👍
I hated the movie. The story sucked. It just seemed like it was written around trying to replicate all the good car movies.
Well, it was and the story was weak indeed; but the way I look at it, it was a movie with classic muscle car action and a couple hot babes, so who gives a damn about the story? 😉
Terrible movie. Great car.
People definitely watch it for the cars and hot chicks; not the story, lol 😉
😂 ford didn't make a nova?
😉
