I saw Alanis in concert at Wembley London back in the 90's. She was phenomenal. At the end of the show about 150/200 of us were asked to hang around. Once the arena had cleared she came back out and done an acoustic set on her own just for the small crowd. One of the best shows I've ever been to.

I've always loved this goddess. Jagged Little Pill album is always in my top 10 90's albums. I have bought every one of her albums and have never been disappointed. I bought the City Of Angels soundtrack just because her song was on it. Other good songs on the soundtrack, but her song, Uninvited, was the reason I bought it lol.
Alanis is a really intelligent person and a soulful person. She's interesting. I didn't remain engaged with her music after her second album, but her most recent album that came out within the past couple of years is very good, albeit darker than her earlier music. She promoted it with an interview in her library and the interviewer asked her what her favorite books are-they were all about psychology, psychiatry, neurocognition, child rearing. It never would occur to me to choose such didactic books as favorite books, but it certainly is in keeping with the spirit of her music. One thing you may notice is that she writes a lot of "list songs" that list a lot of disparate things: -You live, you learn, you choke, you learn -I feel drunk, but I'm sober/I'm young and I'm underpaid/I'm tired, but I'm working, yeah/ I care, but I'm restless/I'm here, but I'm really gone -Thank you India/Thank you terror/Thank you disillusionment/Thank you frailty/Thank you consequence/Thank you, thank you silence -I don't want to be the filler if the void is solely yours/I don't want to be your glass of single malt whiskey/Hidden in the bottom drawer/I don't want to be a bandage if the wound is not mine/Lend me some fresh air/ I don't want to be adored for what I merely represent to you/I don't want to be your babysitter/You're a very big boy now/ I don't want to be your mother The last one above is from "Not the Doctor," which is my favorite song of hers based on line delivery. She really has a knack for rhythm and cadence, almost a sung-rap type of performance, when she delivers lines that shouldn't really mesh well together based on rhyme and syllables, but she always pulls it off. Alanis was the victim of her own success. Jagged Little Pill was such an enormous success that her songs were played on radio stations incessantly for years to the point I think many of us tired of hearing them, and bg the time her second album came out, people didn't want to hear any more of her. I recommend a few of my favs from Alanis: 1. Front Row: that feeling of early relationship butterflies, but it won't last. 2. Eight Easy Steps: Very different but a vocally punch-packing personal song. 3. Baba: a dark and violent spearhead into a certain spiritualism with one of the most beautiful endings I've heard. 4. So Pure: truly a feel-good song. Feel like a kid again. 5. Joining You: Best Chorus award for me. Dark lyrics/vibe but a powerful message. I've obviously been a big fan for a long time. That is actually my favorite song on the album. Seeing her perform it live was awesome. All the lights went out except 1 single spotlight that shone straight down on her.
Definitely!
After all these years I can still sing along word for word 😋
Could u do Sheryl Crow "All I Wanna Do" I likes that one.
Also do some Berlin "The Metro" or anything from them.
🤘💀👍
My sister was named after her!
You guys are reviving and enhancing my appreciation for Alanis, whom I'd pretty much ignored since the 90's. Shame on me. You're choosing great songs from her, too. THANKS!
Absolutely one of the best songs she ever did, IMHO. And the reason I bought the CD.
Oh, and Brad. That "little thing" at the end where she goes soft and high? Basically called a "flourish." (And we can tell you totally have it for Alanis.) ;-)
Her voice - Its just so pretty and takes me back to the 90's when I was kid. I cant describe it. Whenever I listen to her it gives me the chillest 90's carefree vibes. I miss growing up as a kid in the 90's. Chills!!! Just something about the way she throws her voice is so beautiful. She has that 90's swag that can never fade. TIMELESS BEAUTY. Ok enough of me having a crush on her as a 34y/o dude XD.
Her live performance on Howard Stern was excellent as well! You guys should check it out
wow,, didn't know about that show.. and now i have video search mission! thousand thanks Wookiee!
@@janbarriault4494 anytime! *Joyful wookiee roar*
Yes it is awesome!
You should listen to her song 'Mary Jane', it's one of my favourites :) Definitely an underrated song by Alanis!
brad said her voice can make a grown man smile. man, he ain't never lied...made me smile a cuppa times back in the day.
Ok, next....Head Over Feet... 😊
Still going to recommend 'Ablaze'...it's current Alanis. Mom Alanis. Happy Alanis.
From the Jimmy Fallon show, during lockdown. It's adorable😇
HA Bubby in the kitchen, "oh that's a good one". I use to listen to this album on repeat.. Oh yes Everything you do, good, bad, ugly.. You Learn.
Cant wait till you get to more from this album it is so good
The joys of growing up in the 90s… proud AF!!! 🥰
I love the smiles you get when listening to her music
I recommend a few of my favs from Alanis: 1. Front Row: that feeling of early relationship butterflies, but it won't last. 2. Eight Easy Steps: Very different but a vocally punch-packing personal song. 3. Baba: a dark and violent spearhead into a certain spiritualism with one of the most beautiful endings I've heard. 4. So Pure: truly a feel-good song. Feel like a kid again. 5. Joining You: Best Chorus award for me. Dark lyrics/vibe but a powerful message. I've obviously been a big fan for a long time. She probably has the record most personally LOVED songs to me. Cheers!
I second 8 Easy Steps. Great song.
I remember borrowing this album on cassette from my girlfriend at the time and keeping it. Great album
So glad you finally reacted to my favorite Alanis Morrisette song , her vocal ability shines on this song ! Great Reaction 🎉
